Let's see what we can figure out, Thomas. Varathane Oil Based Spar Urethane is designed for application to outdoor wood surfaces, such as railings, fences, patio furniture, house and trim, it is for outdoor use only. Spar Urethane requires exposure to UV rays to cure properly. If you have applied Spar Urethane to an outdoor item, such as wood furniture, in an enclosed garage, moving it outdoors will allow it to completely dry. If Spar Urethane is used indoors, it will require much longer time to properly dry.

Great Urethane Finish
Easy application and high gloss finish. I applied 2 coats but probably could have gotten away with one. Product dried to a very clear high gloss finish that allowed the beauty of the wood grain to shine through and be the star.

This product dries with a beautiful glass. It does take awhile to dry. It took 48 hours to dry to be able to sand for a second coat. It was still slightly sticky after 24 hours. No fumes, or very very little. When cured for 62 hours, it has a nice hard shell covering the material

Clear gloss has a slight amber tint, so it darkens...
Clear gloss has a slight amber tint, so it darkens the surface a bit. Not truly a 'clear' coating. The gloss is good but does show streaking when dried. I am reluctant to put a second coat on since it might make the surface darker and magnify current imperfections instead of filling them in. It is unknown at this time how durable the coating will be. I would not use this again if I needed a truly clear coat.

Let's see what we can figure out. Varathane Oil Based Spar Urethane dries to a golden amber finish, if a crystal clear finish is designed, we recommend using Varathane Water Based Spar Urethane. Oil Based Spar Urethane requires a minimum of 2 coats, Water Based Spar Urethane requires a minimum of 4 coats. Varathane Spar Urethane is for outdoor use only.

Looks great on my exterior cabinet. I did two coats for that deep glossly finish. Remember to stir (not shake) prior to application. Shaking will lead to more air bubbles when brushing it on and you will have to make more passes so avoid that headache.
