The entire collection of Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Flooring is very durable, however If you look up the definition of Scratch resistant it essentially means that the product is able to withstand minor scratches. There are ways to prevent scratches on Hardwood Flooring by taking proper precautions to protect furniture and chair legs and feet with felt protectors. Moving heavy objects without a dolly and/or protective plywood beneath may cause damage to any type of flooring. Damage may also occur from spiked and/or high heels and pet claws. Falling objects can also dent or fracture any type of flooring.

The Malibu Wide Plank Team is happy you love your 1/2" Thick x 7.5” Wide Tongue & Groove Engineered with lengths to 74.8”, with 50% of boards in each case being full length, and this product features a 2mm Sliced Maple Face Veneer thickness. Both the 1/2" Tongue & Groove version and the 3/8" will perform equally. The 3/8” Thick Locking Collection features a 1.2mm Thick Sliced Face Veneer mounted on an HDF Core, with a hardwood back veneer. High Density Fiberboard (HDF) is an engineered board produced from resin bonded wood fibers under high pressure and heat and provides excellent joint integrity when the Click and Lock Profile is milled on the sides and ends. The majority of Locking Hardwood flooring on the market is comprised of an HDF Core. This collection is also sealed with 7 layers of the latest super low gloss urethane finish with aluminum oxide, providing protection from everyday wear and tear. If you spill water, drips from dishwasher, or track in water from outside etc, solution would be cleaning/drying up the spill. If you clean up the liquid within a reasonable timeline, there should be no issues.

The Malibu Wide Plank 1/2" x 7.5" x Lengths to 74.8" Wirebrushed Collection is suppose to contain a Minimum of 50%+ Full Length Planks in each case. If your cases contain 70%, 80%+ full length planks in each case this is an added bonus, there will not be a 50% Full / 50% Varying length split in each case as your referring to nor is this stated anywhere. This is the preferred visual to have FULL LENGTH planks vs SHORT planks in each case. The product is classified as Varying Length as it is not a fixed length product like laminate or vinyl flooring where 100% of all planks in each case are the same length. In the Installation Guide located under "Info & guides" on each product listing page refer to Step 1 & Step 2 of the installation process: The First Three Rows and Racking the flooring to create the correct board stagger with end joints not lined up will create a truly aesthetically pleasing visual. If you have full length boards, you can cut a board for the starter row, which will assist with end joints not lining up. Pending your installation skill level,
this collection also comes in a 3/8" x 6.5" x 47.6" Click Lock Engineered Hardwood (Minimum of 70%+ Full Length Planks in each case) version may be easier to install vs the tongue & Groove glue or staple down which may need professional installation.

This character grade Maple may include naturally occurring cracks, splits, knotholes, mineral streaks, filler for stability, etc. Due to the nature of natural hardwood flooring there can be a difference in samples and the received product due to a variety of issues, including color/tone, naturally occurring character imperfections such as knotholes and mineral streaks, etc, as well as grain orientation.
