Dimmer doesn't shut light off completely
After installing this dimmer and contacting tech support I realized that this dimmer doesn't cut the power off to the light it always keeps sending a small amount of power to the light so at night you can see the light flashing. The dimmer looks nice but I wouldn't recommend this product since it has a poor design and it doesn't work properly. Now I will have to spend more money and get something more simple and cheaper that actually works.

We're sorry to hear about your experience with your LEDs not shutting off completely. We assume you are controlling dimmable LEDs? Because there is no industry standard for manufacturing LEDs, not all LEDs are designed the same. That's why Lutron has a a mobile-friendly web tool to help you select bulbs that perform great with Lutron dimmers. We specifically test to ensure that the bulbs we list on our tool are not susceptible to a variety of issues, including bulbs that will not turn completely off. To use the tool, please visit lutron.com/ledfinder.

If you'd like to discuss your experience further, please call our support line at 844-LUTRON1. We're here 24/7, so please call us any time!

      Sleep and Intuitive Design!
Love the design, super easy to use Just kinda wish the tactility of the switch was a bit more pronounced and I wish they also made this in their Satin Snow color! Since they didn't have it in Satin, I went ahead and put a thin coat of matte clear coat on it and it matches the my Lutron Snow switch perfectly! Check the picture. The thin coating of clear coat also didn't mess with any of the functionality either!

          great dimmer!
Super easy and fast to install with the instructions and works great. LED light glows when it’s dark, so it’s easy to find the switch. Adjust lights with a small swipe or touch, or press the top to turn on or bottom to turn off. I didnt want a dimmer ar first, but I really do like this and it has a great modern look!

Great dimmer! Looks good but expensive
Fantastic dimmer switch, definitely the Cadillac of them all without fancy smart features but still kinda smart as it’s programmable. It looks great, has a nice feel to the touch of toggling the button and the slider looks great! I just hope it lasts the test of time as it’s super expensive!

These Lutron dimmer switches are awesome! You barely have to touch them to turn them on and just a gentle touch of your finger up and down the light bar adjusts the amount of light to your preference. And the bar stays lit so it is very easy to find them in a dark room which is why I purchased them to begin with. Even the electrician that installed them was impressed.

            Slow Response
Slow response. Takes a bit of reasonable time to turn on. I checked my wiring, just about everything. I tried the old dimmer and it worked perfectly. So my guess is this dimmer is just broken. I will spend some extra bucks and get a wifi compatible one. Oh another thing! Sometimes it doesnt even want to turn on the light and just blinks a bunch of light. It just looks nice and is very quiet(no click) very modern looking too.

This Lutron Sunnata touch dimmer is a real pleasure to use. Odd thing to say about a dimmer switch but operation is fast, smooth and accurate every time. Watch the attached video for some examples of the dimmer in use. You will have to believe me when I say the light levels of the LED bulb do change but the nature of digital video is to compensate for the light changes. Installation is pretty straightforward too and any competent DIY electrician can do the job.

SUNNATA TOUCH DIMMER WITH LED+ ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY FOR SUPERIOR DIMMING OF LED, INCANDESCENT AND HALOGEN BULBS : WHITE by Lutron In our home remodeling I have installed a couple of Lutron dimmer switches. This is a new one that works well. This particular application is in a master bath and we wanted a dimmer for nighttime needs. Our wall is a 45 degree and the work box is a shallow box. I needed to add a simple surface box extension to create space for the depth of the switch. The switch is a toggle up for on and toggle down for off. You drag your finger lightly on the always-on light-line to dim or brighten. That is pretty posh. The white light-line works well to find the switch in the dark. The video on Home Depot shows the functions perfectly. My only negative is that the light level does not seem to memorize (but the description makes it seem like it is supposed to memorize). It would be nice if the intensity was set and memorized for the next use. We cannot seem to make it memorize an intensity-- it will always turn on at 100%

Enuf2bDangerous, thank you for your valuable feedback and we are happy to hear you are enjoying your Sunnata dimmer. By default the dimmer will come on at 100% intensity every time it is turned on; however this feature can be adjusted so that the light comes on to whatever level it was last turned off at. To adjust this preset level, we invite you to follow the steps at www.lutron.com/sunnatafeatures or check out the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFFTxr4oSwA. We hope this is helpful and if you have any questions, please feel free to give us a call at 844-LUTRON1. We are available 24/7 so you can call anytime, day or night.

