It looks good and is the right size. It matches the color of 59 year old flooring. I have not yet installed the flooring, I am in progress of fixing a flooding problem. Will install this flooring when the flooding problem is fixed.

The quality of this flooring from Shaw is wonderful. Plan to cull out 10-15% of the wood as there are pieces with knots and inconsistent colorings / wood. Also, open three or four boxes and sort the wood by size. Some boxes have a lot of small pieces while others will have a lot of longer boards.

Really nice hard wood flooring, looks as good as some of the more expensive flooring... Had for a couple months now and still looks brand new. We have a small house dog and a kid and there haven't been any noticeable scratches thus far. Never laid hardwood flooring before, but this was easy enough to lay after watching YouTube how- to videos. Used a porter cable nail gun with 18gauge 2 inch nails. Very happy with this purchase, will be buying more to redo our living room. Great price & quality!

Very satisfied with the product. Like stated in other reviews many small pieces that shouldn't be used unless needed. About 3 percent of the planks had termite holes and were filled with wood filler so I avoided using those as well. I ordered about 15% more than needed and I was left with approximately 1 1/2 boxes of small pieces ranging from 10 inches to 24 inches that I will be using for a small half bath. Over all I would purchase this product again.

Ordered 40 boxes (1,000 SF) to basically redo the flooring in my entire house. Took a few weeks to arrive to the store, and a week to adjust in the house for humidity and temperature. I just started installing over the last few days, and it looks great. I have complete one bedroom. The wood is good quality, and has a nice color and warm tone. Like other reviews have pointed out, not every piece is 100% correct, so order a bit extra to account for bad milling, chips, missing tongue or groove, and warpage, but overall everything going together perfectly. I am really glad I ordered this material.

When pulling carpet on my 2nd floor we found there were no oaks and they were everywhere else in the house. Found this product and couldn't be happier, I have no construction experience, we just bought the house a few months ago and me and my brother laid this floor out in 2 weekends which included 3 rooms and a small hallway. If i had to guess we had about 5% waste and that was mostly because of beginner mistakes. There were only a few boards that were not usable out of all the boxes . I returned 3 extra boxes because I thought there was going to be overages. It looks amazing and the durability is awesome. I used the husky nailer, ryobi mitter, table and jig saw. I also used dewalt 1 15/16 flooring cleats. There is no matching nosing so If you are looking for a good match get the summer oak stain with a semi gloss poly. Stain once and poly 3 times, sanding between each time. Really happy! Now I need to put up some base molding!!

Great product at a great price. Since its installation a few months ago, countless things have dropped on our floor, with no damage. Apparently the baking makes it stronger than unfinished oak flooring that is finished after installation.

Best flooring at the best price
When we saw the price on this hardwood (oak) flooring we decided to do this instead of the laminate. The quality is wonderful and it was very easy for our contractor to install. He was very impressed with the quality, also. It matches our old oak floor that it abuts up to almost perfectly. Very happy with this purchase.

    Worked very well for us
We added this flooring as part of a renovation, and joined it to existing 40 plus year old flooring. It was a close match in color and finish and the joints were easily made to the other flooring.

    Beautiful
They are gorgeous hardwood floors. I had a few damaged from handling - the box was busted most like from a forklift, but I had ordered knowing that with cuts and mistakes there would be some loss, so it wasn't an issue. They are simple to install, HIGHLY suggest a nail gun made for installing hardwood floors. Labor intensive of course - working alone using a professional style nail gun it took me approximately 3 hours in install one box. Remember you have to trim, and we had to rip a few boards in order to tie into a pre-existing hardwood floor and then to work around cabinets. LOVE the end product.

    Looks Great!
The quality of the the material is excellent, especially for the price. I installed in a spare bedroom, but wouldn't hesitate to install throughout the house. There was very little waste, but I did use some pieces that had some surface defects (not dents or scratches) that I feel add character and a rustic look. Love it!

Excellent cabin, shop flooring with next to no waste!
Bought this based exclusively on price, at just over 3 dollars a foot with a substantial finish warranty, it was just the ticket for my little cabin in the mountains. Far exceeded my quality expectations for THAT price! While we could have spent a lot more time sorting and using longer pieces, the mixed short lengths matched and looked good and of course you use those more on the end walls anyway. Just be careful when nailing close to their ends to avoid splitting. Very very little waste, things went so well with this job I am going to use the same material to completely replace the 100 year old oak flooring in an outbuilding I am remodeling...thank goodness I was able to find it at a Home Depot local to me!

