purchased 20 cases of pure black oak, laid it down and it is not pure black at all, there are at least 4 different shades of black through grey. looks awful but decided to live with it. Home depot was out of stock for several weeks so i had to wait to get the last cases i needed for the bedroom, these 6 cases were all pure black just like i imagined the first 20 cases would be, night and day difference. im about to tear out the 20cases and go buy more....over $1000 wasted! not happy!.

Bought 2 cases and could not lay it down without gaps. Called Pergo and they said take it back to Home Depot for a warranty claim. Home Depot decided 2 cases were not worth the trouble and ate the cost and ordered 2 new cases. I will be returning those shortly because of the same issue, and I do not expect Home Depot to eat this cost, I want Pergo to correct the issue. Read other reviews on Pergo site and saw the same issues.

Gorgeous Black Flooring!
I really appreciate the black color of this flooring and was pleased to discover it at Home Depot for a reasonable price. It's exactly what I was looking for and I would definitely consider purchasing it again in the future. I want to note that dust and dirt are more noticeable on the black flooring, but if you're okay with frequently mopping to keep it clean, this flooring is absolutely stunning in a black shade.

    pergo black
I purchased pergo black flooring it said it holds up against pets claws and feeding. within a matter of days the floor looks like it's been down for decades, it has faded a stool scratched the floor it is so embarrassing it is right in the line of you when you walk in the house. they won't let me put one picture on here of it. I contacted mohawk / pergo they told me to go through the home Depot I did they sent in a complaint to pergo and I have heard nothing it is so upsetting for me to go through this renovation in my kitchen and be so unhappy. I am waiting for them to contact me to compensate me for this problem and they will not do so. please beware of the pure black pergo flooring. I did everything I was supposed to and I am waiting. I tried to edit this review from where it said feeding instead of fading but it will not let me do it.

Is not scratch resistant and also chips easily
I have found multiple scratches on my floor that are very noticeable. It really shows too because it's black flooring and they're white scratches. I bought these for the basement because they were waterproof and scratch resistant. I have dogs and you can see all of the claw marks that they make. I would really like some sort of compensation. I put days into installing just for it to get scratches from dogs when it literally says it's scratch resistant to dogs...

Great flooring. Two downsides: One, every small chip in the flooring becomes obvious. Two, because it’s black, you see every dog hair, dust etc.

          Not scratch proof
After multiple months of ordering, installing, ordering more, thresholds not fitting, hand making thresholds, finally the floor was done and it looked so good! About one week later i noticed a scratch and this divet. I live alone and nothing memorable happened to cause this

            HOME RUN CHOICE
Beautiful black wood-look floor. It is neither shiny nor matte black but rather what you would expect to see from natural wood. It isn’t slippery for humans or pets (we keep his pads and nails groomed). Doesn’t feel like cheap plastic. Has attached padding but purchased additional for added comfort, warmth, sound barrier. Purchased matching transition pieces too. No regrets on either. One con - it will show every speak of dirt, dust, & hair but it’s so beautiful. I am happy to sweep every day!

