[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let's dial down the epic tone and inject some humor, especially highlighting the evening endeavors that might have ruffled some neighborly feathers:
---
**Title:** My Ryobi Saga: How I Became the Twilight Troubadour of Trimming
In the quaint tableau of our desert town, where the sunsets paint the sky with a laziness that whispers, "Maybe do it tomorrow," my tale unfolds with a Ryobi 2 Cycle 14" Chainsaw, the absolute steal of Home Depot's two-cycle chainsaw lineup. Not because it was the best of the bunch, but because it was the cheapest ticket to the show—a show that I, unintentionally, decided to perform at the most serene time of day: early evening.
As the neighborhood basked in the golden hour, seeking solace in the cool desert dusk, I revved up my budget-friendly beast. The Ryobi, a beacon of affordability, roared to life, shattering the evening calm with the subtlety of a rock concert in a library. The eucalyptus and palm, my intended audience, stood in stoic silence, perhaps in awe, possibly in protest of the unscheduled performance.
With each slice through the branches, my Ryobi sang a song of economic sensibility mixed with questionable timing. The neighbors, initially puzzled by this twilight serenade, soon found themselves wrapped in the narrative of my arboreal ballet. From behind curtains and over fences, they bore witness to the spectacle, their irritation mingled with a begrudging fascination. Was this not the cheapest chainsaw from Home Depot making its mark under the stars? Indeed, it was.
The spectacle was not without its chorus of sighs and the occasional shout of "Some of us are trying to watch TV!" Yet, undeterred, my Ryobi and I danced through the dusk, trimming the deadwood of the day in preparation for the morrow. The hum of my economically savvy companion was a reminder that great deeds don't wait for daylight, and neither do great deals.
By the end of our nocturnal escapade, the trees stood a little prouder, their silhouettes sleek against the night sky. And as I turned off my Ryobi, the cheapest yet mightiest warrior of the evening, the silence returned like a curtain call on our performance. The neighbors, now emerging from their homes, offered a mix of applause and exasperated glares—a testament to the fine line between genius and madness.
So, here in our desert enclave, my Ryobi and I carved out our place in local lore. Not just as the bearer of the most budget-friendly chainsaw, but as the Twilight Troubadour of Trimming, serenading the neighborhood into the night with the sweet symphony of savings... and perhaps a note to start a little earlier next time.

Working Great for Me
I've only had this chainsaw for under a week, but I picked it up to start cutting up a big tree that got blown over at my property during a storm recently. I don't use chainsaws on a regular basis so wasn't looking to get an expensive or commercial-grade one...just something that would work for my needs. This 16" Ryobi was under $200 total for me and worked great right out the box. Ran about two tanks of gas through it during part of a Saturday, and it worked perfectly for what I was doing.

Broke after 2 uses.
Chain got bent after the second time I used it. Went to change the chain, which was more complicated than any other chainsaw I've ever used, and a. Interior piece is bent. Now I cannot put it back together. Waste of money.

Won’t stay running/engine problems right away
Must have started this chainsaw 100 times. Adjusted the carb, changed the gas, oil, made sure the air filter was good. Bought a brand new chain for it even. Still will only run for a minute as cutting the chain just stops while inside the cut. I’ve used chainsaws my entire life. I have never I mean never had this much trouble with a device as this one. Pure garbage! I purchased this a few years back to keep in the garage as a back up never used it once. Then when I need it won’t run!

Terrible Chainsaw
This was my first and absolutely last Ryobi purchased tool for my farm. I would give it a minus score if it was possible. The chainsaw literally broke after two days of use and has been in warranty service for three months now. It’s brand new and still under warranty but what good is that if its not repaired or replaced? Don’t be fooled by the lower cost. You get what you pay for!

Hardest chainsaw I’ve ever tried to start
I’ve had this chainsaw for over a year. I would not recommend it at all. If it decides to start it usually takes about an hour to get it going. Even after it has warmed up it could still take 30 mins to start.

Ryobi Trash
Used only once. Synthetic 50:1 was used. Chainsaw wont start 3 months after use and chain oil leaks more than any other saw I have used. I should have known better than to buy Ryobi and expect to use it more than once.

