Product review ad by Milwaukee has very large letters 3 M18 batteries. Unfortunately, after looking again when I only received 2 batteries, they are just numbering the points they are making. This is very misleading. Figured this out while on the phone with customer service who was very difficult to understand. He did try to tell me that online orders must be returned using the online system. This is not true.

Everything is outstanding. The impact is everything it's reputation suggests. The hammer drill is awesome I particularly like the ratcheting chuck. It's just a step above any others I've owned. And the Sawzall is a beast. I've used it for pipe mostly. But even in place of washing bolts. Quicker with no slag spitting at you. No complaints.

5.0 allows for hours of work without needing to recharge. Drill works amazing and has never let me down. Impact driver is by far the most powerful I’ve ever used and makes working in the wood shop or around the house a breeze. Well thought out design.

As a Contractor, when it comes to battery powered,, I use milwaukee everything. for years I used the first generation ¼ impact and drill with the 1.5AH batteries and they never let me down. sure you swap batteries more frequently, but your second battery is already fully recharged by time your otger one dies..I recently upgraded to all FUEL brushless motor tools, and the difference is remarkable.The hard case is amust have for any real contractor. However my biggest problems with the case are 1: you basically want $120 just for the case. 2: the impact cannot be swapped for the ¼ SURGE impact. it will not fit in the case. which wastes more space in the tool trailer. and 3: milwaukee doesn't sell empty hard cases. (huge missed opportunity on their part)as for the impact and hammer drill, they're clear and obvious upgrades from the first generation. the grip is better formed than first gen. the brushless motors don't need to be "broken in" like first generation models needed to be. and the performance is fantastic.I'll carry milwaukee tools for life. Slightly because I'm so heavily invested into milwaukee batteries already, but also because the performance and reliability has never failed me.

These are without a doubt, hands down, the best drill and drover I have ever used. I see in some reviews some folks got some faulty drills. Not the case for me. Ive had mine a couple of years and use them daily in a professional setting. The torque on the driver is unparalled. In some instances I even use it with a good bit to drill through stainless steel. And the hammer drill, an absolute monster, I drill into concrete and brick constantly and with ease. The 5 amp batteries provide plenty of life, I can get through a full work day, sometimes two on one charge.

I read the reviews before purchasing, just like you are right now. I weighed the pros and cons of various brands, just like you. Listen to this review. It holds weight. I had this review on Milwaukee's website and they contacted me to tell me they wanted to get me in touch with their product manager for drills/drivers. They then took my review down (after roughly 2 days) and I never heard from them again. I then tried to repost the SAME review and the moderators took it down before it could be posted for "not following their review guidelines." For that, I'm taking my review from 2 stars down to 1. Pathetic. My original review: I originally got this combo (M18 Fuel Drill/driver and impact combo with (2) 5 Ah batteries) to replace the Makita XPH07 drill driver that had previously given me trouble with its rear bearing/motor assembly). This was around Black Friday of 2019, so Milwaukee was running their special of giving you 2 free items when you bought this kit. I chose their job site radio (I love the radio so much) and another 5 AH battery. For the price, it seemed like a killer deal. When I initially used the impact, I was stoked. It had lots of torque and was a tool I had never used. I immediately knew I would never go without an impact driver again. Admittedly, I put it though some fairly heavy usage, but Milwaukee’s motto is “Nothing but heavy duty,” right? Fast forward to a couple months and I started having problems with both the drill and the impact. The drill’s chuck would ratchet down to hold a bit and then release the bit at the worst times possible, even when I would fully tighten it. Please note: this seems to be a fairly common problem with the Fuel drill. I then sent it to get repaired. After 2 weeks, I finally got it back. At roughly the same time, the impact started to act up. The bit holder/collet would occasionally drop the bit it was holding or simply would not lock a new bit into place unless I racked the collet a couple times. While this was annoying, the main problem was the light hammering noise that would occur when the impact was held upside down. I got this fixed under warranty...after 2 more weeks. Turns out it was the motor, which is ridiculous considering it only had a couple months of use. The bit holding problem was not addressed because the repair man could not replicate the problem. Fast forward to today. The impact has started to make the same sound, but only just starting to (intermittent) and it will not accept/hold a new bit almost every time I go to swap out to a new bit and sometimes it will just outright drop the bit while I’m using it. The drill is starting to have the SAME problem with the chuck, even though it only has a handful of hours on it. PLEASE NOTE: after research, I found the chuck is a common problem with the driver. Ditto with the collet ring on the impact. Come on. Why can’t ANYONE make a drill that lasts more than a few months? I’m NOT putting it to very hard use. I mainly drill 1/8”-1/2” holes and drive 1 1/2”-3” screws with it. Ditto with the impact, except instead of drilling holes, it will rarely drive a lag screw instead. I bought Milwaukee’s top-of-the-line set for LONGEVITY and also for the warranty, assuming a 5 year warranty meant Milwaukee had confidence enough in their product to risk putting 2 extra years on the warranty compared to most others. Sure, the 1200/2000 inch pounds of torque for the drill and impact respectively are impressive, but I could care less if I have to run to the repair man every couple months and wait 2 weeks for it to be fixed. I dread the day when the warranty finely expires and I have 2 pieces of plastic with some motors inside. I expected to be able to have these tools for 10+ years...now I doubt I’ll have them for another year. Might just have to cut my losses and sell them to someone for cheap and get a different brand. What brand? I have no fracking clue. I will say this: before I got the Makita (which was before this Milwaukee set), I had a Black and Decker NiCd battery drill that, although slow, has never failed me (expect for the low battery life and torque, lol). We’ve had that drill for 10 years and has been used fairly heavily and it is still running fine. It was a cheap drill and has had less problems over the course of 10 years than my Milwaukee set has over the past few months. Update: The drill's chuck is terrible. It is now wobbling fairly poorly and has made driving screws significantly more difficult. The impact has a similar problem and its collet moves at completely ridiculous amounts. Perhaps up to a 1/16th of an inch (and it's only about 3/4" wide). For their top-of-the-line drill/impact, they are atrocious.

