Easy to apply and dried pretty quick. It is also clear and Matt finish - can’t tell it’s been sealed. You do need to follow instructions and focus on joints to get the sealer down deep into joint sand.

Oftentimes any premature erosion is due to; inadequate application amount of JSS/ sf. or incompatible joining material. Sometimes it can be temperature-related, especially in the hotter months; since JSS is water-based it cannot be applied (in most areas of the Country) after 11am, for fear of evaporation before it can fully absorb. Double check your coverage rates. Our coverages are based on the joint width. A flush paver (1/8" or less) will yield 90-100 sf./ gallon. If your joints are wider than 3/4" we recommend using a 1/4" minus decomposed granite, because sand can easily abrade away and is susceptible to erosion in wider joints. For reference, a 2" joint will yield around 40 sf./ gallon. So, if the joints are narrower than 1" you can use an all-purpose jointing or playground sand- concrete, washed and kiln-dried sands don't work well. If the joint is wider, it is imperative to use a 1/4" minus decomposed granite (or equivalent) or you will experience premature erosion. If you feel you installed with a suitable jointing material and applied the proper amount of NanoPave JSS (based on joint width), well, sometimes 'stuff happens' and perhaps an area didn't receive enough when it was initially applied. The great thing about a product like JSS is that it is easy to maintain or make simple repairs. Simply apply some fresh jointing material, spray with JSS and allow to cure for a couple hours. It's as easy as that. I always recommend that any first-time users call our Technical Support Department to assure your project goes forward without challenges. We're here to help assure your project's success. TechniSoil

Not sure what went wrong with your project? There are usually just a few things that could occur to not attain 'stabilized' joints. 1) Not enough NanoPave JSS was applied 2) Incompatible joining material 3) Temperature range is important. Air and surface temperature needs to be below 90 degrees or any water-based product will sizzle off/evaporate before it can absorb into the pavement and jointing material . Since we are unfamiliar with any of your exact product concerns, give our Tech Support Department a call and we'll be able to help establish why your experienced poor results, and hopefully offer a simple solution. We bought this to stabilize joints filled with granite sand. A week after applying it, you can’t tell we used anything. The sand still washes out every time it rains.

Sorry to hear of your challenge. If you are having issues with stabilization it usually is related to an incompatible joining material or insufficient JSS being applied. For paving joints 1" or less a all-purpose or playground sand work best (avoid kiln-dreied/washed/concrete sand). For larger joints, usually natural stone/flagstone, a 1/4" or 3/8" minus decomposed granite is recommended. 1-gallon of JSS will cover between 20-100 sf., depending on joint width; i.e. a straight-edge concrete paver/brick with a 1/8" gap will only require 1-gallon per 100 sf. Whereas as 3" flagstone joint would require 30 sf./ gallon. If not enough product is applied (or applied in hot temps, where it will evaporate before absorbing) the results will be negligible. Granite sands aren't always ideal, especially for joints wider than 1" (like sand, it is often too fine). But, not knowing the size of your project, the width of your paving joints and other variables it's difficult for us to assess a solution. Please give our Technical Support Department a call and so we can better understand why your results weren't optimal, pinpoint the reason, and offer a practical solution. TechniSoil

J123, Sorry to hear of your challenge. The main reasons a problem like this might occur; incompatible sand (our product works with All-Purpose and playground sand, not concrete/washed), joints wider than 3/4" will not work with sand but requires a 1/4" minus crushed stone or application methodology. Applying too much liquid can actually cause more harm than good. For a standard 'sand' joint you should garner 75-100 sf./ gallon (so 20-36 oz. of product should be more than sufficient). I'd recommend you give our Technical Support Department a call so we can figure out exactly what happened and be able to assist you better. TechniSoil

Maria, Sorry for any misunderstanding regarding NanoPave JSS. The product serves two-purposes; it's designed to seal the surface of the paving material (stone/brick/concrete paver/etc), as well as stabilizing/hardening the joining material. Although NanoPave JSS will greatly reduce the chance fo weeds to develop, it is not a 'weed-control' product. There are a few things to consider if there is excessive weed growth; Make sure you have applied the correct ratio of NanoPave JSS (up to 100 sf./ gallon, but wider joints usually cover 40-60 sf.) and you're using a suitable joining material (all-purpose/jointing sand for joints up to 3/4", use a crushed stome mix such as a 1/4" minus decomposed granite in all other width joints)- concrete sand, chip rock and pea gravel will not work. In instances where weed growth is a concern you should use a pre-emergent weed control product before adding any jointing material and the JSS product. If weeds occur after installation remove by hand (you can also apply a post-emergent weed control product for added protection), replace any displaced joining material and simply apply more of the JSS to re-harden. In most instances these weed issues are related to the above mentioned variables, but there are certain conditions where Mother-Nature has the upper hand- but be assured, using NanoPave JSS will help reduce the chance of weeds developing, and is easy to make any needed repairs. Always feel free to contact our Technical Support Department if you need additional product advice, we are here to assist. TechniSoil

I thought I was taking a chance on this product and was gong to be disappointed, but to my surprise, it worked in stabilizing and hardening the regular sand joints to the point that they look and feel almost like cement. Also did a great job of sealing the surface of the cement/stone pavers I have put down. The only minor issue was that it didn't bring out the color of the pavers as much a I had hoped, though this is not a big deal. The bottom line is that it did what was advertised and the most important thing that I wanted it to do.... stabilize and harden my regular sand joints. I applied the product 3 weeks ago ( 7/2/19) and so far, after numerous downpours, still hard as a rock. Will see how it holds up in the winter. Just one other thing, I mentioned that I was planning on using this product to a professional patio/walk installer and he said that I was wasting my money and the product would do nothing to firm up the joints. Glad I don't always listen to so called professionals!

Thanks for the detailed review, it should be helpful to other product users in the future. With a 'little TLC' each Spring a JSS treated material should last indefinitely. Keep us posted. TechniSoil

The NanoPave sealer was easy to put down with a pump sprayer. I used a squeegee on a pole to make sure that there were no puddles per the instructions of the manufacturer. The product hardened the fresh playground sand that I had put down in the paver joints. The key is clean, dry pavers at start.

It does work very well on holding the sand in the joints. I would have given 5 stars except for the price. Too expensive for me to do my large patio. I might buy more but just spray the joints themselves.

The sealer was easy to apply. It sealed my pavers and sand with a little wash-out of the sand during a heavy Texas rain. The plain sand was as firm after application of Joint Stabilizer as Polymeric sand in a previous application.

I gave this sealer a 4 star rating because I live in Florida. If I used it further north, I would of given it a 5 star rating. With the amount of heat and rain we have, I would of rather had something that repelled water better, which would of been a molecture sealer. Overall, I am pleased with the product. The pavers did not change color as indicated by the manufacture. The sand joints appear to be stable and not blowing away in the wind or rain as stated by the manufacture. There is a slight repellent to the rain which I like. Easy to put down with a hand pump sprayer. Time will tell if the mold comes back and if it does, how easy it is to clean off with out pressure washing. I don't know why Home Depot doesn't carry better quality products like this in the stores. I feel consumers would rather spend more money on a superior product than spend less on a product that will not perform as well. I had to order this product and re-order another gallon because I didn't get enough the first time. I will try to come back next year and give another review.