The Ryobi 16” Chain saw was very easy to start and the one cut I made was made with ease. My experience was painful due to the fact the Bar Locking mechanism lost a pin and wasn’t repairable. I will be returning the Ryobi 16” chainsaw. The. Safety button was difficult and broke on my attempted second cut. I used my Ryobi 18Volt Sawsall reciprocating saw all in one tool to complete my project. I think I will return the Chainsaw and buy an additional battery and blades for the Ryobi 18Volt All in One Reciprocating Saw. It took down the trees without Fuel/Oil and pre-Starting protocols.

Good Saw for DIY Homeowner
Bought on 07/11/2021. I’m a novice; hence this will not be a technical review of its functions. It is lightweight and is easy to maintain. I have changed the bar and chain once because my cuts were going sideways although I have sharpened the chain. I can't find OEM parts in local stores but read that I could use Oregon parts. I was able to cut a log into four sections but will consider getting a longer bar since Ryobi said in the Q&A section I could go up/down two sizes.

Nice Saw
I bought this saw a couple months ago and I've used it about 10 times so far. Always starts up, never stalls. It gets right through the white and red oak that I used the saw for. I guess time will tell how good this saw is over the next few months.

Good saw for price
For the price you can’t go wrong. It is a HOME OWNER Saw!!! Two down sides to this saw is the stupid thing that covers the end of the bar. The bolt that holds it on doesn’t allow use of the full bar length. Very very hard to start once it’s hot

it'll get the job done even with thick logs
I bought this to cut minor limbs and trees in my yard because I have 5 60 year old red oaks that have never been cared for .it's got alot of torque for smaller stuff , 10 inches or less, but enough to cut some up to full bar if you need to (a fresh sharpened chain recommended for that)had ida rip through and it broke some tree that we used to top them and slice for firewood.you take care of it and it will take care of you for sure

Tough little consumer saw
I used this saw to take down a large oak tree. Working slow I managed it in 3 weeks by myself and this saw. I bought an extra chain to avoid extra time sharpening (plus my sharpening skills suck). I still had to try sharpening and made it to where I could cut a complete circle in a 2 ft log. Well, almost.
It can sometimes take a few extra pulls to get started, but after that it's one- or two- pulls to start. It feels like you could run it wide open for days and it wouldn't burn up. Which brings me to the cons: It can get really really hot. I mean 'cook your sausage' hot. I got 3rd degree burns on one finger from a slight brush up against the bottom without a glove. I started wearing gloves after that, all the time, even in the bath. And even with gloves on it could get very hot at the handle. Second, the brake bar is a pain. In high-up, one-handed situations I would bump it against a limb just a little too hard and the chain locks. I would have work to get re-situated so I could reach the lock bar with my left hand to unlock it while holding the saw with my right.
I would definitely NOT use this in a business application, but it's a great buy for someone like me who will use it only occasionally. That tree was the last time I will ever tackle something that large. I wish I had some antlers or something from it to hang on my wall.

Good saw for homeowners
I used this little saw to cut up tree parts that were 22 inches across. Let the saw do the work and don't force it and it works like a champ. I haven't changed anything on it except to remove the kick back safety off the bar so I can plunge cut. I've done tree work for many years so I'm comfortable with this. I bought this to have a little saw around my house without having to lug a big saw from work.

Excellent chainsaw
I used the chainsaw first time this morning. Very large walnut tree that fell on my fence. The saw was easy to start and idle. It cut thru that tree easily. Also it is light enough not to fatigue you. I already just bought a RYOBI circular saw and used to repair a deck. I am a huge fan now. I also got a heavy duty case for the chainsaw cant be beat. Great prices for excellent power tools.

Best chainsaw
About a couple weeks ago I had a tree come down on my property. I bought this chainsaw because of the price and all of the comments that everybody has written about it. This tree literally touched my house and the church and this 18in chainsaw had no problem of cutting through this white oak AKA Sugarberry tree.

way better than the 40v
Dont bother with the electric stuff if you plan on using for more than 20 mins. I got this to replace the electric ryobi 40v which to my suprice the gas one was cheaper more repliable and it cuts great it doesnt really seem to lube the chain enough but i let it cool between logs and put some bar oil directly on before each log
