When it's time to make the leap into a big home improvement project, you might not have everything you need in the garage or shed. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Dayton Rental Center for tools, trucks, and large equipment.
Tool Rental
Start your next DIY project with confidence and the right tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Dayton Tool Rental Center expand your toolbox with the tools you don't have on hand. You can rent what you need and bring them back when you're done. If those rental tools just went from wanted to needed, we have used tools available for purchase. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.
Leaf Blowers
Try renting a leaf blower to blow leaves away. Fall will be here in no time, so have a leaf blower at the ready. It's far less work than raking. It's also great to use on concrete sidewalks, driveways, and hardscaping surfaces. You can rent one of our handheld, backpack, or walk-behind leaf blowers.
Insulation
If you need to prep your home for cooler weather, consider upgrading your insulation. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to install it efficiently. Choose from a cellulose insulation blower or a fiberglass blower, and get those nooks and crannies insulated with ease. Installing insulation keeps your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, all while tempering your heating and cooling bills.
Heaters
A comfortable room makes everything easier, so be sure to browse our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep workspaces, barns, or outdoor events warm. They're safer than torch patio heaters because they don't have an open flame, and they also blow the hot air for more coverage. We carry electric, propane, and gas heaters in different sizes. Couple this with good outdoor lighting, and you can extend work or play well into the evening hours.
Truck Rental
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep pickup trucks as well as Penske moving trucks ready for rental, with availability varying by store. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for storage needs, packing, and DIY projects, it's easy to make us your go-to source for transport and moving as well.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we have in stock.
Although we're mentioning popular tool, truck, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you have a particular tool in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent tools, trucks, or large equipment?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what's available. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You can also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, check out the Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to review the contract and the terms and conditions before you choose a truck.
When do I need to return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Do saw rentals come with saw blades?
Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you purchase your own. Your rental likely won't come with a new blade. However, you might get lucky and receive an excellent blade on the saw. Since there's no guarantee, it's better to purchase a suitable blade, just in case you need it.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. When you don't refill the truck, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Some tools and large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I get my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prepare your rental delivery for you, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't an option, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?
Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
