Recycling at Home Depot

Did you know?
This store helps divert waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
This store recycles all shrink wrap, contributing to the 780 million pounds that The Home Depot sold to Trex last year. This is used to manufacture composite decking, bringing us one step closer to a circular economy.
LED lights in your local store helped save on energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours last year. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn More.

Why is my door drafty?
If you have cold air seeping in under the door, check your door sweep, the rubber piece on the bottom of the door, for cracks and missing pieces. Replace it if it's torn. When a house settles unevenly, pieces that once fit snugly can go off-kilter. Gaps can form around the sides of doors or the thresholds may loosen with time. Fill the space with weather stripping or foam tape, and caulk any cracks in the wooden door frame. If you're still feeling drafts around the door, place an insulated fabric door snake along the ground.
When can I use my Blackstone grill or griddle again?
Cold temperatures put a damper on outdoor grilling. When the cold moderates, bring out your propane grill to warm things up even more. A Blackstone griddle puts a fun twist on breakfast when you cook it up outdoors. Hot food with a steaming cup of coffee on a chilly morning is a great way to start the day. Blackstone flat top grills are the solution whenever you want to grill a delicious and savory meal.
How can chainsaws help with tree and yard cleanup?
When the weather warms, clean up garden debris. A Dewalt chainsaw can help this job go quicker than it would be by hand. Check that the chain is oiled, sharpened, tensioned right, and all the safety mechanisms are functional. Then once you've refreshed your chainsaw knowledge, get to chopping off fallen branches, shaping bushes, and cutting out tangled weeds and garden vines.
Are Kids Workshops offered at the 47Th And Western Home Depot?
Kids Workshops are free in-store events that take place every first Saturday of the month between 9am and noon. Registration for workshops is now available online. Keep little doers engaged with a new kit pack for each event. Kits include all necessary craft materials, kit instructions, certificate of achievement, stickers, an apron pin, and a Discovery Education extension activity. Paint and all other required tools are provided at the event. Kits may be ordered online at our Kids Projects Activities page or picked up in-store if you prefer to participate in the workshop from home. Call us or visit our customer service counter to order your kit.
How do I check my Home Depot gift card balance?
Home Depot gift cards are a popular present for housewarming parties, birthdays, and the holidays. DIYers know they're fun to give and to receive. Purchase gift cards online at homedepot.com or in our brick-and-mortar stores. If you receive a gift card, you can visit the 47Th And Western Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Use our gift cards to shop online or redeem them in-store, all with no additional fees.

This review is about the Elston/ Leavitt store
Everyone needs to get in the same page. They need to provide more help when products are not there. Rented a sander, but the recommend paper was not there. Had to go to 3 stores. Also they loaded the same upside down and it tore the inside door of my new car. No one even offered to fix it when I brought it up. I'm very unhappy, it's a new car
I got help right away trying to find an item!

              Great service
Always loved this store on 47th and western. All employees are very nice and helpful. Store is always tighty and clean. Employees always help me load up my stuff whenever I need the help. Store manager is very attentive to customers and employees. If I could give six starts I would. Best Home Depot in Chicago!

Need improvement on hiring the right people for the job
I find it very annoying that when I have a question about a product or trade, the employee responsible of that specific aisle, does not know the answer or have a clue of what I am talking about, or as a last result they end up asking google. I believe that the HOME DEPOT corporation in general is at fault for not hiring the correct personal. I have previously worked at Home Depot in the past as a second job but at least I know construction, which ended up helping as many people as I could because I felt their frustration, still today I help customers when I see they need help or clueless on what to buy for their projects. My question to you is why does a customer have to assist another customer rather than the employees? Thank you for your patience but needed to take this off my chest for a while.
