Got this because we were redoing our internet and adding a few more rooms to hardwire some cameras. This is a good tool if the only thing you want to do is attach your modular rj45 and rj11 jacks. IT works great for that you can see what your doing and it holds it nice and tight.. But then you also need a wire cutter and stripper we have these wire strippers Store SKU #547005. also bought some 2 port wall plates Store SKU #595177 and thankfully that job is done

A beast of a crimper. When you insert your jack and wire for crimping, it has an insanely great bite! It holds the jack very firmly, yet lets go as if you were unplugging it from a wall when done. The ratcheting mechanism works precisely and makes with ease. It will automatically release the ratcheting mechanism when the crimp is complete or you may easily rotate the release knob at any position in the crimp. The feel and strength of the crimper is outstanding. The precision is spot on! You can install a jack on the end of a cable in a matter of minutes with the available accessories of a stripper and punchdown tool by Milwaukee.

The crimper is simple and easy to use. Designed for R11 & R45 connectors, once you get the wires stripped and inserted into the appropriate connector opening, just squeeze until it sets the pins in the connector. The insulated grip, while plastic, is comfortable in my hand and makes it easy to squeeze when I’m crimping the connector. It is very well made, heavy duty crimper. I recommend this.

As I am a user of all tools Milwaukee, both hand and power tools. I am impressed with the quality and comfort of the crimper. It handles well as at times I need to do a hundred or more RJ45 ends at a switch in a data room environment. The handles to this tool are padded just enough for a comfortable grip but still takes the pressure when driving home the task of attachment to CAT 5/6 data cables. There are many brands and types of these crimpers on the market and I rate the Milwaukee amongst the top three in my toolbox, but the Milwaukee is the most comfortable to work with especially in a repetitive environment. This tool does not have a built in stripper as some other brands have, a small sacrifice to pay for the quality of this product. At times I've had to purchase other brands and types getting stuck with low quality crimper that I just need for a quick job. At some locations the local retail outlet or hardware store doesn't carry much of a selection. Most of them end up in recycling by the end of the day. You get what you pay for!

These are great crimpers. I would have to say the best part of these crimpers is the comfortable handles. The crimper has two RJ options: 6 and 8. The most common RJ out there is 8. However, there are a few 6 and occasional 4. I did not try it on a 4. The crimper makes a positive crimp and connections that are tight. the ratcheting feature allows you to slowly crimp the wire into the connector to make sure you are getting a good connection.

Very nice crimper. These are never cheap but when you get a nice one you hold on to it for years/decades. This is one you will want to hold onto. What I like: • High quality steel mechanisms and built to last with equal and balanced pressure. • Hard plastic grips with grooves. Easy to hold with above average ergonomics. • You don’t need heavy pressure to finish the crimp and only one squeeze gets the job done. • Good visibility while using. • Most important part is that it works and it works well. I had zero issues with any of my connectors. What I don’t like: • The price is higher than your normal crimper but this is also the nicest, most accurate crimper I’ve used so you will need to consider your budget and needs. I’m a fan of these for the reasons above. It’s a nice addition to the tool collection. I fully recommend.

Ratcheting feature ensures this will last a long time. I compared this ratcheting modular crimper to a non-ratcheting variety and found this one to be much more solid, with longer-lasting components and a better feel. Non-ratcheting crimpers suffer from compression fatigue: after a number of good crimps, they lose their ability to return to normal, and quit making solid connections on your phone or ethernet connectors. The ratchet mechanism, along with high-quality dies, ensures that the crimper can ratchet to however much pressure it needs, then release that pressure when the crimp is complete. This crimper is for non-pass through wire ends, but you may also consider a pass-through wire crimper. Home Depot sells both kinds of tools, and both kinds of connectors. This one, the non-pass through type, is by far more common. The pass-through type lets the 4, 6 or 8 wires pass all the way through the jack, then both crimps the jack and trims the wires. I personnally like the pass-through type because it serves as a final check that I have the color-coding in the proper order. Sometimes, a wire pair can cross inside the jack. As a 51-year old, my eyesight isn’t what it used to be. The usability difference is small, though, and Non-pass through types like this are easy enough to use with a pair of reading glasses for final inspection. You can’t beat the feel and rugged durability of this Milwaukee ratcheting modular crimper. It’s more expensive than alternatives, but worth it if you’re doing RJ11 and RJ45 installations on more than one job. I’m impressed and will recommend this to friends.

excellent, commercial quality Milwaukee crimping tool. I recently used a few Milwaukee tools and am extremely satisfied with the quality. Nice size, weight and balance. This tool crimps both RJ11 (telephone) and RJ45 (Cat5/6 - ethernet) cable ends. It's easy to work with and does an excellent job at securing the cable end. There are lots of youTube videos on how to properly install an RJ45 end (which I normally do when installing Cat5 bulk cable). It's nice to only run one long strand of cable (e.g. home security cameras or any other, long Cat5/6 cable runs). I definitely recommend this product for anyone looking in this category.