Arrrrggggggghhh. This dimmer just doesn't work as you would expect. The toggle up down is backward so when you go to turn it off you turn it on. The switch doesn't go on and off without monkeying with it. It's not very user friendly. When you finally think you have it it's actually only dimmed and not off. So no on off as on off the one I have is on on dim on off go to go on then it won't go off but it dims

I have a 4 light bathroom vanity light that is installed in a bedroom above two sliding barn doors (6' opening over a 12' closet). My wife tells me that led's are a bit on the bright side, from certain angles, she is probably right. Well this Lutron dimmer provided the perfect answer, as it allows you to set the brightness that the light will turns back in at when touching the on switch. I did not know this functionality existed (on non-smart switches). When looking for a LED dimmer this was the perfect solution for our too bright LED light problem. LED bulbs have advanced significantly, with the dimmable ones you sometimes get a flicker when they get to dim. Well that does not happen with this dimmer, you get to about 90% dim and the light silently goes out. At 90% dim, the led is barely lit (the glow of a Christmas light). At full brightness it looked just like it did before (too bright, wife was right). But at about 70% brightness, it was perfect. I'm very happy with this dimmer, it was very easy to install (it says it can be used as a 3 way switch (I did not try this, but that adds to it's possible flexibility).

I like the clean looks. The programming of the dimmer is a little more of a challenge than Others I have installed. Installation in my 3-way application was easy and works great. The light bar is always on so it’s a nice feature to find switch in the dark of nite. It can be programmed to remain off. The directions are easy to follow for install and program. I had to go thru the steps a few time to get it to work. I have no issues with buzzing or flickering of led lights i am using.

Just installed...easy to do. Directions come with it. I installed on a 3-pole. It came with a jumper wire so easy to install so that light switch on both ends work fine. It has a nice clean look. I like how it is a touch slide...no actual toggle bar like most have. Just touch wherever you want the brightness to be or slide finger on light to fade bright or dim. Very nice dimmer. I installed in on some led lights that illuminate 2 niches in my entry hall. Love that it can now be dimmed...more of a night light effect than what it was prior. I add dimmers to almost all of my lights. Helps to create mood lighting and makes the house look more inviting and cozy. I saved the install directions as it has info on how to replace the internal bulb in the dimmer, if it should ever go out.

Finally, a Great Dimmer for LED lights! I was an early adopter of LED lights and fixtures. When I built my house I spec’d in a variety of switches and fixtures. The problem has always been the performance of LED dimmers. I’ve tried them all. The problem has always been dimming performance, they would always flicker at low levels. Finally I have found the perfect dimmer (mostly). It is a straight forward install and it dims perfectly with no flicker, despite the fact I’m using LED bulbs not on the compatibility list. The switch has a new touch dimming feature that works pretty good, but does take a little getting used to. My only issues are that the dimmer is not the easiest to control if you have large fingers, and the paddle is glossy, most of my other switches are matte, hopefully they will offer more colors and finishes soon, because this is a great dimmer switch!

This is a full feature "touch" dimmer switch. The switch doesn't click on and off like most switches, it just requires the switch be pressed. You can control LED, incandescent and halogen bulbs. This switch can be wired either three way or single pole. For our application we went with single pole as we are controlling our porch light which also serves as the main light source for our sun porch. This main lighting duty is why we wanted the dimming capability, so we can use a high wattage bulb that can be dimmed for what ever purpose we need, general lighting or just enough glow to be able to see your way around the porch. The switch was simple to install. I watched the video on the Lutron website before attempting it and the video was very helpful. We also opted for the Lutron screwless look faceplate, it made a nice touch.

Lurton Sunnata Touch Dimmer Switch. I have used Lurton switches for years, and this one is right up there with their legendary quality. This switch is compatible with up 150W incandescent, LED, and Halogen bulbs. Extremely easy to install with all the hardware including wire connections. It says 15 min. Install. But it’s definitely faster if you charged a switch before. This is a single pole or 3 way for switches in a separate location. It’s comes with very good step by step instructions and website for video of install. You can’t go wrong with this switch.

I recently upgraded the ceiling lights in our kitchen to all LED's and as a result the old dimmer didn't work (to say the least). The Lutron Sunnata Touch Dimmer was a great upgrade - looks cool, works well and is easily programmed to enable fingertip touch dimming in addition to the basic on/off toggle function. Start to finish took me about an hour due to the tight fit (see photos) in the existing old metal box that I couldn't change out due to its location in a tiled wall. With a bigger work box (more room to fit the wires) I imagine you could change it out in half the time. The instructions were clear and mostly helpful, programming is simple and once the device is programmed the slim blue-ish LED light bar responds to fingertip swiping to control the lighting level in the room. It also makes the switch easy to find in a dark room. My only issue was with the semi-bullet proof plastic clamshell (PIA to open) packaging - I really wish manufacturers would stop using this stuff.

I was impressed with the functionality of this dimmer switch. The switch has an LED light that can be programmed to be a night light. The LED also shows the brightness of the light being turned on by the switch. It can also be programmed to turn the fixture back on the the brightness it was when turned off, so not blasting the room with bright light before being able to dim the light. Being a dimmer, it has a fairly large footprint in the electrical box which can cause a problem in a multi-gang box, especially if there are multiple wires connecting in the box. The ground wire is soldered to the bottom of the switch frame and interferes with the alignment of the switch in the box if room is needed to properly align it in a multi-ganged box. Overall functionality, however, is great.

