Bought this countertop to make a dinning table. As a person mentioned in his review it is only planed on one side. Main issue for me is that the quality of the wood used is not the best (at least 4 spots from sick trees or not correctly dried planks, see photo of the main one), that the filling of holes is not done perfectly & need to be reworked (see photo). I may have been unlucky... for sure I am not looking forward to the fun of returning the item to the store (quite heavy) & the wait to get it replaced...

I love our countertop. But when we opened it had a crack in it. Luckily my husband was able to fix it.

I used this as an office desk and I absolutely love it. I put one thin coat of poly on and the wood grains popped. I would definitely recommend.

We used these countertops for our new kitchen coupled with light French grey cabinets. The quality is great for the price and we were impressed with the shipping. We even put in an undermount sink. Good for diyers like ourselves. The only treatment we used for the countertops was food grade safe original milkpaint company dark tung oil mixed with solvent (product called dark half). This stuff worked wonders for our countertops and is nicely protecting the wood.

The product was beautiful and after I installed the counter tops for my wet bar and butcher block oil, it was amazing!

Beautiful product! It will need some sanding/finishing, but that was expected. I used it as a bench top in my back entry and its gorgeous!

I LOVE OUR BUTCHER BLOCK BAR COUNTER!! I wish I found this before we ordered our granite counters.. it looks awesome in our kitchen. My tip is when you cut it/if you need to cut, get a second person to help bc it is heavy!! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.

There weren't many reviews to solely base a purchase on for this butcher block, so I took a chance because it would complete my kitchen counter top cabinet project. I have say that it was worth the purchase as the block was well put together and perfectly flat when laying on the floor in the box.

This review is for the maple / walnut. I was the builder installer and finisher for this product. Delivery was a little weird, I had to be there instead of them just dropping it off but no big deal. The slab came perfectly straight square flat and consistent. Beautiful finger joints are visible on the side grain. Was blue to be Cut and shaped beautifully. Easy to sand and took 7 coats of poly very nicely. I used this for an over hanging bar top. I used every last little cutt off I could because I was so impressed with the look, feel, and versatility of this product. I will be purchasing more and trying out the other species.

We ordered this for a new island. It helps to know how to work with hardwoods and what to expect in variations with the wood grain. We cut to size, used a router to ease the edges and then sanding. Get a good bees wax mineral oil sealer and put on 4 to 5 coats. Looks absolutely gorgeous and if an issue shows up you can easily fill, sand and re-treat.

Received this as a gift from child. This counter top has not been planed on either side. The boards are simply glued together and the edges cut nicely. The boards stick up all through the surface and will require hours of sanding to get a level surface or a 25" wide planer. Even with a power belt sander this will not be an easy or fast process. Unless you have access to a 25" planer and are good at keeping a level surface with a sander taking down an rough uneven surface, you are not going to be happy. Inspect your counter top at the store and take your time looking at the surface with a flash light. Take a 6 ft level and make sure it is straight and flat. If it is not ready for light sanding or has any imperfections reject it. This step is critical to a good final product.
