The Portacool came out of the box, ready to use with minimum effort. Filled the tank with water, simple to use, easy to move around. Just what we needed to beat the Texas heat. 3 weeks of beating the heat, should have bought it last year.

Great unit, relatively quiet. BUT.... few things to notice. 1. There are no handles on the side to carry or lift. 2. The first few days it smells horrible, like ink.

2 failed water pumps
Worst unit I have ever had. 2 water pump replacements in first year, it also leaked water out the back and did not cool as well as a $150.00 unit. Will never purchase another.

We were on the fence with this product because it is significantly more expensive than the other evaporative coolers. Particularly, we noted that the CFM and sq ft coverage is less than it’s competitors however, the output and temperature makes it worth it. Would recommend to other people and is lightweight enough to carry to mobile jobs.

Works very well. Had an issue with it spitting water out the back, but after reading the user manual I turned the water flow down using the knob on the side. Haven't had a problem with it after that.

A strange smell is normal for about the first two weeks of usage. Our unique design and manufacturing technique, together with our superior materials, enable our products to perform efficiently within a wide range of conditions. Our evaporative media products allow complete molecular evaporation of water when installed correctly, ensuring a pure, clean stream of air. A small number of aromatic molecules may evaporate along with the water molecules, which could be detected as a slight smell when the product is new. This scent lessens in time. Our product does not, in any way, allow harmful chemicals to be evaporated into the air stream.

Disappointing.
I was excited when I bought this. It looked more heavy duty than the previous evaporative cooler I owned. It turned out not to be at all. The pump gave out on the first unit after about a month. I returned to Home Depot and exchanged it. The pump on the second unit failed lasted two months. These things give the whole "Made in the USA" idea a bad name.

Sturdy Construction but a leaker!
The water that flows over the filter element constantly spewed water all over garage floor and hose connector also leaked. Just made a big puddle and in my case too much humidity in the garage even though I had a window open and the attic hatch open to garage attic vents. I returned it the next day.

Exceeds Expectations!
Here in CA, we experience PSPSs (Public Safety Power Shutoffs) during the fire season; they can last for over a week, depending on wind speeds, temperatures, and humidity. I have portable backup generators, however was looking for something better than fans to keep the living space cool. The Cyclone 120 fits the bill! Although no PSPS’s yet this year (2022), the performance at this point has me convinced that my family will be comfortable during the next PSPS. Bring it!

The water distribution pipe is cheap and does not evenly...
The water distribution pipe is cheap and does not evenly distribute water over the evaporative media. When you open up the valve to saturate the media, water will spill out the back of the unit so you need to use a pan or towel to catch the water. For the amount of money I spent on this unit, I am disappointed that this problem exists.

This is my fourth swamp cooler and must admit the previous Master Cool though bulkier was by far cooler than this latest version. Unless I’m less than a few feet away do not feel the effect if expected.

Not a worth your money or time
Made mistake of buying American. Lasted 1 summer then pump went went out. Thanks Home Depot and Portacool. I will go back to China and Lowe’s for my next patio cooler

I called Porta Cool and spoke with sales person who guarenteed that this would cool my covered patio. I made the purchase and was greatly disappointed. It only cooled the person who was in direct line of the airflow. Nothing else worked. I wish it had a wider area of coverage. It did get returned

Evaporative coolers work best as “spot coolers.” While the entire area will receive a temperature reduction, the individual or animal directly in front of the product will experience the most cooling.