We installed 520 sq feet of this flooring in our "media" (play) room. The subflooring was already pre-finished as plywood subfloor (leveled, sanded down and stained). We are very pleased with the final result. This was our first ever install of Pergo Outlast+ and flooring in general. So, is it doable for DIYers? Absolutely. General observations on quality: 1. Lifetime warranty for residential applications 2. No need to "rest" the boards for 48-72 hours (yet we did none the less). 3. Click-lock mechanism worked on all boards - zero defects from any of the packages. 4. One person install is doable - we did it - you can too. 5. Easy to cut - we utilized Ridgid 18-Volt SubCompact Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless 3 in. Multi-Material Saw with blades for wood/plastic. Cuts were smooth like "butter with a knife." 6. Quality is definitely noticeable - surface feels smooth to touch. 7. Scratches are very difficult to put on this flooring - we tried using sharp (knife/scissors) tools to use to outline cuts - it was next to impossible to scratch to make visible lines for cuts. So, we used black marker instead (difficult to see as well, by the way on this flooring color). Upon completion, we moved our quite large sofa furniture back and forth on this flooring - not even one scratch. So, there should be no concerns with pets or children ruining this flooring. 8. We ordered 34 boxes for 520 (+/- 10') square feet. Although we finished the project with about 10' sq feet left - we recommend to order +10% on top of your existing square footage. 9. Floors are not slippery at all. Not too shiny either. They look and feel "real." Lots of compliments - it changed our room's feel and look completely (from a rustic look to a modern one). 10. Per manufacturer - no toxic fumes or "shady" practices making this flooring - high quality and "sealed." When installing this flooring - advised to have two pairs of hands. While one person makes cuts - other one lays it out. However, one person job is possible as well - we did it - you can too. Took about 10 full hours to install, trim, clean. We used matching edging with this product and nailed it in. Super easy and FUN project! We highly recommend to use product for homes - it creates that "finished" and high-end look, while keeping one's "scope" on a budget. A few boards did have an elongated "crack" that was filled with brown filler (can find it in flooring department in HD). But it was our fault rather than quality of boards. Again - this was our first install with no prior experience. Total DIY. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for budget-conscious home owners! AAA+++

I have installed several types and brands of flooring products, and I really like this flooring from Pergo. At a thickness of 10mm (about 38-inch), this Outlast+ waterproof laminate flooring from Pergo is relatively thick and feels like a quality compared to many other laminate flooring products on the market. The Black Valley Oak color is very dark, but picks up some lighter overtone when the light hits it, which gives a warm appearance. An approximately 1/16-inch foam underlayment is pre-installed, so you do not need to separately install underlayment before putting down this flooring. There are 8 planks per case, and a case covers just over 16 sq. ft. The planks closely resemble wood planks, and have a thick top layer for durability with a deep grain pattern and hand-scraped textured top layer with character marks which give this flooring the look and feel of real hardwood. The sides and ends are micro beveled, which gives the look of individual planks. The bevel is shallow so dust, dirt and everything imaginable doesn’t gets trapped in the beveled edge. The micro bevel edge will also help to prevent the edged of the flooring from lifting, which is something you typically see with laminate flooring that has square edges. For the most part, each plank in the box has a different grain pattern, adding to the realism, but once you open several boxes and spread them around, you’ll find there are duplicates, so you want to make piles of the same flooring and select your planks so two of the same aren’t installed too close to one another. The dark color makes it more difficult to see duplicate patterns in the planks than a lighter color where it’s a lot more obvious. Each box contains a detailed installation instruction sheet. The instructions are generic and not specific to this flooring. Installation is easy however I encountered a problem early on in the installation where the click-lock joints appeared to not be fully-engaging, resulting in the long edge of the plank standing about ¾-inch off the floor, which is something I had not experienced with other flooring products. After some extra coaxing with the palm of my hand, a tapping block and a rubber mallet, the flooring laid down. For an easier installation, its important to open all of the boxes, completely removing the protective plastic, and allow the planks to sit in the space for several days prior to installation. I may have tried to install the flooring too soon and this may have resulted in the lifting and difficulty installing the flooring I was experiencing. After the planks sat an extra day, they installed without further issue. The grain pattern and texturing is pronounced enough to provide grip, so the flooring isn’t slippery. When installed, it’s difficult to distinguish this laminate flooring from that of natural hardwood flooring. It even sounds like walking on hardwood. This click-lock flooring installs with only a handful of tools, and you can walk on it and replace furniture immediately after it’ installed. The flooring is durable, but care is still needed when tapping the planks together with a tapping block to prevent damage to the click-lock connection points, or chipping the ends. The tongue that runs along the length of each plank is brittle and I took chunks or broke the click-lock mechanism off several planks during the installation, so I fortified the joint with a white glue made for flooring. This flooring is made in the good ole’ USA, looks like real hardwood, and is waterproof for use in any room and any level of the home, even the basement. I installed this flooring in a small bedroom, to replace wall-to-wall carpeting that had seen better days, but plan to also install it in a kitchen and entryway. I purchased a mallet and a box of spacers/shims, a pull bar, and a tapping block, which made installing this product very easy. Without these few tools, installation would have been difficult if not impossible to coax the planks completely into place. While not necessary, I applied a thin bead of glue on each joint to prevent separation of the planks over time, which is a problem I had with another popular brand of laminate flooring. I was concerned the installed flooring would constantly look dusty or show footprints, but that thankfully is not the case, and it shows no more dust and dirt than any other color flooring, and is easy to clean with a damp mop or pad. I still have more flooring to put down, but the part of the floor that is finished looks great and is a huge improvement over the old carpeting. I initially wasn’t sure how well dark flooring would look in my home, although I have seen it used many times in others home improvement projects, but I am very satisfied with it. It’ adds a nice modern look to my mid-90’s home. The quality of this Pergo flooring is very good and I expect it will look great and perform well for many years to come. Highly recommended.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT great looking, sturdy and well made easy to clean. I chose this mainly because it is waterproof. I have a dog who goes everywhere. Underlayment is pre-installed which makes installation even easier. I installed this flooring in my covered outdoor patio over vinyl over a concrete slab 16' x 18'.Very easy installation. It took me about 2 days all by myself. Directions included in a pdf. file under the description of this item or you can use a number of different YouTube videos even Home Depot has an installation video. I used a fine tooth blade in my table saw for my cuts. I recommend knee pads for saving your knees.

