Customer Reviews for Maytag 4.5 cu. ft. High-Efficiency White Top Load Washer Machine with Deep Water Wash and PowerWash Cycle

You need to know this machine makes a repetitive mechanical sound as it fills, another repetitive whirring sound as it agitates, and then knocks as it spins to rinse - can't tell in a showroom. This is the loudest machine I've ever had, and I'm old. We've followed instructions and have meticulously leveled the machine, which sits on a concrete floor. It's probably great if it's in your basement or in a separate building - but hard to live with if its on the same floor with you.

My Maytag 4.8 cu. ft. Top Load Washer in White with Extra Power Boost arrived undamaged. The large capacity tub makes for the washing of large bulk items much easier to accomplish. The "Extra Power Boost" feature makes for added cleaning of heavily soiled items. I thought the absence of a standard tall agitator meant my clothes would not come out clean-but that's not the case-This commercial grade quality large capacity Maytag Washer exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Maytag brand for all your laundry needs. Needless to say-I was so impressed that I visited my local Home Depot Store and purchased the matching dryer to accompany it!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My previous washer was a Maytag, and I was very satisfied with it, but with growing kids that produce a significantly larger amount of dirty laundry, I wanted to upgrade the size of the loads I could do.  Fortunately the Maytag Top Load Washer with Extra Power - 4.5 cu. Ft. fits that bill exactly, allowing me to stay with a brand that has earned my trust. The washer came in pristine condition, well boxed and safe.  It wasn’t significantly larger than my previous model, so fitting it into my space wasn’t an issue.  My husband installed the hoses, and the drain tube (included), and after plugging it in it was ready to go. The washer is well balanced, and while not quiet when in use, it isn’t loud, or at least no more than I expected.  The washer is simple to operate, with the knob options labeled and intuitively described.  The wash cycle does seem to be faster than my old washer, but this is more a sense, as I never timed my previous machine.  The knobs turn easily and responsively, making small clicks at each option setting, which makes it feel high tech, and I derive a surprising amount of joy at this! My previous washer also didn’t have the center agitator, and I was worried that that would make this one seem smaller…but not so.  It seems larger, and with the center agitator I feel like my clothes get cleaner and less tangled. The size is great, and it handles my bath rugs and large quilts without a problem, and without throwing it out of balance.  So far I’ve been using the auto fill setting and it seems to be judging loads appropriately.  My favorite feature (and I didn’t know about it before the Maytag arrived, and it was such a pleasant surprise) is the water faucet, which is fantastic for pre-treating stains.  I absolutely love this, and makes the upgrade from my old washer well worth it. The thing I worry most about this washer is turning it on.  After you turn the knobs to your desired settings, you have to press and hold the start/pause button until all the lights illuminate, and then let go and it turns on.  I worry that the sensor under the button could stop working over time. It’s a bit finicky to find just where to press. Still, this may be something I just need to get used to, and Maytag hasn’t let me down in the past, so I’ll certainly give them the benefit of the doubt. I really love this machine, and definitely recommend!

The cycle times are about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the many options you choose. I also love how to control panel is user friendly and very easy to understand. The setup for the washer was also very easy to hook up/connect. I would definitely recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my very 1st brand new, never used or pre-owned washer and I absolutely love it!!! The clothes comes out so clean and has a lot of setting. The quick wash take about 30 mins and the bulky items, towels and whites settings take longer to wash. I don't mind because the beding felt so clean and fresh. I was able to put 12 towels to wash with no problem. The machine didn't shake when spinning and it didnt get unbalanced while spinning.

I love it takes up less space then our last set so we can't put a cabinet between the washer and dryer for storage.Wash cycles are quicker and more efficient. The inside is pretty deep so is perfect for our family of four and all our laundry needs! We love this washer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you’ve been using a front load HE you won’t believe how nice it is to go back to a top load agitator washing machine. And this washer is the Cad!lac of agitator based top loaders. I couldn’t believe how much cleaner and fresher my towels and work clothes come out. The 4.5 cu Ft drum holds plenty and it rinses and spins out perfectly. I love it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m really loving this Maytag washer, it does a great job of getting stains out of the kids clothes… my son seems to constantly skate on his knees over grass, mud, anything that stains really, but the power cleaning works wonders. It handles bedding easily. The built in facet is such a great feature, I don’t know why I haven’t seen that before, but I use it way more than I thought I would. We are a family of 4, so this is getting run most days, and I’m impressed. It runs quiet, has the capacity for large loads, and has a lot of useful features like auto fill so you don’t need to set how much to fill, but you can override it when needed. I found the quick wash setting is great for non-child related washing when we’re in a rush. The washer came with the out-hose, instructions (not that you need them, it’s super easy to use), and a collection of samples. It feels solidly made, and with the 10 year warranty on motor and basket, makes me feel confident it’ll last. Overall I’m very happy with this, I highly recommend it!

