Daughter used it at her house for the past 4 months, occasionally. Shaft now completely broken. Bump feed all to pieces. Do not buy this if you plan to use it lightly more than twice a month.

      Awesome gas outdoor tool
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this gas trimmer after which my rechargeable one stopped working after abt 4yrs. This lightweight unit is easy to carry (12lbs) around while I’m trimming my lot that’s on a corner, so I have plenty of time with its gas capacity.

          Poor QC of trimmer head
The trimmer head is defective and stuck in place. This design requires you Twist the arrows to align for locking and unlocking to acces the string. Poor design unlike I've seen on other weed eaters I've owned in the past

                Can’t start it
Used this trimmer for 10 minutes. Shut it off to move some wood and I haven’t been able to restart it. I have tried multiple days. I am starting a business and need a reliable trimmer. Not sure if I will replace it with another Ryobi or another brand. I do like the attachment feature.

Had hitachi for 15 years, this didnt last last 2x! Doesn't bump. Line keeps breaking and must re-do entire thing just for the string to work. HATE IT! Going BACK today!

good overall but bump head not durable
Pro: Starts easily, works fine with edger attachment. Con: Bump head isn't durable and wore out quickly. Needs to be replaced in less than 6 months. Never was easy to use the tool to feed new line in - easier to take it apart and turn from the bottom. I e-mailed about this and received no reply.

Reel Easy trimmer head is junk
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a tough review because the trimmer itself is a great reliable trimmer, this is my second one. However, the new reel easy trimmer head is absolute junk. During first use out of the box, the reel easy trimmer head basically exploded. Plastic head cracked and entire thing went flying into the tall grass. Only bumped it 3 times to advance the line and then gone. Wasn't even bumped on pavement, just grass. All that remained was the base attached to the trimmer shaft. If you buy this trimmer, I recommend buying a replacement head along with it or you'll be making another trip to the store very soon. Never even got a chance to use the cool feature of easy line loading.

                            Bad product
This product has some obvious design flaw. I had the same experience as other negative posts. The trimmer started to wobble and the grass deflector and trimmer head fell off. Some type of plastic bushing melted. I contacted Ryobi and got no response.

Happy with this, very similar to an old Sears that ran forever
To start, I had a setback with the bump head, *See Q & A WasWhackingIt May 26 2020, but have since figured it out. This bump head is different than the ones described in the answers, there are not 2 tabs. I had to hold the shaft and unscrew the head then I had to push in the green bump enough to release tension on the spool so it would unlock. But now I know and it is working good. I like this machine so far, I just sold a Stihl FS40 that ran excellently but I could not stand the bump feed on it and had two different heads but both were not very efficient but were real frustrating and a waste of time. I just want to wack the weeds. This machine is very similar to a Sears weed eater that was my favorite and it lasted for many years, original spark plug, filter and it just went and went. This whacker seems pretty steady, it will be fine for what I use it for.

                                Avoid this product!!!
I received this as a gift for Father’s Day. Unfortunately, while using it one day, the housing started to wobble and flew off. Upon further inspection, I saw that the plastic had melted. At the time of this writing, the last reviewer posted they had the same problem. Figuring this is a warranty issue, I contacted Ryobi and they directed me to the nearest service location (25 minutes away). To keep this short, I’ve basically spent a little over 3 1/2 hours on the phone over the course of 4 phone calls in two days for a piece of equipment with an obvious warranty issue for a trimmer that has been used 6 times. All to be told that I have to buy the lower attachment. The trimmer is low quality and the entire customer service experience has been awful as well. I want to like Ryobi and their products because for the price and amount of times I would use their tools, they seem like a good deal, but obviously not. I completely understand if people still buy their products but after this experience, I would not recommend it. The picture I am attaching shows how the plastic melted resulting in the entire housing simply falling off.

                                  Don't waste your money
I bought the Ryobi 25cc 2 cycle curved shaft trimmer on May 4th. My wife used it to trim around our house on May 5th (about a 30-40 min job... .26 acre lot). Roughly half way into trimming, the grass deflector completely melted off the shaft. At that point, the head started to wobble and almost come loose while using, and it was running very rough (borderline smoking). I'm running TruFuel 50:1 and this is literally the first time using it. I have other Ryobi tools and love them...but this trimmer is garbage. Don't waste your time, money, or effort on this... I returned to Home Depot and upgraded to an Echo straight shaft.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this a couple days ago. I already own a brushless 18v but it over heats and takes alot of time to cut after 10min of use so I bought this gas powered one and I couldn't be happier. Works like a charm and does exactly what I need it to do.

Thanks to the person that posted in their review how to actually get this thing to crank, I'm happy with it so far albeit that's only been for one use of about an hour. Their advice was to ignore the included instructions saying to set to full choke, push the primer bulb 10 times, pull to start 4 times, lather rinse repeat. I tried that several times over several days and not so much as a cough of trying to crank. Then I read their review and did what they suggested: don't push the primer bulb so many times, set it to run instead of choke, and pull the string until it cranks. They said up to forty pulls, on #22 mine roared to life. I bought this to replace a 20+ year old Ryobi 4-cycle trimmer that finally bit the dust, because we already have several attachments that will work with it. I like that this is lighter than the old 4-cycle, and that it continues to idle when you release the trigger unlike the old one. I'm iffy on the bump to advance string feature but I think over time I'll get past the learning curve. I also like that it has plenty of power and I think when I switch to the brush trimmer attachment I'll be able to easily take down the nasty invasive Callery/Bradford Pear hybrid trees that are constantly trying to overrun our pastures.

                                          Affordable performance
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did a LOT of research before I made the jump from an electric to a gas-powered trimmer and wanted to make sure my money wasn't' wasted on something that would only last one season. I watched several YouTube videos of everyday users who had bought the Ryobi trimmer and liked what I saw very much. When I got it all out of the box, it set up just like the YouTube videos showed and was even accurate to the number of pulls it took to start it for the first time. I take care of the alleyway behind my home and need a good string trimmer without the limitations of a battery or a power cord, and I love the interchangeability between trimmer, cutter, blower and all the other tools that are available. After one day with my new trimmer with the blower attachment, I am impressed! I also appreciate the mix oil and spare coil of string included in the package-that was a nice touch a LOT of manufacturers overlook these days.

I was pleased to find how easy this trimmer was to assemble and start for the first time. The kit came with a bottle of fuel oil mix and a spare string, so we were covered there. I personally found it a little on the heavy side and I'm looking for a strap to give the arms a break, especially with the blower attachment on the end of it. I was pleased with the cutting ability and the string that was already installed because it was braided and very tough. It was pretty cool the way the cutting head and the blower cuts off when the engine is at idle. I like that very much. The photo attached is of the alleyway behind my house that I try to keep clean and it can get pretty full of pine needles, pine cones and leaves. As you can see, it does a pretty nice job.

I love this thing, I especially love the way it loads new string, Just feed it in about 15 feet of string and center it in the head and crank the supplied cranking tool. No need to take the head apart. I also love that when you let off the throttle, the head stops so you can clear any tangled grass from the head while it is running.
