Rusted in 2 weeks
Put this pump in to replace a failed one. Ran fine and was incredibly quiet but after just 2 weeks it had rusted over at the base. Don’t recommend at all. If you do get one would check for rust after first 2 weeks. Seems to be a pattern based on other reviews.

This was PAINFUL (FAILED AFTER 4 MONTHS)
Previously purchased this same model after using Zoeller. It held up 3 years before switch failed. Couldn't find the receipt, had to purchase a new one. Fast forward 4 months later, switched failed again, basement flooded. 3rd basement flood. Float switch is fully up but pump is not running. Push float switch down pump comes on then stops running after a few cycles. Unplug pump, it works a few cylces then stops working again. This one really hurt.

High GPM pump that works well
Our church has one of the Ridgid 1HP pumps installed in an outdoor concrete large tank where a French drain system drains to. A recent heavy rain overwhelmed the capacity of the pump. We just added a 2nd identical pump and increased pipe size to 2". The 1.5" pipe with smaller check valve limits water flow greatly on this pump. It needs a longer extension cord.

There is rust on the bottom of the pump
After only a week, the bottom of the pump has a ton of rust. The screws that are on the bottom as well as the bottom base of the pump are rusty. Seriously?! This is a sump pump designed to be submerged in water! How could this possibly be a thing?! Is there a newer model without rust or did I get an old version?

          Ridgid Workhorse
Unfortunately, the builders did a terrible job with the grading of my yard and coupled with a high water table means a LOT of water in the my sump basin when we have heavy rains. I replaced my old system with this 1/2 hp model and a new battery backup in June of 2020 and this pump has been a workhorse. It’s nothing for this pump to cycle every minute for hours during an extreme rain event and this pump has handled those events with ease. No problem pumping about 12ft up and out in seconds. I would buy another Ridgid pump.

            Failed after three months
I'd been very happy with this pump as it's quiet and quite powerful. Unfortunately, it failed miserably during its first major stress test. We had lots of water flowing into our basement after a recent storm and the float switch stopped working, causing our basement to flood. The float lifts but seems to get stuck just short of where it triggers the pump. I'm able to manually engage it and it will work for a while but it eventually gets stuck again. Also, the power cord is too short.

1 year later- failed = flood
Should have learned the 1st time when pump went bad less than 2 years of purchase. However, needed a pump quick so ran to Depot for Another Rigid ( Shame on me) This 2nd pump lasted a year!! I don’t get how a submersible pump rusts out!? Stopped working & flooded basement! Thank god I planned accordingly when finishing basement and raised floor to prevent damage to finished side. Sump 80% of time is dry, baffled on quality! Unfortunately I would be using Rigid pumps anymore, after tons of research ended up with a Zoeller

                Sump pump for noobs!
Super easy to install. Our builder didnt clean the sump pit out and there was 2 inches of dirt and rocks and building materials which were sucked up in our old pump. Very easy install unscrew the old one cleaned out the pit installed and filled as per instructions and pump removed about 25 gallons of water in less than 5 seconds. Super quite as well.

Easy-Peasy and super quiet for this size pump. I'm pumping the water under 10ft to the outside and this 1/2 HP unit more than handles that. Direct swap for pre-existing Ridgid Pump that started short-cycling unfortunately but was over 5 years old and worked well during that time (there was a bad check valve inline which may have prematurely worn the pump out). The new install took no time. when using rubber couplers between PVC pipes of 1.5 inch and a check valve placed several feet about the pump. I recommend using a 1.5in. NPT to barbed outlet for the pump ~see pic~ (Couldn't find these at the store so went elsewhere for that part)

                Worked for one week
Purchased this pump to replace my working pump that was making noises. Installed on 12/7/21. Wow was it quiet. So quiet I worried. I checked on it for a week. Well 12/17 it wasn’t working while gone and flooded basement. Ran and got another brand.

                  Great pump
Just replaced our builders Rigid 1/3 hp sump pump from 1990 that was still in operation. New Rigid 1/2 hp pump works great, quiet and easy to install. The old pump speaks volumes for the quality of the Rigid brand.

Connected to old system easy, after I bought a part that for the $300.00 I paid for the pump should have come with it... There was no instructions of how to adjust the float level, so it wouldn't leave 6 inches of water in the hole, but it seems to be a strong pump...

                      terrible design
I have the earlier version of this sump pump. There are three 1/8 inch bolts that hold the pump together and to the base. Duh this item is made to pump water and the base is always covered in water since the float cuts the pump off when the base is still submerged. The bolts are not stainless steel and they rusted to the point that when I lifted the pump it fell apart and all the oil leaked out. Only owned the pump for a little more than 3 years, just enough time for the warranty to expire. Not going to bother to try to rebuild it as the parts and aggravation are not worth it. Beware of this poorly designed product.

This pump is so quiet you have to look at the float position to see if it is on. Installation was EZ.

easy install and actually a fun project
This install was a fun little project. Previous pump started getting stuck on and cleaning it out didn't fix the issue. I thought I could reuse the PVC out of the old one, but it was stuck on pretty good, so I bought new PVC and cured it together no problem then just screwed it into the new pump. Dropped it down and made sure it was level, reconnected all the pipes then it was plug and play game on. This thing is twice as big as my previous one but HALF AS LOUD (aka this is quieter), so that's nice. Seems to be good to go now, on autopilot. (Before installing the new pump I cleaned out the pit of as much sediment as possible.)