I'm very impressed with the quality and heavy-duty power of this crimper. The handles can be locked closed for storage. The ratcheting mechanism doesn't release until the contacts are fully seated. The plugs fit firmly and latch into the position. There are 6 catches/stops in the ratcheting mechanism, but one full squeeze is sufficient to fully and evenly seat the contacts. This crimper should last a lifetime, and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. The ratchet mechanism can be accessed by removing 5 C-clips in case servicing is ever needed. My old crimpers required multiple squeezes, wiggling the connector and retrying, and lots of pressure, all qualities I'm happy to part with now that I have this super-crimper.

There isn't much to a crimper tool - it just needs to be well built to hold up to the task and to successfully deliver full, uniform force on the modular plug. The Milwaukee Cat 5/6 crimping tool does both very well. The insulated grip handle is well built to take on heavy squeeze pressure and the inline crimp head is made of solid metal material to apply equal force on the modular plug. The crimping die has well grooved teeth to fully press the modular stabs into solid core 23AWG Cat 6 cable. I also appreciate the ratcheting handle system that helps hold pressure on the crimp head until a full crimp is made. The crimp head accepts all modular plugs I use including shielded plugs. This crimping tool has a perfect companion; the Milwaukee stripper: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-Category-5-6-Stripper-48-22-3065/301878940

    Why is this so expensive?
Can't figure out why this product is so expensive. When I lost my old one I paid up thinking this would be improvement, but I think they just charge more because it's red lol.

      No pass through
Does not work with pass through connectors which is pretty much all most install technicians use these days.

Missing the blade for the pass-through connector
Hello, I work as a Senior Data Center Technician. We use the RJ45 CAT6 pass through connectors, unfortunately the Milwaukee 48-22-3075 tool does not work with this kind of connector. I hope Milwaukee soon offers an updated version of the low voltage crimping tool. Regards.

            Pass through
If the RJ45 side was designed for pass through fittings where the crimper has a blade and cuts off flush, there wouldn’t be enough stars to rate how good these be in the field.

              Needs a cutter
Great product but it's missing a key component that this type of crimper should have which is a cutter. For RJ-45 type connectors you need a straight cut to ensure a proper fit in the RJ-45. I realize you can make a cut with scissors but its much easier when the crimper has the cutter built in.

Great product, could be better on the second gen!
Being a data technician, I use this almost every day. I love the look and feel of the crimpers, my only complaint is that it doesn’t have a blade in front of the crimper to cut passthrough mod plugs. If that was added to a second generation, I’d be much happier with it. Otherwise, a great tool for any voice/data tech.

I needed some work done around my house. I did not know how to use this tool, yet I knew I really could use this. My friend came over and showed me how to use this. Wow, this is awesome. I was able to finally do this on my own thanks to this great tool. It is so great for me because of the grip. So easy to use and I am very happy to have this. Thank you.

So I have several different brands of data crimpers. I have crimpers ranging from $30 to $140, for price these fall right in the middle. I like this crimper a lot. The ratcheting action is smooth, you can release part way through the crimp with the release lever, the crimp is even across all the pins by having it come straight up to crimp. Some other brands have a stronger force on one side and weaker on the other. The grips are comfortable, the weight is heavy compared to others but it is a quality tool, there is no plastic on this tool. Rubber grips, everything else is metal. Time to sell off my other crimpers to coworkers.

The Milwaukee Ratcheting Modular Crimper gives you fast and accurate crimps when trying to crimp modular jacks. The tool is quality made and gives you added visibility when trying to make a modular crimp. The tool is designed for all RJ45 and Rj11 modular jacks. The RATCHETING MODULAR CRIMPER made installing ends on my wires simple and easy. I have tried to do this same project with other crimping tools and had disaster after disaster as they were not the right tool for the job. The fact that these are from Milwaukee almost guarantees that the job will come out right. A good quality tool makes the difference between success or failure in crimping.

The Milwaukee Category 5/6 Crimpers are heavy duty for those that work with CAT 5/6 cabling. The Crimpers are made of high quality material and have a very professional feel. The rubber grips are very comfortable to minimize fatique while are working. They are spring loaded and you can lock the grips when not in use for easy storage. These are much better than others i have owned.
