Great system to manage lawn watering needs!

So far this is a wonderful product. Been using two of them for about a week now. Super easy to program.

Second year with this time and it is working flawlessly. I put it in the garage, dry it out and remove battery at the end of the season.

The Melnor Timer is a great idea... if it worked longer. I need a timer with 4 outlets, so this seemed like the perfect product. I like that I can water when and how often I like. I may be slow, because for me... it took a couple of tries to set everything up the way I needed too. I like that I can water the roses with a soaker hose, water the shrubs with another soaker, water the back left side with the tripod sprinkler and leave one hose open. However, like some one mentioned, I used one of the programmed lines to manually water another area and it has leaked ever since. This was my 3rd replacement... because I cannot find anything better. So, we just keep swopping it out, which I am about to do again. We tried switching the washers, but still leaks. I guess once we have things working we should not touch it again. I AM WILLING TO PAY MORE FOR A BETTER PRODUCT, I JUST NEED IT TO WORK!

I really like the manual override for each connection. Being able to set a different time for each connection is also very helpful. Easy to use and very functional!

these timers are great. we use them for our construction company that has over 100 yards to sod and these save us tons of hours by just setting up hoses and leaving them. these are the best price and the best product for multi hose watering.

Not for gravity fed irrigation! Works fine with pressure applications but with all the plastic fittings I don't expect this to last very many years unfortunately. The operation of the timer is easy enough. I tried to use it on my gravity feed drip irrigation system and the valves don't open all the way. They close fine each time but this must rely on pressure to fully open the valve. I can turn the knobs and it powers my drip irrigation fine but when relying on the timers it doesn't get as much flow.

Using this timer in a remote area with no electricity. As you can see in the photo the roses and ather plants are thriving. The timer is very versatile and dependable and very easy to program, a great improvement over previous units. Have used this unit for this growing season as well as last fall.

Programming is very limited, only equal intervals available, but not certain times for each zone. And the manufacturer is presenting the programming as very easy and with many options. This is irritating. But if you need to use it just once per day it is ok.

Do NOT ignore the reviews that discuss how this timer fails because it will fail. When I purchased this timer, I performed the procedures that the addendum instructions provided for closing valves that may have opened during shipping. The timer worked fine for about a week. One day, I manually opened one of the lines to water through the hose. The next time the timer came on, it would not turn off. I reset it, restarted it, removed the batteries and tried again...the only way to get the water on that zone to go off was to turn the spigot off. It's a good thing this happened the day BEFORE I left for vacation or my yard would have been a muddy mess.... not to mention the high water bill. Take my advice and STAY AWAY from this product.

I bought this unit in the fall but never tried using it until this spring (2018). I don't know why, but this limits the water pressure immensely. I was able to program it easily so that it would run one sprinkler at a time for 15 minutes. This functionality worked. The problem was that even with just one sprinkler running, I was getting maybe 1/10th the water pressure coming out, which made it absolutely worthless. I honestly don't know how anyone that has used this item can recommend it.

Worked right out of the box. Easy to program. Very happy with my choice.

Absolute trash. Fittings are designed to look like brass but are actually nylon; the top fitting cracked at the hose bib while we were on vacation, shooting water everywhere and flooding the yard near the patio. On top of that, 12" of bare wire controlling each solenoid, at some point some of the zones stopped opening.

I read a lot of the reviews and I don't know why people are having trouble with this product! It is perfect; you have to be smarter than the products you are purchasing, know what kind of pressure you have, and connect the product to the right pressure souce. I think it's just really stupid that people can't figure out how to use a great timer like this! I have over 10 sprinkler heads on each line and it works fine. so connect it correctly, read the manual, or hire someone to do it, because there's absolutely nothing wrong with this product it is perfect. I bought it in the US to use here in Costa Rica, because good things like this are an available here. It is just perfect battery-operated is perfect because we have a lot of electrical storms and I don't have to worry whether my sprinklers going to be working or not. I have my sprinkler protected from the sun because the UV here is really high so I don't have any issues at all. I am flabbergasted why everybody's having problems too funny!

Great product and easy to setup.

I received this item in good condition. When i connected all 4 hoses and turned the water on and having all 4 dials set in the timer position. Water started coming out of the number 1 port and would not stop until i went into the programming section and then to manual section and told it to turn on the water for 5 minutes and then off, I had to do this 3-4 times for each zone (hose port) for it to finally start to work right. Once i got all for ports working correctly, It seems to work. i find that this model is not as good as the older model from 4-5 years ago. I would only give this model a 6 out of 10 on a good day

Recommend with reservations. Seems to work ok, and I like that the design places timer separate from the water flow. We had a Melnor timer before and its design pushed water through timer, which created corrosion, deposits, etc, shortening life of timer and making battery especially hard to remove. I also like that the timer can be detached, and taken inside to set. Though the "arm" that holds the timer doesn't fit below my shut-off valve - should be more clearance. This timer seems especially hard to set/change - our prior Melnor device seemed pretty easy, but this one more difficult and less clear. Big issue: I can't figure out how to turn a single zone off without changing other zones. Nothing in the instructions about this, nothing online about it, and I sent Email to Melnor but no response after a week. I opted for setting that zone to zero minutes, which seems to work, but not the way it should work. I may try turning all zones off, then just turning on the ones I want - but that seems less than optimal, and quite cumbersome. Also, not always clear how/when program set. I very much like the manual knob to allow spot use without changing settings. So this works ok, but not as well as I'd like. At the same time, I didn't see any other options out there that looked any better.

When I first received the unit and installed it, one of the valves was stuck open. After lots of trying, I finally read an addendum to the user manual which told how to fix it. Those instructions were kind of hard to follow, but after figuring it out, the system has been working excellent.

After using this product for almost a year I find that this product is unreliable. It turns on by itself at unscheduled times and will not turn off unless you manually shut it off. This appears to happen the most if you use the manual to water the plants but after they are done watering, you do not reset the time back to zero. This happened at least 15 times and my trees got over-watered and my avocado tree developed root rot and died.

This was just what I needed to replace an older one that I couldn't program. Easy to use, read and install.

Great water timer! Easy to program (after you figure out how), very flexible in functionality, seems durable and doesn't leak. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to turn off just one zone temporarily, or maybe you can't go that. In any case, five stars -- it didn't let me down over my vacation for a week.

Simple to program.

This was very easy to set up. I am a senior widow and not handy with electronics, etc. This works great and was reasonable.

So far so good. This was really easy to program and works great. I bought 6 of them and it made my life easy!