We had Pergo Outlast+ installed in our child's bedroom because we knew carpet would not be good for a baby. We picked laminate because its ease of installation, cost, and durability. Pergo is the go to brand for laminate flooring and the Outlast+ series shows why, its high quality, looks great, and is very durable. The waterproof rating is critical for any man made flooring because if water got into the fibers it could ruin it, so it is very important to follow the installation directions to make sure it is actually waterproof. The surface has a more natural feeling texture which makes walking on it barefoot very comfortable. The built in padding is sufficient on a plywood subfloor, however if installing on concrete I would suggest adding their underlayment padding for additional comfort. Overall we are very happy with Pero Outlast+ and intend to use this series of flooring throughout our entire living area of the home.

One of the best floors I have used. And what a great warranty to back it. This waterproof flooring has a surface that makes it look so real with nice ridges. The color is a perfect dark wood simply elegant. It was really easy to install and has the backing already on it so it makes the job even more easy. I am writing this review of the Pergo Outlast+ Waterproof Black Valley Oak 10 mm T x 6.14 in. W x 47.24 in. L Laminate Flooring Dark for the home depot seeds program in exchange for my honest review and this flooring is simply fantastic looking and easy to install I definitely recommend it if your looking for a darker elegant looking flooring.

The color, look, grooves, everything was exactly what we wanted for our bedroom. We are very happy with it and the only reason I gave it four stars is due to the waterproof aspect of it, it is more difficult to get together unless you have a helper. As you are tilting it up to a 45 degree angle by yourself, if you have more than two pieces you are working with, without a helper it will start to come apart further down the line. And then when you go there to get it in all the way, the same thing will happen to where you just were. Back and forth I went until I got someone to help get the entire row up to 45 degrees. Then we were able 2 get all the pieces to stay in and it went quickly. And needing to get the end piece up to 45 degrees proved difficult because I have heating units on two of the four walls. After a lot of frustration for the first day or two then it started to go much quicker with help. The overall look is fantastic! If I were to to do another room and I have the same heating units along the wall, I may not get the waterproof Outlast feature.

Very easy to install and very durable. Looks amazing!! I have used this flooring in most of my rooms in my house. 5 years ago I installed in my living room and dining room, which gets a lot of foot traffic and abuse, it’s holding up very very well. Does not scratch easily. The newest room is for my daycare room.