Works great and comes in the nice storage case. I got this set a few months ago so I’ve had a while to use it and determine a fair evaluation. I don’t usually write reviews but many people act this set is the end all best perfect tool out there. I am a pro carpenter and use this set every day of my life. So here’s the scoop. Good- Excellent power when you pick it up and have it on the right setting. Switching over from Bosch, this driver can sink 3 » screws all day on the 3 setting which is nice. Downsides- speed setting randomly gets bumped so I pick it up and it’s on 1 slow speed so I have to mess with it. Another down is the but holder doesn’t always grip your bit first try so you have to make sure it’s held. It will fall out on you if you’re up on a ladder then you climb all the way down to look on the ground for your bit, so that leaves a lot to be desired in terms of a reliable set up. The last bad is I’ve had the drill hesitate on me, I pull the trigger and nothing happens... release the trigger then pull it again and it’s fine. Wierd. These bad things I mention never happened on my Bosch sets, but the power and warranty of the Milwaukee still make me recommend it. So there you go, it’s good but don’t expect it to be perfect. Also the case should totally have room for a Milwaukee bit case. I had to build my own from poplar it fits in the charger location.

Yes I have to agree with Bob I have the same problem with my drill cutting out then I have to take the he battery out slide it back in then seems to go for a little bit. Also the chuck I find to be garbage to a guy who's hands seem to need a drill when working in different inviroments and one of the chuck jaws always seems to want to hang up inside the chuck and you have to fight with it in order to get a bit in without it being out of center

These drills are not good. I owned the previous version of Milwaukee drills for ten years. GREAT TOOLS. Finally traded them in when the batteries wore out. These new ones scuck in comparison. 1. The collar which allows you to switch between drill and hammer-drill is clunky, and difficult to turn. Today, mine jammed and stuck in place, and I can't move it with a pair of channel lock pliers. Only used a few days. 1b. Clutch doesn't seem to work. On the lowest setting, the drill will drive a screw well into softwood without slowing. 2. The old drill had a built in clip that would hold two bit drivers while you used a drill or whatever. They deleted this feature. And there's no option to add one. Idiocy. Why? 3. The drill's built-in light is located above the trigger, where naturally, the shank of the drill creates a shadow which obscures the point of the bit. Which is what you're actually trying to see. This is bad design. The light should be located at the base of the handle where it would be aimed up at the bit area. Idiotic. 4. Milwaukee used to be made here. Now made in SE Asia with the rest. Quality sucks. 5. I'll be buying Makita now. BYE MILWAUKEE.

