Christmas Decor Inspiration to Kick Off the Holiday Season
Caitlin here from Caitlin Marie Design! It is hard to believe, but it’s time to start planning holiday projects and decor! I have found that prepping for the season early helps me enjoy the festive months ahead. Today I’m excited to share Christmas home inspiration to give you a head start. Let’s kick off the season with early holiday projects and decor.
Traditional Christmas Tree Decor Inspiration
I love to choose a style and color palette for my holiday decorations to create a cohesive look. This year I decided on a traditional theme with plaid ribbon and wooden and metallic ornaments.

This 7.5 ft noble fir christmas tree
is the perfect starting point for a traditional tree. I chose the “regular” tree shape to fill out this corner of our living room, but it also comes in a “slim” option. This artificial tree is pre-lit with LED lights and eight light functions, including warm white and multicolor which my kiddos love! It was also quick to set up which makes decorating easy.

To style a traditional Christmas tree, I started with plaid ribbon.
Beginning at the top of the tree, wrap your ribbon around the tree creating waves as you go.

Next, I filled out the tree with traditional style ornaments. Silver shatterproof baubles are perfect for families with kids or pets, and wooden nutcrackers add a nostalgic vibe. I also used gold and silver bell ornaments and glittery snowflakes. I found all of these ornaments in-store at The Home Depot!

I recently installed picture frame molding in our living room using tools and supplies from The Home Depot. Ever since, I have been so excited to style this corner for Christmas! This medium tool box is perfect for my 18-gauge brad nailer and DIY essentials (it would also make a great holiday gift).

We’re still loving all of our living room decor from The Home Depot, especially the walnut coffee table and pitcher vase that is perfect for holiday stems. After giving this space some updates earlier this year, I wanted to decorate for the holidays early so that we could really enjoy our updated Christmas tree corner!
Flocked Christmas Tree Decor Inspiration
In addition to our living room tree, I like to style a Christmas tree in our dining room. Seeing the lights twinkling through the front window from outside feels so magical and is the perfect way to kick off the season.

For this space I began with this 7.5 ft starry light flocked tree, which also has color changing LED lights. I love how the flocking creates a snowy, woodland look.

I kept my decor simple because this tree is just so pretty as is! I used more of the same silver ornaments and another style of this pretty plaid ribbon to create large bows that remind me of ribbon candy.

To complete this snowy flocked tree, I used a galvanized tree collar. It would look beautiful as is, but I gave it a quick makeover with satin bronze spray paint. This is another easy DIY project you can complete early in the holiday season!
Holiday Wreath with Matching Ribbon
After decorating our Christmas trees, I had some plaid ribbon and jingle bells left over. I decided to use them to decorate this little console table in our living room.

The ribbon was perfect for a 24” pinecone and berry wreath that I found in-store at The Home Depot, and I placed the bells in a wooden bowl. A 30” tree in a woven basket (also found in-store) was perfect for filling out the space under the console table.

I hope you enjoyed this Christmas home inspiration as you kick off the holiday season! The Home Depot has all of the decor and tools to make your season magical.
Happy holidays!
