Just what I was looking for to give my little garden island, using it mainly as decor, then steps. They heavy, but not too heavy to have problems in lifting them. They stay in place...but make sure when placed over dirt/grass, that there aren't any rocks/stones underneath, so it stays balanced. Either side can be displayed, and they are easily swept/cleaned if needed. I've added a couple of pictures to show how I used them. I placed 3 on each side of the bush. The ones I rec'd, are much, much lighter in color, as you can see in the pictures....but I am ok with that. I have had these for several weeks, and so far, they are holding up great when stepped on. I would most definitely recommend these!

One of the more artistic options available at Home Depot. The thinner ones can crack but are still solid. Just pick the thicker ones. I've had them for one year now and bought more this summer.

DO NOT BUY THESE STONES!!! STAY AWAY FROM MSI STONE. HIGH PRICED, CHEAP QUALITY, AND HD DOES NOT STAND BEHIND. HD, WHY IS THIS PURCHASE TREATED DIFFERENTLY THAN ALL OTHER PURCHASES AFTER 90 DAYS!!?? THE PROBLEMS WERE NOT APPARENT IN THE BEGINNING. We purchased approx 60 pieces. Cost was over $400. Yikes! It seemed expensive but HD has in the past always stood behind their products, so I felt confident buying it. Made a stone path over top soil and grass. Looked beautiful at first. Over time some of the stones started turning dark like an oil stain. Took several months to see progression and figure out what was causing it. It is not a heavily used walkway and not every stone in one area is affected so we know it is not the way we use them. It is inconsistant, like every other stone in some places. And it is on the top sides only. The bottoms of the stones are clear so we know our soil is not the culprit, nor is it from excessive moisture. Nine months later about 1/3 of all pieces are affected and it looks terrible. We have to have it taken out! I believe it is BLACK MOLD! I have purchased MSI stone before and they have delivered stone with mold on the bottom of the pallet. The pallets are probably sitting in moisture at the MSI warehouse and that it is why not every stone on the pallet has mold. In the past I got my money back, but this time they would not stand behind their product because more than 90 days had passed. I described the slow process in detail, brought examples of the bad stone to show the HD manager and photos of our installation. Despite the 90 day limit, and whatever it is, this should not be happening. MSI has done nothing. We are loosing hundreds of $ on this product, plus we have to spend hundreds more to get rid of it and have different stone installed. I have purchased lots of stone for client projects (I'm an interior designer) and for myself, and never had problems except with MSI stone. A terrible experience and very disappointed in HD's response. We've never had them refuse a return for any reason, even after 90 days. They are treating this return very differently and at the same time saying it's their policy. That's news to me. Ouch HD!

Just the look I wanted for stepping stones, they're a nice natural color and texture. You do have to choose and handle carefully; many of the stones at the store were chipped or cracked. But once you get them installed and leveled, they are solid and sturdy. (The photo doesn't do them justice, still waiting for grass to grow back.)

Beautiful, I love that each stone has its own color and texture. Some have fossils or sparkles like granite. There are pinks, corals, pale teals and greens. One has a sunset scene in it. We love just looking at them and their personality. Very pleased with these hand cut stones and pleased with the customer service at Home Depot.

I got 150 of these for a do-it-yourself patio in my back yard. I'm laying them in tamped-down stone dust, not cement. So mine is an area-covering application, not simply a step stone path. My wife and I love the color variations, and we checked out the general quality and form of this stone type before we ordered. There are some characteristics to take into account: 1. One side of each piece is pretty flat but not perfectly flat; the other side is typically quite uneven, so setting them into my stone dust (or sand) takes some "shaping" of the support material. 2. As the illustration shows, the sides and edges are rounded and irregular. Expect that. Layout takes some planning and adjusting. 4. What illustration does not show is that most of our stones have one long side nearly straight and the other side much more concave. This means you will have gaps if you are laying them side-by-side to fill an area. These shape irregularities are of course no issue if you are using them as step stones, with space between them.