I have delayed a bit on writing this review of the Milwaukee 2997-22 Combo set in order to have sufficient hands-on experience with the tools to offer information that is more than just a first impression of a new tool. I have owned and used many cordless and corded drills throughout the years, and I must say that this 2804 hammer drill is at least as powerful and fast as any corded drill and better than other cordless drills that I have used. The drill has absolutely enormous torque, that will “rip your arm off” if you let it. Drilling and hammer drilling are super-fast, even through dense and hard materials. Hammer drilling into poured concrete using large 3/8” and 1/2” by 12” masonry bits is like a hot knife through butter. With a masonry duplex bit for setting caulk-in anchors in concrete it is shockingly fast and easy. Using the drill as a driver is also very fast, and the clutch settings for the chuck are very easy to set accurately based on the fastener, material and desired torque on the set fastener. Much of this excellent drilling and driving is undoubtedly attributable to the extremely powerful, brushless motor. It is absolutely incredible, and almost shocking to have such a powerful and versatile drill in such a small form factor. This drill is definitely compact, which is a tremendous benefit when working in tight spaces. That this very compact drill delivers so much power is really remarkable. The high-speed gear range is very fast, and the low-speed gear range is really best for drilling through hard metals and for better speed control for some fastener driving operations (such as long lag screws into dense wood). Again, I find it incredible that such a compact and light drill is as powerful as this! The battery capacity is good, but it would probably be more convenient if the included battery charger could charge two batteries simultaneously. I really appreciate the battery test button with 4 LED bars on each of these lithium-ion batteries to show the remaining charge on the battery. I have read some critical reviews of this drill on Milwaukee’s own website, and I want to address them and offer my opinions regarding the criticisms written there. There are complaints that this drill runs hot, and that is true. When the drill is used heavily and/or for long periods the drill builds up heat. I have not experienced this with other cordless drills, but none of them were as small or as powerful as this drill, and I suspect that the heat is a product of such a powerful motor being constrained to such a small size. I have not found the heat to be a problem in using the drill; it does not slow down or lose power or stop running. I hope that running hot at times will not reduce the lifespan or reliability of the tool, long-term. It is far too soon to know. Others complained that the trigger sometimes sticks / hangs. I have also experienced this intermittently, where the trigger seems to be stuck when pressed, requiring jiggling of the trigger to free it up. I find this to be a very minor issue, albeit unexpected for a professional quality power tool. I also found (as did at least one other owner who posted) that the speed range selector slide switch on top of the drill housing is sometimes difficult to move (binding) between the two positions. I don’t know if this occasional annoyance is due to a poor design of the internal gear change lever which connects the plastic switch to the gearbox, or if it is due to the design of the plastic slide switch itself. Besides the complaint about the drill getting hot, the other apparently most common complaint is about the chuck wobbling. This too is a valid complaint. As I previously stated, I have owned and used many drills, and I have indeed experienced other drills with chucks that wobble. I have to assume that the chuck wobble on this model drill is resultant from a quality control shortcoming in the assembly process. The tolerances for chuck wobble appears to vary, but if it is too bad the results are oversized holes and great difficulty in driving fasteners (especially longer ones). As other users will also attest, the foregoing issues appear to be very common with this model drill. I checked both another new unit in the store, as well as the unit on display in the tool aisle, and both of them had the identical issues, as well. But for the foregoing, common issues, this drill is really a champ! The speed and torque ratings claimed by Milwaukee for this tool are about the best you will find, and based on my hands-on experience with this drill, I don’t doubt that they are true. This drill is all about p-o-w-e-r. The 2853 impact tool in this combo kit is also a champ and a powerhouse. This impact tool has four power/speed settings (electronically switched), which really accommodates every impact driving use ranging from driving small fasteners into sheet (gauge) metal, to driving large lag screws into very dense wood beams and columns. You can run it very slow, or very fast, as needed. It too is a remarkably powerful tool in a very small and light package. This tool is so compact, with such a short length, that it will work easily in very confined spaces. For both tools, most of the weight is in the batteries (IMHO); even so the tools are really very pleasant to handle and use for lengthy periods of time without complaint. They both have a rubber covering on the handles that provide for a very good grip and comfortable use. Both tools also have a bright LED light to illuminate your work, which is also great. In summary, both of these tools are very compact and lightweight, but are more powerful than any cordless tool that I have used. It is incredible that so much power is packed into such small tools!

Both impact an drill have tons of power. My first time ever owning anything by Milwaukee an I can say Milwaukee makes great tools.

These have been an amazing upgrade to my 20 year old power drills. I'm back to drilling through wood! The light helps more than I thought it would for getting into darker areas. The tools themselves are lightweight, but these 5Ah batteries are giant and heavy compared to my compact 18V Fuel one. I also haven't had the big batteries die me either, so that's nice. Love the belt clip on there for when I need my hand in the middle of something - very handy. There are a lot of new features on these, like different settings for different projects and a little add on piece, so reading the manual for a breakdown of those was really helpful. Overall, very pleased and have already put these to good use building a pair of french doors and installing some cabinets in my garage.

