Pressure not as specified
I bought this specifically because of the Makita name and the thought that this would be a quality product. The compressor is as quiet as advertised. The unit is compact and well built. However, the performance of my unit is not as advertised. Cut-out pressure consistently 125psi and cut-in pressure is 95psi. I verified this several times and via 2 separate gauges aside from the unit gauges. Pressure switch stamp confirms it is supposed to be 105-135 as per manufacturer figures. I presented this information to Makita and the tech support was confused as to how this could happen and offered for me to take it to a service center. Having owned compressors, I know this is just a simple screw adjustment on the pressure switch. But nope, the screw has been hot glued to prevent adjustment. At this point, I'd rather return for another but this is all a major inconvenience and quality control should be better than this.

    Very disappointing
I have two of these, both lasted less than 1 year before developing problems. Same problem--pump runs but stopped filling tank with air. Unfortunately, I know a couple other carpenters that are having troubles with theirs too. As far as I know, all were purchased from Home Depot.

Only used it once so far but it is very quiet for an air compressor and seems well built.

First Makita tool - best purchase I’ve made
This has to be the best compressor out there for regular home use. I wanted a compressor primarily for using the air to clean tools and woodworking projects/dust, but I also wanted one that could be used for other things too, like nailing, etc. I researched so many compressors and finally landed on this. The rest of my power tools are primarily dewalt.. since I’ve collected so many it’s made sense to stick with them instead of switching brands and getting new batteries too. But I decided to give this Makita quiet series a try and it’s one of the best purchases I ever made. Very powerful and doesn’t take long at all to reach full pressure. Even when it starts up it is so quiet and throughout use is a dream to use. The carrying handle is perfect and the rubber feet on the bottom mean I can put it anywhere and it won’t shake around or anything. Awesome purchase, no regrets.

      Perfect for the job!
In the past I had a different brand compressor. I much prefer this one! Super easy to use and very functional.

Very quiet. Holds pressure with no leaks. Attractive. On/off switch in awkward place on side but no big problem.

This compressor exceeded my expectations. It is quieter than I would have imagined a compressor could be and light enough that I can move it around with little difficulty. The air hose easily attaches to the quick disconnect on the face of the control panel. The delivery pressure is easy to set with a large dial. The drain is a simple toggle switch that is easier to use than the screw style of my previous compressor. I've only used this compressor a couple times in the month that I've owed it but it has worked great each time.

        love it
Very solidly built little machine. Seems like it'll last a long time. Very quiet for a compressor. Wouldn't want it any louder for close-quarters indoor use. Perfect balance of good capacity and power for a lot of jobs, quiet enough, and light enough to move around easily.

Good weight, not quite enough capacity
I bought this to inflate tires, including 80 psi RV tires, and also blow out things like filters and dust from work areas. But I also wanted quiet and not too difficult to carry around. This is certainly quiet! I had to wear earplugs around my old 10 gal. compressor, but I can run this indoors and it's quieter than my vacuum cleaner! However, this is about as heavy of a unit that I want to lug around as I get older, so instead of getting the 3 gal. that I really wanted (7 lbs. heavier), I'm losing out on extra capacity and output for the sake of weight. So for example, when I'm filling car tires and they're down say 5 psi, this compressor will have to kick in to do the job. That says, it reaches full capacity from zero in about a minute, so with tire inflation I only wait a few seconds. But with blowing out filters and work areas, I can only do short bursts of a couple seconds before the compressor needs to kick in and then I have to wait a few seconds in between to get full pressure again. So if you are stronger, by all means get the 3 gal. version and lug it around. If you want lighter like this one, then you'll have to compromise in terms of what it can do. One more thing: the compressor cuts out around 128-9 psi when the manual states that it's supposed to be 135 psi, as other reviewers have noted. I've asked Makita if this is a defect and am waiting for their reply.

It’s quiet. It’s built like a tank. It’s smartly designed. What’s not to like? Seriously, now most small compressors seem ridiculously loud to me. Pay a little more, get a lot less noise!

          Super quiet!
A bit heavier and more expensive than comparable compressors of this size, but your ears will love it, as will your clients, very quiet. Have been doing trim work for over 30 years, you can run multiple trim nailers off this compressor.

It’s probably fine. I just didn’t realize how small a 2 gallon tank would be. But it recovers quickly enough. I’m only using it for the odd hubs around the house - perhaps once a week or so. It’ll probably last me the rest of my life at this rate. Wish it had an air-fitting holder/rack and an air hose spool or something.
