This kit is LARGE - 350 lbs shipping weight - shipped via truck from British Columbia, so it took a week to get to NC. Instructions are clear and easy to follow, and the panels are put together well. It says it will take about 5 hours to assemble, it took me about double that, but still not difficult. The hardware was short of a few 8 x 1" screws, but I had plenty of them, so no problem. The use of a power drill/screwdriver is highly recommended, and you might want to get a 4" long 1/8" drill bit so you don't have to angle too much some of the pilot holes. The only thing I did not like much were the plastic hinges, they look like they will fatigue-fail in short order, so I replaced them with steel hinges I had lying around. The beds are 33" deep, a lot of topsoil, so we used 15" of clean straw as the base, followed by a layer of untreated cardboard (from the kit boxes), a layer of mulch and then the topsoil. We will top it off as the base layers compost and compact, and in a couple of years we will have a nice compost layer that can be mixed. The finished garden looks beautiful!

Make sure you have good clamps as you screw the sections together. The section that keeps the deer out will do just that but every small critter can get in. We added regular screening to the sides and built a top in to sections that can easily be removed.

Not Happy This is not a kit as expected. You just get the wood and have to predrill your own holes to assemble. Wood came with huge chunks out of it, did NOT happen during shipment as there was no broken chunks of wood inside the boxes(they packed it that way)--Not to mention once you order this from Home Depot and expect them to deliver it, You get an email from a company in Canada, telling you to call them or they wont ship it until you do. Then you also have to call another part of their company to set up a specific delivery time frame or they wont deliver. Then they were late in the time frame and hubby late for work waiting for this heavy delivery. Its a drop-ship product that I feel Home Depot should have mentioned when they sold to me.

I don't have experience with other products to compare this to, but I can tell you that these are solid, they look beautiful, and they are SO much easier to work with than ground level. We had a contractor assemble for us, and he mentioned that it is not quite as simple as the assembly of predrilled furniture, but it is close. If you use raised beds, I recommend a 50/50 mix of topsoil and mushroom compost. It is working well for us so far. If possible, buy it from a local dirt place and get it dumped in your driveway. One cubic yard per raised bed will do it. (We have two beds, so we ordered two cubic yards).

Pros Durable, Easy to Install, Functionality, Great Quality, Good Shape

We were under prepared for this venture. I would recommend more emphasis on site preparedness. Once we got to the actual assembly of the structure, it did not take long. Filling with soil was a back breaking job, (would recommend hiring 4 young individuals to install the soil). The plastic hinges are not too impressive (we will see how long these last).

I bought the 8x12, it came in 4 boxes. I was pleasantly surprised that after inventory of the parts all was included, nothing missing. Lots of parts but all in tact. Pretty easy to assemble, once you have the ground prepared and leveled. Not sure I bought their suggestion it could be done in 5 hours, maybe if you had a couple of people working it, and that excludes ground prep But all in all I am very happy with the purchase and the product. I do worry about how long it will last being in the weather and in constant contact with ground and soil. We shall see. Really the only thing I would suggest for improvement is that all the hinges for the trellis and the gate are plastic. I might replace with metal...but I will see how the plastic holds up before I do that. I would purchase again.

I can't say enough about this garden. Not only does it look beautiful it is a great design. Off the ground, keeps dogs out. Good working area designed to be able to reach everything.
