This product is rock salt this is false advertising and I found that this product left the worst white film I have ever seen

The product is poorly packaged and would be unlikely to be delivered. Never made it to me. It took three calls to customer service to get a refund.

Don't buy this product, it'll eat through your cement/concrete. See attached images..

Do not buy this, it’ll ruin your driveway/concrete.. see attached images. My driveway is completely ruined with patches everywhere.

Snow Joe melts ice even to a temperature of -10 degrees. I tried it, and it did melt ice completely at 15 degrees. It was easy to apply with a one-quart plastic container, spreading it upon the ice on my flagstone walk. It took several hours to completely melt the ½ inch-thick ice, and it left a white residue of sodium chloride — salt. The SnowJoe package says “Environmentally friendly,” and it notes that the contents will not harm wood, concrete, metal, or grass or other vegetation, and is safter than other melting agents for children, pets and the environment. Snow Joe contains sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, and calcium magnesium acetate. Snow Joe is an easy-to-use, effective, and green de-icer.

I usually keep my ice melter in a tote near the garage door and this box fits nicely inside the tote. The pellets are in a pretty heavy plastic bag so there is no leaking. I have only used it one time, but as you can see in the photos it started to work as soon as I put it down. I have a plastic scooper inside the bag and I haven’t noticed any chucks. Once all the snow melted i didn’t notice any stains on the concrete pad which is nice.

I opened by delivery to see that half of the container is empty.

I use ice melt sparingly on certain areas of my driveway and sidewalk. I generally don’t like the expense or the use of chemicals where it can run off and cause environmental problems in my yard and garden areas. If I remove the snow in a timely manner, I usually don’t have an ice problem. However there are times when ice melt must be used to avoid slipping and injury, so I choose a product that works and is as environmentally friendly as possible, and one that does as little damage as possible to the concrete. My research found that calcium magnesium acetate (CMA) is safer for animals, causes no harm to concrete, doesn’t cause corrosion to metal or vehicles any more than normal water, and won’t harm plants. Thats is why I thought that I would try this product from Snow Joe. The product has a couple drawbacks, and one is the price. Substantially higher cost than salt or the other options, but since I don’t use that much, it is worth it. The second is that this product is “enhanced with calcium magnesium acetate”, but according to the package still contains sodium chloride (salt) and magnesium chloride. I am disappointed that they give some sort idea of the percentages. Is it this mostly the same old salt with a tiny amount of CMA, or is it mostly CMA? All of the available ice melt products that I researched contained two or more melting ingredients if they contained calcium magnesium acetate, so this is not unusual. I use the product sparingly, but I will still be watching carefully for any side effects and will revise my review if any are found.

Winter is coming! Need to stock up on supplies. SnowJoe has been a trusted brand. I own two snow blowers with them, and each have performed exceptionally. With that said, I can not imagine the ice melter to be any less than exceptional. 30lb box seems like it will definitely last through a season where I'm from. The melters look course enough to deal with any type of situation.

Since winter is rapidly approaching getting the proper ice melt is a must. I have been looking for a ice melt that is safe for animals since I have lots of deer and fox in my area not to mention the neighbors who have pets and walk on the sidewalk in front of my house; I also have a concrete driveway so this Joe Melt has a anti-corrosion formula that should be less destructive then typical salt. I look forward to see how effective it is with the first snow of the year.

Snow Joe Ice Melter. Some 30 pounds of small crystal looking ice melter. Come in a plastic bag. Labeling says it's environmentally safe and won't cause rusting of your concrete or cars. I got this package to be ready for the first snowfall but haven't had a chance to use it yet. The first light snow didn't stick to the driveway. I didn't see any type of scoop included so I'm using a recycled can. I'll use it on our porch steps and around the entrance to the garage down the driveway after plowing.

This is a big box of ice melt (Spanish and English labels on box). The granules are like small pebbles that melt ice away quick. It leaves behind a little sand-like material for traction too. It is best to use this on ice, or snow under an inch. Any more snow then that and it will just melt the top part of the snow, which will turn into ice underneath at ground level. This brand is also environmentally-friendly, so safe around grass, plants, and pets.

As winter is approaching I had to get some snow melt for the driveway and sidewalk. I decided to try a new brand - Snow Joe Melt. I have a few of the SnowJoe and SunJoe products and have been very happy with all of them, so when I saw their IceMelt I got it. I liked that it was an environmentally friendly, blend ice melter (MeltEB). When used as directed it says it’s not harmful to the grass, and other vegetation. It also says it’s safer for pets, although I wouldn’t even think of testing that out. It is enhanced with CMA ( a calcium magnesium acetate) an environmentally benign dicing agent. It claims to go to work immediately after application. It also indicates that it is time-released and lasts longer. It also says that it doesn’t dry out or irritate your skin which is nice. Although it hasn’t snowed yet for me to use this I am confident that this will work as well as their other products.

After snowmageddon in the Dallas area, this year I’ll be prepared with this product. I like that this is environmentally friendly, safe to use around animals and not harmful to grass, shrubs, trees or concrete. It comes in a resealable bag. Nice to have a product that delivers fast and effective results without damage … even to auto exteriors. This is useful after shoveling snow and spreading to dry out any moisture to endure it doesn’t turn into ice.

Ice on walking surfaces is an obvious hazard and mechanical removal can be time consuming and labor intensive. I have bought calcium chloride based meters and have not been satisfied. Worst, although it promised not to, it pitted my year old concrete. This product also promises to not damage concrete. I'm optimistic since I own several Snow Joe (and Sun Joe) products and I'm happy with all of them. Another problem is storage. A few months after my last limited (to stone and asphalt) use, some of the product liquified, but the stuff in the bag solidified into a 40 lb solid block of salt. Now I have to haul it off to waste disposal! The Snow Joe product anticipated this and included anti-caking agents.

Used it on newly stained deck so far no ill effects.

YES, THE SNOW JOE MET MY EXPECTATIONS!The first snowfall of the season also had sleet & ice! IN THE EARLY EVENING I'm an Elder & I wasn't going to shovel my snow (my neighbor did) The next day I used Snow Joe ice melt on my side & it was awesome HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Its been a long winter here in NY. I was glad when I got this ice melt. It works well and is friendly to the environment and also for pets. I used it like I did other ice melt products and it did the job for me. It didn't do any damage to my concrete like other products have in the past. The resealable bag is a real plus. Very happy with this product!

The container of ice melt came opened and the salts were all over the container. I would estimate we lost about 3/4 of the salt due to the opened package. Home depot said they would assist in getting a new package, but it has yet to happen.

Don’t buy. Item never received and called the customer service and got declined on handling and refund.

Great snow melt, and easy on little paws

I like the product but thought would dissolve after few days of no moisture but its still around weeks later
