Come on guys. You have been making tools for how long. Put the light where it works better. The one illuminates my hand really well. Even my little Ryobi driver has a better light. Pic for example.

After all these years Makita STILL hasn't figured out how to have their little led light actually light the friggin' screwhead. It lights the area around the screwhead but NOT the exact area you really need it. Try using it in a dark area. Ackkkk!

I really had high hopes for this set. I do a variety of work from cabinet installs to light carpentry, I'm a part time professional. I got this set for its lightweight and fantastic ergonomics. On day one the drill chuck locked up and lost a bit, this happened three more times. On day three I was doing some light framing and the housing literally snapped in half on the impact. I may give Makita another shot because of fantastic ergonomics but so far I am unimpressed by quality.

The nice thing about these tools is that they are really lightweight. Put together, they weigh the same amount as my old DeWalt 18-volt drill. The impact driver works great. However, the drill is underpowered. My 16-year-old 18V Dewalt is more powerful than this Makita. My drill also broke while I was drilling a 1/4" hole. The plastic inside the chuck broke. I was disappointed in the quality, so I returned them.

This combo set is great. I use them all the time while I am working on cars. Both of them are strong and powerful and get the job done easy. l have had them for about 2 years now and they are still working amazing. I also like the quike charge battery charger. Gets the batteries from dead to full charge in 25 mins. Overall it is a great product.

These drills are great. They are light and easy to work with. They fit in many tight areas and have good power. The 18v will get most normall jobs done. These tools will last a long, long time if you are puchasing them for residential use. Commercial use can get up to 3-4 years of abuse before they start to overheat and smell...

Im in commercial construction and the makita brand is what i like to use. The drill chuck is a lil wobble and was like that when i recieved it. But the im pact is perfect!!!! Both are light weight and the compact design is great for tight spots. Plenty of power and battery life seems to be pretty good. 1-2 days on one charge. Well thats my review. Peace!+

Unbelievable. The power this combination has in such a compact size is simply unbelievable. Had my eye on this combo for a while and had tried it out in the store, but putting it to use in the real world has blown me away. So light, compact, and comfortable in my hand. The recip doesn’t have the full 1-1/2 stroke of the full size, but is longer than the 12 volt mini’s in all the other brands. Roots, demo, trimming-this thing is awesome. The impact driver is a godsend. Overall this is the best $299 I’ve ever spent on tools. Only con is the lack of other tools in this range. I REALLY hope they come out with an oscillating tool. Hopefully this line is just getting started.

This is the best purchase I have made. I use both drills everyday for work and have no regrets the size was the big deal maker for me but boy that power. I just replaced a six year old makita that was starting to slow down and I can't believe what a difference that time has made.

I may be somewhat biased, as I've been using Makita products for the past 10 years, but I feel like Makita killed it with this drill/driver combo. I did get to play with them a bit at a local Home Depot before buying the kit & I can honestly say these are worth every penny. Although I've been using them for light work, removal of kitchen cabinets, you can feel the extra torque with every push of the trigger. They are smaller and lighter than my previous pair but feel stronger and more comfortable in hand. On top of their overall performance they are the best looking pair Makita has produced bar none.

I bought this drill set for my home diy remodeling work and very satisfied. Small light weight yet powerful for framing, drywall, cement board, flooring. Very solid and great quality. Two fast charging batteries means never waiting for battery. Only thing I needed was quality drill bits because I broke a few old conventional drill bits using impact driver. So I bought set of Makita Impact Gold drill bits (Part No. B-46919) for $19 and very happy.

Versatile, lightweight and powerful

was very disappointed with this set, the minute I took it out of the box the drills chuck was making a horrible horrible grinding noise, i took it back the drill and impact driver is a very nice size and lightweight, and I also whish the batteries had gauges, I was really looking forward to owning my first mikita tools and this was my very first experience, so I am very disappointed I was really hoping this would be my new go too, they have very good lights and are perfect size for less user fatigue and in tight spaces, but the clutch was just very upsetting and wasn't gonna exchange it, especially when that was my first impression

The drill and driver work as expected. Would get five stars if the drill had a hammer drill option

item was on sale, the sale poster was still up, so as you are walking down the asile you see the new lower price of 169. Then as you go to the other side the price is now covered up, so you can imagine I was so psyched to be able to buy this for 169 but then the manager said he wouldn't honor the price, so now I'm extremely disappointed, this is the stores fault, they should have either removed the sign because that's the only real product offered or at least took the time to cover both sides

Batteries wear down faster than my Ridgit.

My favorite brand of cordless tools. I use Makita at work, so I know they are built to last. This compact size is perfect for the house. Batteries also charge fast and last a long time.

Drill gets hot and drains battery within minutes

The impact driver is good. The drill has a bad chuck. It stucked on the open position. Don't buy.

I had high hopes on this set unit because my friend had been using his for years and I decided to get my own. After 13 months of using it (not daily maybe 2-3 times a month,) both batteries died same time. If it wasn't for 3 yrs warranty, I would've purchased another battery set but this time most likely NOT Matika. Returned to the factory and took a almost 2 months to get a new one. Very disappointing.
