Customer Reviews for Zinsser 1-gal. DIF Gel Wallpaper Stripper

We had tried everything else to remove 40-year-old (!!) wallpaper in our fixer upper, but DIF gel wallpaper stripper was the only product that worked without destroying the unprimed wallboard beneath the wallpaper. Caveat 1: We did not wait the recommended 20-30 minutes to start removal because our very old wallpaper had to be wet in order to be removed, but other than that, we followed the instructions to the letter. Caveat 2: We did not wear gloves during the application, and the gel did dry out our skin just a bit, but it was easier for us to remove the wallpaper without wearing gloves. Caveat 3: If you are removing wallpaper that cannot be stripped of its top layer, be sure to *thoroughly* scar the paper with a paper tiger tool so that the DIF gel can penetrate both layers of the paper. Otherwise, you likely will rip the wallboard underneath trying to remove the wallpaper.

Worked on the border trim but not on the rest. Vinegar and water took the rest off. Yes, I scored it. Would not record unless vinegar or steam doesn’t work.

Works well, I did water down the ge a bit because it does gunk up a spray bottle. I Would probably buy again.

Warm water and fabric softener work far better than this stuff and are, of course, much less expensive.

This product is just plain amazing. It worked so well removing wallpaper in our new home that was there for ages. It wasn't stinky. It didn't make me (a pregnant lady) sick to use and frankly, it WORKED. I returned a steamer and just bought more of this miracle product. Highly recommend.
