The Home Depot Rental Center at Coit Rd

When it's time to make the leap into a new DIY project, you might not have everything you need in the shed or garage. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by the Richardson Rental Center for tools, trucks, and large equipment.

Tool Rental
Start your next home improvement project with confidence and the best tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Richardson Tool Rental Center expand your toolbox with the tools you don't have on hand. Rent what you need and bring them back when you're done. In fact, if you found the tools so useful that you didn't want to return them, we have used tools available for purchase. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.

Make Painting Easier with Paint Sprayers and Rental Scaffolding
Beautiful spring days are the perfect time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Renew worn surfaces with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need scaffolding rentals for painting a shed or home, ladder rentals for painting walls, or a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, we have what you need.

Add Insulation When the Weather Is Cooler
To make your home more energy efficient, refresh your insulation in the spring, if possible, before it gets dangerously hot in your attic. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to install it correctly. Choose from a cellulose insulation blower or a fiberglass blower, and insulate those nooks and crannies with ease. You'll enjoy steadier utility bills and a more consistent home temperature with new insulation.

Truck and Cargo Van Rentals
For your transport needs, we keep trucks and cargo vans ready for rental. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from pickups to flatbed trucks to cargo vans. Choose the right size for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline on track. As your source for DIY projects, storage needs, and packing, it's easy to make us your go-to source for truck rental as well.

Box Truck Rentals
If you need a 12-foot box truck for a small move, we have just what you need. Our rental box trucks are a terrific solution for cross-town moves. Use it for transporting extra belongings to a storage space as well. Get your truck, pack it full, then return it to that same store when you're all done.

Penske Moving Trucks
You're confident doing your home improvement projects with us. Do the same when you need to relocate to a new space. We have Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings, from everything in a college dorm or small apartment to a 5-bedroom house.

Large Equipment Rentals
Handle massive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're mentioning popular tool, truck, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular tool in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent tools, trucks, or large equipment?

Stop by your local Rental Center to see which tools or trucks you can rent. If you'd like to know what's in stock, call first to ask about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You could also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, including terms and conditions for the equipment and CLEAR verification.

How long can I rent tools?

You can rent a tool for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY projects may only require a short rental period, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I return the tools?

You can return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.

Do saw rentals come with saw blades?

Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you buy your own. Your rental likely won't come with a new blade. However, you might get lucky and receive an excellent blade on a tile saw, for instance. As there's no guarantee, it's better to purchase a suitable blade, just in case you need it.

Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?

Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. When you don't refill the truck, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?

No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Some tools and all large equipment requires ID verification via CLEAR.

How do I get my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prep your rental delivery for you, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't an option, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?

Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra hours or days you require.
