Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.

What are some kid-friendly Halloween ideas?
For a holiday that's not spooky, choose Halloween yard decorations that are kid-friendly. Halloween inflatables and Halloween doormats are festive solutions that aren't as spooky as many other outdoor Halloween decorations. Remember to update your decor as your kids grow older and braver.
Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether you're dealing with tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power when the elements take it out. When considering different generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
Should I make siding repairs before it gets cold?
Make sure your home is ready for cold weather by repairing or replacing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in any crevices, you could have problems. Check bricks and cinder blocks for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. On the outside of your home, examine roof shingles or metal roofing panels for damage or rust that could let water in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams. Lastly, change out chimney caps and vinyl siding if they're damaged.
What storage solutions do you offer?
As you prepare for the holidays, give yourself extra space in the house and stow away the rest. Garage cabinets keep tools, decorations, and more out of the way. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. Shoe racks and other storage containers take summer belongings out of the equation. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the space you've dreamed of.
How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?
Home Depot gift cards are a popular present for the holidays, housewarming parties, and birthdays. DIYers know these gift cards are fun to give and to receive. You can buy gift cards online at homedepot.com or in our brick-and-mortar stores. If you receive a gift card, you can check your gift card balance online or visit your local Home Depot store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you. Use our gift cards to shop online or redeem them in-store, all with no additional fees.