Although, they are pretty uniformly shaped (thicknesses vary, though), they provide the feel of a natural path way once installed. They are very easy to handle and install. My only complaint is availability at stores. The stores I have been to, typically have no more than one pallet in stock and many of the stones are often broken. So, it takes time and effort to sort through and find stones with equal thickness. It also might require several trips to the store, depending on how many you need.

Product well-named as "Rustic". I love the different natural colors in the stones, the differing shapes, and the overall thickness; all different, adding interest to a walkway. It took me four trips to get these heavy stones home, but I didn't want to settle. Bringing the love of "au naturalle" into your backyard. The walkway looks awesome... so much so my neighbor asked if we could go back to Home Depot for several to place on her side of the fence. Heavy, solid, even without setting them into the earth yet, and gives a finishing touch to the yard, as small as it is. The walkway leading to the patio, laid-out of 12" square patio blocks and 10x8 Mediterranean travertine blocks as a border, with spacings between white blocks with gold pea pebbles all from Home Depot! Thank you, Home Depot!

Bought 20 of these to enlarge old concrete patio. Loved the look, bought 10 more. Planning to enlarge other end of patio to include a fire pit due to so many compliments. Choose like thicknesses if you plan to place chairs on these. We walk on these daily with no problems. Love the look.

Looks great and worked well for stepping stone path
Purchased 15 of these stepping stones to finish off the look I was going for in my shade garden at the back of the yard. Made a nice pathway through the garden to a bench. Picked through the stone on the pallet to find stone that complimented each other in color. It is sandstone so it is softer than slate or other harder natural stone pavers. The shapes are consistent but the thickness varies. Coloring varies also but compliments each other. They seem like they should hold up well for the purpose that I used them for. Very easy to get them to lay flat and mulch around.

        Really love this product.
At first I bought just a few of these to do a walk way, but after seeing them in the yard, I bought 125 more and made a patio. received tons of compliments.

          Functional but pretty pathway
Stepping stones were easy to install. I just cut out the sod in the shape of each stone and added a layer of sand for leveling.

Beautiful as well as safe and practical
The color was absolutely perfect to compliment the tile of our patio, and, most of all, the size of the step stone was perfect for my 93 yr old mother-in-law to use to get to the other backyard patio space. The stones nestled into the small pebbles easily, so that everything was level to step on with no worries about falling because of unevenness. This stone is big enough for everyone to step on, and thick enough not to break. Worth the price.

Looks very good, but if you have children or a lot of traffic they could break
The stones look beautiful, but for the price of the stones, they break easily. If a heavy individual, meaning an adult, stands on the stones they can break fairly easily and if a child jumps on the stone, they can definitely break. I had one break that I stepped on. They do look awesome and wonderful. I love the way they look, but not for the price.

          Real stone is always better
I needed some stepping stones to make a path from the front of my home to my trash container which is kept on the side behind a screen. These stones are perfect because they're real sandstone and not some cement wannabe plus they are very uniform in thickness unlike natural slate. A little bit of sand to level them worked well and I filled in with brown mulch. Oh yes, be sure to put down landscape fabric to cut down on weeds.

          great stepping stones
I love these. They make a great walkway in the middle of my cactus and rock garden. They come in a few different shades, which I like for this particular application. Unfortunately, they also come in varying thicknesses, which makes installation a challenge and/or limits selection if you're using in the same place and (presumably) want it to be level.

          Beautiful!
We put in a pathway from our back patio, along the side of our house, to the front driveway using these natural stone pavers. We used gravel and sand under the pavers and left grass around each paver to give the path a more natural look. It was labor intensive and took several weekends to install. We have had them in for almost a year now and they have held up well. I wish the pavers were about 6" wider- the path is narrow but does the job. The pathway we created is useful, attractive, and adds to the value of our home. The pavers and materials were half the cost of installing a concrete sidewalk but almost twice the price of the concrete pavers. We chose this option because it gave us the look we wanted.
