When it's time to make the leap into a new DIY project, you might not have everything you need in the shed or garage. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Phoenix Rental Center for tools, trucks, and large equipment.
Tool Rental
Start your next home improvement project with confidence and the right tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Phoenix Tool Rental Center fill in the gaps in your toolbox with the tools you don't have on hand. You can rent what you need and bring them back when you're done. In fact, if you found the tools so useful that you didn't want to return them, we have used tools available for purchase. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.
Leaf Blowers
Try renting a leaf blower to maintain your lawn. Fall will be in full swing soon, so have a leaf blower ready to go. It's far less work than raking them into piles. It's also easier on hardscaping surfaces, driveways, and concrete sidewalks. Choose from walk-behind, handheld, or backpack leaf blowers.
Generators
Whether you're running a large welding machine or working in a remote location, you'll likely need to rent a generator. Generators also keep basic electrical appliances running when the power goes out. Make life easier during fieldwork or after extreme weather knocks out power to your home.
Heaters
If you dislike working or being outside in the cold, check out our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep outdoor events, barns, or workspaces warm. They're safer than torch patio heaters because they have no open flame, and they also blow the hot air for more coverage. We offer electric, gas, and propane heaters in various sizes. Couple this with nice outdoor lighting and a jacket, and you can extend work or play well into the night with the extra warmth.
Truck and Cargo Van Rentals
For your transport needs, we keep trucks and cargo vans ready for rental. Although availability varies by store, we offer a selection ranging from pickups to flatbed trucks to cargo vans. Choose the right size for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for DIY projects, packing, and storage needs, it's easy to make us your go-to source for truck rental as well.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle massive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.
Although we're calling out popular tool, truck, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you have a particular tool in mind, please reach out to your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent a piece of large equipment, a tool, or a truck?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what's available. If you'd like confirmation before you get there, call first to ask about a large equipment, tool, or truck. You can also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read the Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to review the documentation before choosing your truck.
When do I return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Do saw rentals come with saw blades?
Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you purchase your own. You'll likely not get a sharp blade when you rent, as most people won't leave one on there when they return it. However, you might get lucky and have a sharpened blade on the saw. Since there's no guarantee, it's better to buy a suitable blade, just in case you need it.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Note the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck or large equipment with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Large equipment and select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I receive my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prep your rental delivery for you, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't an option, speak to one of our Orange Aprons for the best way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?
Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
