What is the difference between vented and ventless vent types?
The two most common vent types for dryers are vented and ventless. The vented dryer is the most popular option for both gas and electric dryers. Vented dryers require an exterior vent to remove humid air from the interior of the dryer. Gas dryers also require a vent to release carbon monoxide. Ventless dryers are a good choice for laundry rooms that do not have an exterior vent. This type of dryer is much easier to install than a vented dry since there is not a need for an exterior vent system. An important consideration is cost and function, vented dryers tend to have lower upfront costs than ventless dryers, while ventless options are more gentle on clothes and tend to take longer to dry their contents. Within Whirlpool dryers we carry 151 vented and 19 ventless dryer options. For more information about the dryer types, check out Gas vs. Electric Dryers.
