"As the situation around the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to develop, our paramount concern has been for the health and safety of our customers and associates." However, that was NOT my experience. In that same page it says they are "Limiting the number of customers allowed into stores at one time". No, they are not doing any such thing. I go to the store at Bethlehem, PA. There are a massive number of people in the store, more than I've ever seen in my life going to HD. There is no way possible to remain 6' or more from anyone. Many times I had to stand clear of an isle due to so many people in the store. If I had to estimate, it would be approximately 150-200 customers. There is no regulating of anyone coming into the store whatsoever. But that's not the issue I'm posting about. As you walk in to the entrance of the store, there are signs that everyone must wear a mask or some type of face covering. As I turn a corner in the store there is this HD employee walking the other direction with another employee and this person is NOT wearing a mask or any type of face covering whatsoever. There were many people in the isle, estimate of 10-15 people. Proximity was about 1-4 feet apart as these two walked through the crowd. I look at this guy and say "Hey, you need to be wearing a facemask!", his buddy turns and says "He was wearing one earlier!". Okay, how is that relevant? Is there some lasting effect from wearing a mask earlier? It made no sense. The guy (I learned later is named Anthony from his name tag.) just kept on walking with a smirk on his face. I go to the service desk because we've reserved online one of the propane fire pit tables. An employee greets us. I say "First thing, you've got an employee back there not wearing a face mask.) He simply nods and says "Ok'. I go on to say "We're all wearing face masks and we're required to, so he should also be wearing one. He didn't say anything, so I'm assuming not much was going to be done. In a few minutes, a manager came up. She seemed like a nice lady. She asked "You said one of our employees was not wearing a face mask?". I said "Yeah, he was kinda short, thin, walking down that isle with a heavier-set guy.". She said okay and and immediately started to go look for him. We ended up talking with another couple at the desk who were purchasing the very same table. But as I looked over after a few minutes, and here this guy is behind the service desk, still with no mask, talking it up with the other employees right at the desk, shoulder-to-shoulder with them. I don't mean in close proximity. I mean physically touching shoulder-to-shoulder. I tell the guy helping us and say "That's him right there, still no mask!". He was wearing a blue hat, bright green shirt. I couldn't see his name tag, but my wife saw it and told me later. He starts to walk around the counter that had several Plexiglas panels up and I ask him again "Why aren't you wearing a face mask? Do you see everyone of us here in the store is wearing one?" and because I continued to look at him he says "Take a picture, it will last longer.". What, is this guy 12 years old or something? I then say "This is for both our protection, not just you!" and he says to me "Are you buying essential items there?" in a very snide way. Okay, now that was incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional no matter how you spin it. My blood pressure shot up big time. I yelled out to him as he was walking away and just said "HEY!!! HEY!!!" quite loudly and it turned a lot of heads in the store. I was pretty loud and incredibly angry. Right then the previous manager showed up and told the guy to come with her and she was in front of him at the opening of an isle about 15 feet away so he walked in her direction and they walked together down the isle. I did not see him again. We continued to pay for our merchandise. I saw that she came back out of the isle and returned to behind the service desk. We had some trouble getting out of the store because we'd paid for our things at the service desk and you could not get out due to so many people at everyone of the cash registers including the self-checkout. We ended up asking to go out the "Entrance Only" door, which we were given permission to do. This was a shocking experience for me at HD. I've been shopping at HD ever since they opened them about 40 years ago, thereabouts. I've never had such a disrespectful experience. I know people are uptight over COVID-19, but that is no reason to act in such a way of disrespect, as a Home Depot employee. They have always been helpful to me, always...until now.
