How do I rent a moving truck or tool?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks or tools you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. Can I rent a tool by the hour?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY jobs may only require a short rental period, and bigger jobs can also be accomodated. You've got options to rent tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
It's fine to return the tools early if you complete your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need the tools longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a pickup truck, van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before selecting a truck.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