Milwaukee Fuel cordless tools are solid and do the job well. I am however replacing an impact driver that is about two-years old that does not drive screws as fast or with a as much force as it did when new-er. I've had Milwaukee cordless tools for many years and like the products very much. I'm hoping that the new Fuel design lasts longer than the older models. I would recommend this product to both trade and homeowners..

I am totally pleased with this Milwaukee M18 fuel 18-volt lithium-ion brushless cordless hammer drill and impact driver combo. Besides the hammer drill and impact driver, the set includes two lithium SC5.0 batteries, a battery charger, and heavy duty case. You can interchange over 70 tools. The drills are definitely heavy duty with lots of power. The speed option on the impact is awesome. The hammer drill is much more compact than my current one which allows more access to tight spaces. The LEDs are very bright and activate when you start drilling. The brushless design makes drilling smoother. And something I've yet to learn is the smartphone key system which allows you to customize connections for a specific application with an app.

I have been buying cordless drill-drivers for a couple decades. I've tried Black & Decker, DeWalt, Makita, Bosch, Hitachi and Ryobi brands in models ranging from 7.2 to 18 volts. For the past ten or fifteen years I've been a big fan of Ryobi's 18-Volt One+ tools and I own one or more of just about every One+ tool they make. I like Ryobi because they stayed with the same battery form-factor when they upgraded from Ni-Cad to Lithium Ion batteries and they made their battery chargers backwards compatible with the older technology. That means I can use my 15 year-old blue Ryobi drill-driver with the latest One+ 18-volt Lithium Ion batteries. All that said, I'm very impressed with this Milwaukee M18 Fuel Cordless Hammer Drill & Impact Driver combo kit. I have similar tools in my Ryobi collection, but these Milwaukee tools are more compact and run longer on a single battery charge. My Ryobi Lithium Ion batteries are rated at 4 Amp Hours while these smaller Milwaukee M18 Fuel batteries are 5 Amp Hour. Both of the tools -- the hammer drill and the impact driver feel really solidly built and worked flawlessly right out of the case. Speaking of which, they come packaged in a very nice durable plastic case with a place for everything and everything in its place. The impact driver weighs about 6 ounces less than my larger Ryobi impact driver and the shorter depth makes it easier to fit inot tight spaces. I had never used a cordless impact driver before about 1-1/2 years ago when I bought this Ryobi as part of a multi-tool promotion. I quickly learned to love it for removing and driving screws in just about any material. The Milwaukee impact driver does the same work in less space and feels even more powerful than the Ryobi. I don't have a Ryobi cordless hammer drill to compare directly to this Milwaukee M18 Fuel Hammer Drill. My other Bosch and Quantum hammer drills are both corded models that weigh a ton. However, comparing this to my regular Ryobi drill-driver it is 9 ounces heavier at 4 lbs 13 ounces without the extra side handle which adds another 10-1/2 ounces to the tool's weight. The side handle clamps securely to the area behind the torque selector collar -- it looks like it might not be strong enough for some serious hammer-drilling, but it is surprisingly solid once attached and the hammer action of this hammer drill is very subtle compared to my other hammer drills. Still it made quick work of smoothly drilling a 1/2 -inch hole clear through a 4x4 inch post. The Model 48-59-1812 battery charger included with this combo set is a bit larger than my Ryobi dual-energy chargers but it includes a separate bay for charging the older M12 battery packs. Since I don't own any M12 battery packs, I think I would have preferred one of the smaller single form-factor chargers. The kit includes two 5 Amp Hour M18 Fuel battery packs so you never need to run out of charge to run these beauties. This is a very nice and useful combination tool kit -- a bit higher priced than I'm used to paying for the Ryobi products, but worth it if you need the extra power and more compact size of the Milwaukee M18 Fuel tools.