The settings are intuitive and cover all the uses we can throw at it. It's easy to operate, and I have used almost all of the different cycles with no issues. It has a built-in water faucet that rinses, spot treats or soaks clothes in the washer itself. Love the multiple wash, spin, rinse, and temperature options. The auto-sensing feature is awesome, which adjusts the water level for each load and provides effective cleaning. It spins the clothes out to almost dry. The clothes smell and feel a lot cleaner each time. Loading clothes is very convenient and running time is reasonable in relation to the amount of clothes. The washer is huge inside and looks great with our matching dryer. It is noisy at times, which is the only downside at this time but we don’t notice it much if the laundry room door is closed. Overall I'm very satisfied with all the features and performance of this washer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is one of the greatest washer machines I have ever used. It is spacious, almost cavernous and has held large loads of laundry for us. It has a multitude of options for washing or my favorite option is to let the washer machine figure out how much water and how long it needs to go on its own. It does take a little getting use to as it locks the lid and “senses” the load before starting. Then you are off to the races. You can have a big loans followed by a small load and not charge any settings and not waste any extra water. The one caveat is that it is a little on the loud side, but not enough that you don’t get use to it.

The Maytag Top load 4.5 cubic feet washer is easy on the wallet and but tough on your stains. The washer has a built-in faucet to help with the pre-rinsing and a deep fill and extra power mode to help fight off the tough stains. The extra power mode activates a rigorous prewash and a regular cycle to get the tough stains out. We had been looking to replace our washer and dryer and we decided to give this a try. Honestly, this is a no-frills washer is that made to get the job done. Our clothes come out clean and we know that this product is built to last backed by Maytag 10-year limited warranty.

The drum is huge and it will hold a very large load! My favorite is the spinning. This washer spins out so well that it doesn’t take long to even dry them! I’ve noticed that my clothes come out smelling so fresh and clean! You absolutely cannot beat the quality of this washer nor the value! Worth every penny!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this from Tryit Sampling and absolutely love it! Comes with an agitator which I was happy with my other washer I had didn’t have one! The capacity to fit clothes, blankets, whatever you need is huge. It works amazing and quite quickly through loads. My absolute favorite is the water faucet I can use when need to before running a cycle. Comes with tons of features that can be used from delicates to bulky items. The only downfall I have found is the same as the dryer with my hands it is hard to hold the start button down at times. It’s like a child proof thing and it is kind of hard at times.

I Immediately returned this washer. If you want an agitator then you cannot have the slow close glass top. The sales person at Home Depot didn't know this, so I was disappointed with not being able to see what’s happening in the washer. I tried a few loads thinking that I could maybe live with a solid lid, nope! This washer is VERY VERY noisy. It sounds like an airplane is taking off in the laundry room. The wash cycles are very long. I washed a set of sheets with an extra rinse cycle and it took 2 hours and 21 minutes. Ridiculous! This washer does not tell you how much time is left in a cycle. My previous Maytag did and so does the new Maytag I choose. I decided on model#MVW7230HW. So far so good, it is nice and quiet.

This machine has grown on me to some degree, but I don't really have a choice, now do I? It is very hard on my clothes, my towels are ALWAYS in knots and my t-shirts are always stretched. It is the worst washing machine I've ever owned, but given the new DEI standards, less capable design engineers and product designers are in charge of creating our appliances and everything else now. This was the second delivery from Home Depot in 6 months, same jerk guy who didn't want to install the machine because when he loosened the hose of the old machine, two drops of water fell. He did install it, making me write a statement about this, refused to give me a paper copy and told me to get my cell phone out and take a picture! He acted like he was doing me a favor delivering my washer! They left my front door wide open after I told him to close it, so my old cat won't get out (I had no way of confining her because the only door in the house was to the bath/laundry where the washer was going.) He screamed at me that it was MY responsibility to have my cat put away prior to his arrival. I have no clue why he felt my front door needed to remain open the entire time he was in my home! He threatened to take my washer back and scolded me for "disrespecting" him. It appears if you are too pale, any comment made or simple complaint is considered hate speech. What happened to my country? I will never buy an appliance from Home Depot again!

Several parts replaced within first 8 months. But they waited until my warranty was near up to get the parts to me. So for months I was at the laundry mat. For a washer they sell at three retailers to this day. Now every few loads were having trouble. This company has no quality just greed.

This one is more difficult to get started than my previous Maytag washer that had a dial to turn on it. I wouldn't buy this kind again sadly. Plus there is no sound timer on it and I miss that.

I purchased this washer because of all the option features. It was delivered April 13th 2024 BUT BUYER BEWARE. I had two repair services at my house. My washer cannot be fixed because of the design. The lid has 1/4 inch gap on the front of the lid. The back of the lid has a gap...causing severe condensation all across the control panel WHEN USING HOT OR WARM WATER The water faucet should be in the center of the machine,but for some reason Maytag put it off to the left. So I have to put a hand towel over the gap at the back of the lid,which the repair service said that it would not cause any problems so the condensation did not go on the control panel I wanted Maytag to refund me my money and I would go get a different Maytag washer. I was told by the repair guy that was not going to happen,that it was not hindering the productivity of the washer..... That it was the design of the washer.....I'm so dissapointed... I don't even know how this washer passed on inspection!!!!!!!