Beautiful hardwood floor for great price
We were excited we could get this for the price of engineered flooring. I'd seen the manufacturer's image online and thought the wood was darker than I wanted, but luckily in person it's lighter. I'd describe as a light-to-medium warm brown. My only regret is that it isn't wide plank, not only aesthetically but also because it would have made installation quicker. Be sure to mix up which box you're drawing your planks from so you get a nice mix. There is some variation from box to box. About 10% of the planks had some type of dark spot/knot/imperfection, but I liked the personality these added.

Good Looking, Lots of Work--Well Worth It!
Installing this floor took the typical amount of work one might expect for solid hardwood flooring: Your only choice is to nail it. No gluing. We rented a floor nailer, although I know you can purchase these at Home Depot (worth it if you are reflooring your entire house; we were only doing about 9 hours of work). A nail needs to go in about every 6 inches, so for 150sqft room we used about 400 nails. We used the Standard 100 sq. ft. Rolls 25 ft. x 4 ft. x .080 in. Polyethylene Foam 2-in-1 Underlayment available at Home Depot. You don't need underlayment for this type of flooring, but I find it really helps with noise reduction and insulation. The price is right--rather, the price is more than fair. I have seen the same exact thing at other stores for at least a dollar more per square foot. For solid hardwood flooring, this price is absolutely irresistible. The wood is of good quality, too: We purchased six boxes, and out of the boxes there were in total about half a dozen boards that had quality-compromising wormholes and knots (these can be cut for edges though) and we only found one small board that was completely unusable. If you have purchased natural flooring before, you should be aware that having compromised boards is always the case. For the price, these boards were no more common than would have been in more expensive woods. The boxes: They weigh 75lbs each. They are 7 feet long. This is to accommodate the random length boards. The shortest boards I found were about 6 inches (these are abundant) and the longest boards I found were about 6.5 feet (these were few and far between). Removing boards from the box, I was able to fit all of them in a 5 foot covered truck bed. No two boards are exactly the same length. Pull from multiple boxes when laying the floor, as there is a variety of colors and patterns. The random length makes it easy to avoid cutting edges; we were able produce several rows using combinations of existing boards. Towards the end, we needed to cut more. Things you will need: --48 hours for the boards to acclimate. Remove them from boxes and have them sit in the intended installation environment. --Floor nailer --Floor nails (these are usually 1000 per pack, which will do about 350 sqft) --Drill and 7/64th drill bit, for the edges where the floor nailer won't fit. --8D nails, for where floor nailer won't fit (1 pound does about 108 feet of board). Pre drill holes for these nails (there are instructions for how to do this in the package) --Mallet and block of scrap wood to tap the boards into place prior to nailing --Wall spacers; we used blocks of scrap wood. The floor is recommended to leave 1 inch space from the wall; we left 3/4 inch. --Saw (we used a table saw): hand saw, miter saw, radial arm saw, table saw, circular saw. Anything that can cut straight. The wood is hard so I recommend a power saw, although it can be done with a hand saw. If you need to cut around vent registries or corners, a scroll saw, jigsaw, or band saw would work. We actually used a Dremel attachment for these. Plan on getting: Mouldings and threshhold(s). Mouldings will need to be thicker towards the bottom to accommodate the additional spacing from wall required for this floor. Recommend two people for this project: One person to nail, one person to cut and lay boards. It goes much faster this way.

Thank you for your feedback on the Shaw flooring you had installed. We are sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with it. The floor does have a 50% gloss level, which is higher than many of our floors. We will try to make sure that this is more prominently noted on the website. The box should have contained 25 sq ft. It is possible there were several small pieces, as the board lengths are random, and would be made up of planks that are between 9" to 84", but it should have added up to a total of 25 sq ft. If your boxes did not contain a total of 25 sq ft, please contact the Home Depot store where the flooring was purchased and have them file a claim on your behalf to have this investigated further. We hope you will be happy with the flooring in your home. shaw