The Dimmer is very easy to install, with good clear illustrated instructions. The wire nuts and screws needed are all included. A ground wire is also already attached making it easy to ground the switch. No neutral needed. The dimmer can also be used on a lighting circuit that is switched from two locations, which is a very nice feature. Sensibly, the switch doesn't come with a cover plate, since the color of the plate can’t be known, (though white with a white rocker would be a good guess,) so if you are replacing a toggle switch make sure you pick up a cover plate in the appropriate color. If replacing another dimmer, your existing one is probably all you need. The Dimmer is very nice and easy to use too. When the switch is off, the right hand edge of the rocker switch contains a ‘light bar’, a dull LED light to one can find the switch in the dark. When the switch is on, the amount of dimming in effect is also indicated by the length of the lit up line on the edge. Not only that but one can ‘drag’ the brightness indicator up or down with a light finger touch without having to press the rocker switch. Even better, when it is off, a light touch at the bottom of the indicator will turn the light on at the lowest setting, which is a great way to switch on a night light without having to go to full brightness first. When toggling the light on or off using the rocker, the lights ramp on or off too which is a nice touch. One can configure it to not use the lightbar when it is off, and also adjust its brightness. The instructions refer us to their website to read the Sunnata Advanced Programming Mode Application Note #734 but searches on the web site could not find that document. The low end and high end of the dimming function,as well as a preset light level can also be configured! The instructions indicate that the internal light can be replaced via a Front Accessible Service Switch (FASS) Once one has opened the packaging one finds that when using LED or CFL lights with the dimmer, it is guaranteed to work with certain lights that are listed on their website! The outside of the packaging says it works with existing wiring - but of course it may not work with your existing lights! None of my dimmable LEDs light bulbs (Feit, EcoSmart, ProHT) on hand were on their supported list, but I found that the existing Feit dimmable LED lights do in fact work fine. I suspect any good LED marked as dimmable will probably work. It can handle 150W of LED or CFL lights or 600W of incandescent or Halogen lights 1 Year Limited Warranty, extendable by registering your product.

It was anticipated when this product was received it would work and install as easily as it was advertised. It could have been done in less than 15 minutes actually. It turned into a much longer install. Initial installation was tested with Ecosmart BR40 75w LED. The light never turned off. IT would never reach full brightness. It stayed dim and even when the dimmer indicator light occasionally registered that it was changing the light it would only moderately brighten. The light would never turn on or off. After visiting Lutron’s site for additional information nothing turned up. I searched forums and it was suggested to try an incandescent light. When it was installed it worked as it was supposed to. It seems to have compatibility issues with LED lighting. Another trip to Lutron’s site revealed a dimmer to bulb or bulb to dimmer compatibility finder. It turns out, even though many Ecosmart bulbs are listed, this particular bulb was not. IT is like many other Ecosmart bulbs that are rated dimmable. IT works fine in other fixtures with dimmers. These digital and smart dimmers seem to have issues. Give me a standard dimmer any day that works without so many compatibility issues.

jcb1, we are sorry to hear about the issues you were seeing with the Ecosmart BR40. While Lutron LED+ dimmers are tested and UL-Listed with the largest number of LED bulbs, there are no standards when it comes to manufacturing LEDs, so some bulbs will not dim as well as others. Because of this, we are continuously LEDs with out dimmers and post the bulbs that provide the best dimming performance at www.lutron.com/ledfinder. Feel free to give us a call at 844-LUTRON1 to if you have any additional questions or would like to discuss your specific application in more detail. I recently replaced our hallway light fixture with one that uses 8 dimmable 5.5W (equivalent to conventional 60W) LED bulbs (see bulb picture). The fixture produces a lot of light, that we wanted to be able to dim on occasion. Finding a dimmer switch that is compatible with these newer energy saving bulbs can sometimes be a challenge, and that proved no different here despite the additional information provided on the packaging and the manufacturer’s related website. I visited the website but I was unable to confirm that our bulbs were compatible with this dimmer switch. However, since the total wattage for the light did not exceed the wattage limitations printed in the product instructions, we decided to try it. We find that it functions quite well to provide gradual dimming, and that it looks very nice on the wall – clean and modern looking with the illuminated stripe showing the degree of brightness (see pictures). Operation is intuitive due to the touch-sensitive design. Merely touching the switch dims or brightens the light, and the conventional paddle can be pushed for full on-off action. Our application was for a single pole (one switch location), and as an experienced DIY, the installation took me about 5 minutes. However, it was good to see that NO neutral (white) wire is required for installation since it is not uncommon for a neutral wire to be missing at some switch locations. The installation instructions are brief, but well-illustrated, and they are easy to see and to understand. The switch can be used for both single pole and 3-way applications. The product packaging states the availability of a two-year extended product warranty with product registration, but it appears this might be void if using bulbs that are not listed as “compatible.” My bulbs were not listed, so not sure this warranty has value to me. Although I am puzzled that my LED dimmable bulb was not listed as compatible on the manufacturer website, it does appear to function properly with the LED dimmable bulbs I am using, Were it not for that uncertainty, this could be an excellent switch. As it stands, it is a good product.
