This review is for the Stark USA Item No. 50015, 48-inch farm jack. This jack is made in China and has no brand name markings, apparently being a generic product. The maximum lifting capacity is listed at 3 metric tons or 6600 pounds. The tool itself is of steel construction, mostly with a painted finish with some key operating parts plated. The steel standard (lift bar) appears to be of cast steel with latch holes punched on about 7/8-inch centers. This jack is heavy, weighing about 27.5 pounds. It arrived fully assembled. The instructions are clear enough, however a bit crudely worded with spelling, grammatical errors and different words used to describe several of the same parts. I tried using this jack to lift the engine end of my zero turn radius lawn mower to change the rear tires, a lift weight that I estimate to be about 500 pounds. My intention was to set the mower rear on jack stands about a foot above the floor. I carefully followed the instructions in the process. Raising the mower went well, but the lowering operation failed. The reversing latch stuck in the "UP" position, requiring prying with a large screw driver to place it in the "DOWN" position. Jacking the handle after shifting the reversing latch failed to lower the load, it resulting in the load being lifted higher. I ended up borrowing another jack to lift the mower even higher so that I could remove this jack and set it aside. The product instructions to lower indicate that this product is not inherently safe to use, indicating that a load of less than 110 pounds cannot be lowered step by step. It indicates that an attempt to lower a lighter load step by step will cause "the lifting nose to drop", apparently dropping the load in one step. There is no warning on the tool about this issue. There is no indication of a warranty in the instructions. I will not use this product as I consider it unsafe. Do not buy this product.

I got one of these from The Home Depot with the Stark brand on the box only. It was made and apparently designed in China. There is no brand label anywhere on the product itself or in the crudely worded instructions. The first time I tried it, I lifted about 500 pounds. When I shifted the reversing latch to lower the load on jack stands, it would not go down when I pumped the jack handle. I borrowed another jack to jack the load high enough to remove this jack and set it aside. The jack I got looks different than the one pictured on The Home Depot website. The one I got has cast metal, not stamped steel construction for the reversing latch and accompanying part. This jack arrived with the cap screw that holds the reversing latch nearly fallen out, apparently working loose while being transported. I tightened it before trying the jack. I noticed that the cap screw was again working loose while jacking the trial load. There is no locking device or other arrangement to keep that cap screw from working loose. I will not use this jack again, planning to buy a branded jack that is made in the USA, has a warranty and is clearly marked with the brand name.