Super quiet pump! No weep hole needed! ONE FLAW!!
The only complaint is that the power cord is too short! My outlet was in the ceiling and the old pump reached fine. I have a Zoeller pump on the other side of my basement and that power cord is a couple feet longer and reaches the ceiling outlet. I had to relocate the pump outlet and drop it lower with a piece of wood. See image. For that reason, I had to knock off a star!

Initial product review. I will try to remember to update later, if needed. I installed the sump pump on 1.25.20 to replace a Flotec (FP0S2450A) 1/3 HP sump pump. The Flotec lasted 15 years, so I got more than my monies worth out of it. Installation was easy and straight forward with no gotchas. The unit is very robust and feels really solid compared to the Flotec and the handle is very handy to aid installation. To test the pump, I drained the water heater discharge water into the sump basin (over 100 gallons) and if I did not see the pump actually working, I would have thought the pump was defective...this pump is crazy quiet. I did notice there is only 1 power cable vs 2 cables on the old unit. The Flotec set the bar very high, but I hope the Ridgid last at least 10 years.

This sump pump was very easy to install. It runs very, very quietly. I do not hear it running any longer throughout the day like I did with my old one. It looks like it will be much easier to keep clean compared to my old one as well. How long it lasts remains to be seen, but at least there is a 5 year warranty. Highly recommend this product.

Wow, this is a great pump! I've used this for a couple jobs from helping to drain a pool, to pumping water from a basement sump. The quality is very good, and the stainless housing is a very nice touch. The base of the unit where the impeller sits does not appear to be stainless, but I could be wrong. The outer cylindrical housing certainly is stainless and stays looking nice. I imagine from what Ive seen so far that it will last quite a while and keep from being a rusty heap. Weight is very good, and the quality of materials is great. It will lift water a good distance, and pumps pretty fast.

Quality and durability have been key features in products from this brand. I have been using this brand of tools for years with no issues and was very curious to try out this sump pump when I found out RIDGID made them. I was very pleased when I received this cast iron and stainless steel sump pump and removed it from the box. The product comes packaged nicely in a formed cardboard packaging that stabilizes pump in box while protecting it from damage during transporting. ( not that it is easily susceptible to damage ) The box itself showed all the features of this 1 HP RIDGID Pump and it was nice to see that it is assembled in the USA. I replaced a mid level sump pump that I have had for over ten years which was getting noisier and would come on and off continuously on occasion. It is marketed as having ultra quiet performance while running as well as being energy efficient which after plugging this pump in I can attest to how quiet it runs. A nice feature of this pump is the dual suction design. The top suction eliminates the risk of air lock that can occur with single suction sump pumps and the bottom suction passes up to 1/2 inch solids and filters debris to allow maximum water flow. A thick stainless steel guards protects switch and float from damage if pump moves in hole and hits wall of sump basin. This pump is sure to be the last sump pump I will need to purchase for years and years. It is covered by a 5 year warranty if anything goes wrong with it but I expect no issues..

With even more rain than usual this year, this sump pump saved the day. For some reason the house builder routed the rain gutters toward the lowest part of the yard, making a flood situation imminent. Hence the need for a heavy duty pump to remedy the flooded basement from time to time. A plumber was needed to install, he mentioned that the pump was of excellent quality as expected with the rigid name.Seems quiet enough and looks good with the stainless.

This sump pump 1/2 horsepower motor drawing 4.5 amps has plenty of power. It does not seem to draw a lot of power, so it would probably work good on battery backup power, if needed. The pump has no problem lifting sediment filled water over 12 feet of 1.5" pipe with a check valve and several 90 degree elbows. The flowrate is good and should keep up with any storm. There is an initial torque when the pump kick on, but my application has a check valve rubber coupling that isolates the shaking on the pipes. A stainless steel body is combined with a cast iron base so it is very sturdy. The float kicks on at about 6" of water depth and shuts off around 3" of depth. This is an improvement over my old sump that had a pigtail float switch. The 7.25 foot long grounded cord gives you enough cord for even the deepest sump pits. The pump is made in the USA and comes with a 5 year warranty. It is a good way to protect your home.

Say RIDGID and I think plumbing. I live in a neighborhood where when it rains, I need a pump that works. I've installed a few pumps in my lifetime. I've come to count on a well built pump. The stainless steel boy houses the motor which is attached to a cast iron pump base. I don't know what the term dual suction means but I'm sure the engineers do. The hardware is stainless steel as is the case. To me, this means longevity. I easily expect six or more years from this 1/2 HP pump. The unit is oil filled which also helps keep it cool. The protective tongue keeps the pump float from contacting the sump well walls. * Install a new 1-1/2" threaded PVC fitting into a fresh length of PVC pipe into the check valve. I replace the check valve as a matter of safety and less likely to fail from age. The pump seems quiet. All I hear is the rush of water in the PVC pipe.

For the first time ever having to install a sump pump, I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of installation for this product. I was able to install the sump pump in our pre-existing sump well in no more than 20 minutes. With a never-ending list of home projects, this quick install was great. The sump pump seems to be very solidly built with a stainless steel housing and a cast-iron base. I have no doubt that this product will hold up. The sump pump has two easy-to-grab handles in which one handle acts as a float guard to protect the float switch from getting stuck in the on or off position. This is a nice feature to ensure the product runs smoothly. The product also has dual-suction on both the top and bottom of the base which provides debris removal for up to a 1/2 inch piece of solid debris and helps keep the pump from getting air-locked. For the price and high-quality, I would definitely recommend this product!

This is a very heavy duty sump pump! Very solid feel and extremely high quality construction. The product comes packaged nicely in a card board clam shell type packaging. There are installation instructions that are very easy reading for easy installation. I would strongly recommend to anyone that has a sump pump that has a tendency to go off a lot!
