Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

It's also a great time for setting up new appliances, starting lawn and garden work outdoors, and cleaning indoors. Don't forget to upgrade your outdoor power equipment as well. Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances life throws at you. Whether dealing with tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements take it out. When exploring different generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
Why should I repair my roof before spring severe weather arrives?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperatures swings and storms by replacing any broken or faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine metal roof panels or shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check brick and cinder blocks for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be swapped out if damaged.
Does The Home Depot sell doorbell cameras?
Enjoy peace of mind, safety, and privacy with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through the peephole or an adjacent window when you can watch visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off potential porch pirates. Many cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you flexible and easy accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
