Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store reduced energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Do you carry tall Halloween decorations that talk?
Yes, we carry several options of Halloween decor that make noise and/or move. Our Halloween animatronics bring spooky characters to life. Life-like moving creatures will be the talk of the neighborhood. This includes current favorites like Skelly, the 12-foot skeleton, and Dean the Deathologist, a dapper bartender. For extra drama, use a fog machine or two to conceal the animatronics until they start to roar or cackle. You can even become part of the scene by hiding in a Halloween costume and jumping out to surprise unsuspecting trick-or-treaters.
Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for any circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with thunderstorms, blizzards or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements knock it out. When considering different generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
What home repairs should I make before it gets cold?
Make sure your home is ready for colder weather by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in any crevices, you could have problems. Check cinder block and brick for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. On the outside of your home, examine roofing shingles or metal roofing panels for damage or rust that could let water in. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams. Lastly, replace vinyl siding and chimney caps if they're in poor condition.
How can I make more space for the holidays?
As you prepare for the holidays, stow unused items to free up space. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Shoe storage and other storage bins take summer belongings out of the equation. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you plenty of it.
How do I check my Home Depot gift card balance?
Gift cards to The Home Depot are an excellent present during the holiday season or for any occasion. DIYers know these gift cards are fun to give and to receive. You can buy gift cards online at homedepot.com or in our stores. If you receive a gift card, you can check your gift card balance online or visit the Summerlin Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you. Redeem our gift cards for online or in-store shopping, all with no additional fees.
