I used GAF starer strips on my house, and bought some Owens Corning starter shingles to finish-up the last of two adjacent refuse and recycle enclosures. The Owens Corning starter strips were definitely less stiff than the GAF ("stiffer is better" to prevent "uplift") and significantly more tar in the strip used to adhere your edge shingles to the starter strip). The Owens Corning starter shingles separate more cleanly than the GAFs, but use GAF starter strips if you live in an area that encounters high winds.

These starter strips work very well and are much cheaper than the starter strip roll.

I installed these starter shingles along the entire perimeter of a 12’ x 12’ gabled roof. I used less than half of the shingles a single package. I notched out a 3” x 3” section in each corner to allow the rake side adhesive strip to drop 3” into the top edge of eve starter shingles. These starter shingles make it easy to make sure the exposed edges of your edge row of shingles stay attached and dry underneath during strong wind and sideways rain. We don’t have hurricanes in Phoenix, but we do have monsoon storms with strong winds and copious precipitation that occurs at extreme angles. Each sheet in the pack contains two starter shingles that need to be pulled apart. The two halves seperate easily. The starter shingles are easy to install. The finished roof with 3-tab asphalt shingles looks great with these starter shingles below.

Good product but there was a variation in color. Some were darker/lighter in color but could only tell once installed.

This product served all my needs for a new roof. I would recommend this product to anyone doing a new roof. They were easy to use and the perforations came apart easily and quickly.

Roofing Starter Strip Shingle good quality for your house project.

Good quality shingles. Color/shading was what I was looking for. These architectural shingles are so much easier to lay than 3 tabs and look better too. My only complaint was that a quite a few edges were beat up, I’m guessing from handling with forklift and transit. Just cut off edges and used.
