I used this product after having a soil test performed by VA Tech. It shows my ph is 5.8, too low for rescue grass. My only issue was the spreader setting of 4,as per the bag instructions would clog due to some of the size of some of the granular were too large. Moved setting for my Scott's Deluxe to 5 and problem resolved. May have used a little more product but sure it did not hurt. Will it work? Does it work as advertised ? Only time will tell. I bought it on the promise of fast acting and loved not having to buy, haul home 13 bags of pellet line. Only needed 5/30 pound bags. That is a win for me Will retest and update in fall. Hope it works and the negative reviews are wrong. Fyi sticky never happened for me.

Pennington must have fixed the "sticky" problem
Material was dry out of the bag. Ran through stanadard Scott broadcast spreader. No issues. I wore rubber boots based on the previous reviews but did not need to. Nothing stuck to the boots. Spreader was bone dry and empty as well so I didn't have to clean that or the boots. Watered in really well and it rained about a half inch last night. My lawn is already greener. 4000 SqFt. Started with 60 lbs. Beginning PH was 5. I will report final material requirements, time interaval, and PH readings if 6.5 goal is not achieved this round.

This Stuff is Amazing!
All these "it's sticky", "what does AST even mean" reviews ... C'mon. It's fast acting lime like fast acting fertilizer -- water soluble, not slow release water insoluble like dolomitic lime. That "it's sticky", well ... that's AST that helps a water soluble application bind/hold/stay to/in the soil, like Bentonite, so it doesn't just flush, wick away. This stuff is amazing! Personally, my soils went from a 5.0 pH to 6.0pH in 8 days after watering in and 1 day of 0.70" rain 2 days later. I added 9 more lbs. to the area and 10 days later -- BOOM, pH was 6.5 (10 test cores at 4" deep). As for the sticky ... yeah, it's slick, not "sticky." I want it that way so it doesn't just wick right through my soils. Just know that and clean accordingly. It's no big deal -- at all.

Should Have Read Reviews Before Buying
I had the same experience as others. I just bought a brand new spreader. Only used two bags. Product was dry to the touch until I went to clean spreader with water after use. I also ended up with a gooey sticky mess. I hope my spreader is not ruined. First time use so I don't know if the product is any good but I will not use again.

I mainly put lime down to counteract the dogs urine, it really helps out the grass is thick and very few dog spots, I will add another bag in a month or so.

Love this stuff!
I am a beginner farmer and have been doing soil samples every quarter for the past two years. I send my soil samples to the same lab every quarter. I used regular lime and basically saw nothing happened on my ph level for a year. I used this product and followed the directions for 20k so feet and I added two more bags. three month's later my soil ph had gone from a 5.5 to a 6.2....in 3 months. I will be using this product again. I love it!

Also sticky.
I also have used this product (along with other lime products) for years, and just applied some to a damp lawn after rains the evening before (and before another storm coming to water it in for me). I also found the wheels of my spreader caked with a sticky slimy goop that had lime granules in it. My shoes had some too, but the spreader had it worse. I found the mess somewhat resistant to being washed off with water, but it eventually came off.It was somewhat slick and sticky, reminding me a bit of slug slime, but a bit less slick, and not nearly as hard to remove as slug slime. I am guessing this sticky stuff is either part of the granule binding, or is intended to get it the lime to stick to the ground (once wet) and keep it from washing away. Either way, I suggest applying the product to fairly dry ground (you want your spreader to stay dry) to avoid this issue. I also noticed that in past years, this was based on calcitic lime (>95% CaCo3, < 5% MgCo3) and white in color. This batch and is 80% CaCo3/20%MgCo3, and is brown like dolomite. Presumably the product is now made by mixing calcitic limestone with dolomitic. This is probably better for most lawns, but be sure to check the analysis. Regardless of the mild mess, I still like the product. It does seem to produce results faster than common lime, which really takes a year or so to get going. I will also ding the product a bit for "empty marketing hype... The whole "Advanced Soil Technology (AST)" thing is never really defined other than being "advanced soil technology"... so what benefit is AST supposed to confer? Sounds cool, but means nothing.

Won't buy again
What a mess. Applied today. Started to sprinkle a little bit but I kept going thinking rain would help the product sit. Took about 30 minutes to apply to my 10,000 sqft yard. Took another 30 minutes to clean up the mess. Sticky mess all over spreader and my shoes. Washed the spreader as to not ruin it and had to throw away my shoes. Huge disappointment. I don't have high hopes for the application to have done much but waste my time and money.

Sticky Business
I have used this product for years to my satisfaction. But just completed putting it in my yard and there was a sticky stringy mess all over my spreader and shoes. Never experienced this before. Very difficult to wash off as not water solvable. Whatever this new additive is, it is not value added. It's a mess. Sure hope it is safe for my pets as it will clearly live on top of the soil for some time.

This is normally a fine granule lime but this bag contained big chunks of lime which are not good for mixing with succulent potting mixes. I need fine granules for my purposes which is why I buy this product. Quality control on the manufacturer's end needs improvement.

First of all this was very easy to use. I put it in my spreader, as the bag suggests to do, and it was enough to cover my whole front yard (the bag is good for up to 1000 square feet). I did see an improvement in my lawn after using as this will add minerals to the lawn and balance the PH of the soil. I will be using this periodically to help promote natural growth.

A fellow dog owner suggested that I spread lime on my yard to get rid of the odor and residue of the dog urine. I was skeptical.
I ordered the bag and followed her instructions and sprinkled the lime with a fertilizer spreader I made sure to wear a face mask (I have the medical kind) and long sleeves.
This is supposed to help reduce the acidity of my yard, due to the urine from the dogs.
