When it's time to make the leap into a new home improvement project, you might not have everything you need in the shed or garage. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Plano Rental Center for tools, trucks, and large equipment.
Tool Rental
Start your next DIY project with confidence and the best tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Plano Tool Rental Center expand your toolbox with the tools you don't have on hand. Rent what you need and bring them back when the job is done. If those rental tools just went from wanted to needed, we have used tools available for purchase. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.
Leaf Blowers
Try renting a leaf blower to blow away leaves. Fall will be here before you know it, so have a leaf blower ready to go. It's much easier than raking them into piles. It's also easy to use on driveways, concrete sidewalks, and hardscaping surfaces. Clear your yard by using handheld, backpack, or walk-behind leaf blowers.
Air Compressors
When renting pneumatic tools like nail guns, you'll need an air compressor to provide the power. Renting an air compressor means you save room in your garage while getting the perfect tools for your job. Choose from a gas or electric air compressor in a size that is right for your project.
Heaters
If you dislike working or being outside in cooler temps, check out our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep outdoor events, barns, or workspaces warm. They are safer than torch patio heaters because they have no open flame, and they also blow the hot air for greater coverage. We carry propane, electric, and gas heaters in various sizes. Pair this with good outdoor lighting and a jacket, and you can extend work or play well into the evening with the extra warmth.
Truck Rental
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep pickup trucks as well as Penske moving trucks ready for rental, with availability varying by store. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for packing, DIY projects, and storage needs, it's easy to make us your go-to source for moving and transport as well.
Box Truck Rentals
When you need a 12-foot box truck for a small move, we've got just what you need. Our rental box trucks are a fantastic solution for cross-town moves. Use it for transporting extra belongings to a storage space as well. Pick up your truck, pack it full, then bring it back to that same store when you're all done.
Penske Moving Trucks
You're confident doing your DIY projects with The Home Depot. Do the same when it's time to move to a new space. We have Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings, from everything in a college dorm or small apartment to the contents of a 5-bedroom house.
How do I rent a piece of large equipment, a tool, or a truck?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what's available. If you'd like confirmation before you get there, call first to inquire about a large equipment, truck, or tool. You can also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.
How long can I rent tools?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off any residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Do saw rentals come with saw blades?
Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you purchase your own. Your rental likely won't come with a new blade. However, you might get lucky and receive an excellent blade on the saw. As there's no guarantee, it's better to purchase a suitable blade, just in case you need it.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Note the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck or large equipment with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Large equipment and select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I get my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prep your rented equipment, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?
Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