This is the perfect "one and done" purchase. I own more cordless drills and drivers than anyone should. However if I had to keep just one set. It would be these. The kit comes with a case, 2 of the extended life 5ah batteries, and a rapid charger that will also charge any M12 batteries I have (one at a time though) The drill is my new favorite 18v cordless hammer drill. This thing is fast, and since I do a lot of drilling in wood, that is appreciated. It's also small in all dimensions. It's not small on power. My drill test is drilling holes in hardwood with Bosch Daredevil self feeding spade bits. These are really tough for cordless tools to handle. The milwaukee bested my previous king of the mountain - the Gen5X; with a 1 1/4" daredevil through hardwood in one shot. And the Gen5x is HUGE in comparison. This drill is smaller and lighter than my bosch, ryobi, craftsman,ridgid and Dewalt (although VERY close to the DW) in size. I used the standard M18 2AH battery (not included) for the size comparison pictures. Use the aux handle for the big stuff. It's a wrist breaker. In addition to the drilling power and speed, it's got a ton of torque in the lower gear for driving screws and lags. I'm spoiled by my impact drivers for these tasks, but when they aren't at reach the drill delivers effortlessly. The impact driver would be my favorite hands down if I didn't own the Milwaukee M18 Surge impact. That driver is in my top 5 best tools of any kind ever made. The standard M18 1/4" impact driver included in this kit is more than capable of any task thrown at it. It's perfect for driving long screws, and even has a special mode for driving self tappers into sheet metal. I almost never need any more power or speed than "2" but it's there when I do need it. It's the most compact of the drivers I own. It's even more compact than my M12. I am continually impressed with Milwaukee's Fuel line. Both M12 and M18 This pair does not disappoint.

Perfect tools for so many jobs! These are well built and I am counting on them lasting me many years. Easy to use, The clips on the base allow you to hook it to a pants pocket quickly & easily, giving you both hands to prepare your work. I used these for a week before I noticed the push button near the battery slide that changes the speed. Most useful when driving drywall screws I don't want full speed. You won't find a better long lasting tool! Has a great LED light too!

This is a combo of a drill and impact driver. The quality is excellent and I am comparing this to my Dewalt which I have had for 5 years. The box is solid, very strong, no problem stacking things on top of this. Great looking tools with the usual colors but they feel great. They have ergonomic grips and everything just feels good. Weight is pretty good and compared to my 18v Dewalt much lighter than that.Have not tested the battery length but comes with a battery on both tools and a charger. The power is much stronger than my Dewalt it pretty much goes through anything easily. (Have not tried concrete though). Overall, I really like the look and feel and it does what it's supposed to do. I would compare these tools to higher end tools like Makita and Bosch.

Milwaukee M18 Fuel 2-Tool Combo Kit 2997-22 review: Milwaukee does it again! As my Grandson says when something impresses him - BAM! This combo kit with the Hammer Drill 2804 and Impact Driver 2853 is just incredible, powerful and useful! I mean it! They are a real joy to use. The hard case is great - my first one. This gives added protection to the tools instead of soft bags. Here are my comments on each component for the kit: • Case: o Holds tools securely. o Protects tools very well. o Handle makes it easy to carry. o Looks great. o No recommended modifications. • Impact Driver: o Collet: One handed bit insertion. Two handed bit removal. Use Milwaukee magnetic bit holders for quick changes and easier view of work area. o LED Light: Under collet and points up. Shows work area very well. o Small size: Really small size and easy to hold. Feels very comfortable when using. Small size allows tool to be used in cramped work areas. o 4 speed control: BEST feature of all. 3 speeds plus metal driving setting. Allows for delicate driving of screws and also has brute force driving. Easy to change speeds even for large hands. o Powerhouse in small form - Incredibly useful and enjoyable to use. Batteries (5ah) last extremely long time. o No recommended modifications. • Hammer Drill: o Smaller than GEN2 model. o Separate mode selector collar removed. This makes the drill shorter to get into cramped areas. I missed it at first but the smaller length is more important. o LED light has been moved to bottom of tool and illuminates the work area better than GEN2 model. o Extremely powerful and a real powerhouse. I have used it to drill completely through a 4x4 piece of lumber with a large spade bit and through steel quickly with Milwaukee Cobalt drill bits and some cutting oil. I have another brand drill that locked up on both those tasks. o Under extreme drilling the battery does NOT shake off the tool - the other brand I have does. Thank goodness for Milwaukee's design of mounting the batteries to the tool! o A real joy to use and the 5 ah batteries last an extremely long time. o Recommendation: Make the drill function selector a set of LEDs like the Impact Driver instead of a mechanical collar but keep the torque settings on the mechanical collar. • 5 amp hour batteries: o Last an extremely long time on both tools. o One hour to charge. o No recommended modifications. • Charger: o Charges M18 batteries and M12 batteries in separate slots. o Batteries charge sequentially not simultaneously. o No recommended modifications. Wives, this makes a GREAT Christmas gift for your husband! There ya go!
