When it's time to make the leap into a new DIY project, you might not have everything you need in the garage or shed. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Kansas City Rental Center for tools, trucks, and large equipment.
Tool Rental
Start your next home improvement project with confidence and the best tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Kansas City Tool Rental Center expand your toolbox with the tools you don't have at home. You can rent the tools you need and bring them back when the job is done. In fact, if you found the tools so useful that you didn't want to return them, we have used tools available for purchase. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.
Leaf Blowers
Try renting a leaf blower to keep up with your lawn. Fall will be here in no time, so have a leaf blower ready to go. It's far less work than raking. It's also easy to use on concrete sidewalks, hardscaping surfaces, and driveways. You can rent one of our backpack, walk-behind, or handheld leaf blowers.
Chainsaws
Maintain the safety and beauty of the woody shrubs and trees in your yard with a rental chainsaw. As this likely isn't a tool you'll need daily, try renting it when it's time for some yard cleanup. When the leaves are off the trees, it's much easier to spot any troublesome branches and do basic trimming. We carry both electric and gas chainsaws, so we know you'll find one that fits the job.
Heaters
There's nothing better than a comfortable room, so be sure to browse our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep barns, outdoor events, or workspaces warm. They're safer than torch patio heaters because they don't have an open flame, and they also blow hot air for more coverage. We offer gas, propane, and electric heaters in a range of sizes. Pair this with some nice outdoor lighting, and you can extend work or play well into the evening hours.
Truck Rental
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep pickup trucks as well as Penske moving trucks ready for rental, with availability varying by store. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for DIY projects, storage needs, and packing, it's easy to make us your go-to source for transport and moving as well.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle massive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.
Although we're mentioning popular truck, tool, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you have a particular tool in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent a piece of large equipment, a tool, or a truck?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what's available. If you'd like to know what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck, large equipment, or tool. You can also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, check out these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to review the contract and the terms and conditions before you choose a truck.
When can I bring the tools back?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Do saw rentals come with saw blades?
Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you purchase your own. You'll likely not get a sharp blade when you rent, as most people won't leave one on there when they return it. However, you might get lucky and receive an excellent one. Since there's no guarantee, it's better to buy a suitable blade, just in case you need it.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck or large equipment with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We do not accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Some tools and large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I get my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered straight to the job site for an affordable rate — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prep your rented equipment, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't an option, speak to one of our knowledgeable associates for the best way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?
Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
