When it's time to make the leap into a new home improvement project, you might not have everything you need in the shed or garage. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Troutdale Rental Center for tools, trucks, and large equipment.
Tool Rental
Start your DIY project with the right tools for the job. Let our Tool Rental Center in Troutdale expand your tool belt with the items you don't have on hand. Rent the tools you need and return them when the job is finished. If those rental tools just went from wanted to needed, we have used tools available to purchase. The retired rental tools are discounted in comparison to the new items in our aisles.
Leaf Blowers
Try renting a leaf blower to maintain your yard. Fall will be here in no time, so have a leaf blower at the ready. It's far less work than raking them into piles. It's also easy to use on driveways, hardscaping surfaces, and concrete sidewalks. Choose from walk-behind, handheld, or backpack leaf blowers.
Insulation
If you need to prep your home for cooler weather, consider upgrading your insulation. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to install it efficiently. Choose from a fiberglass blower or a cellulose insulation blower, and get those nooks and crannies insulated with ease. Installing insulation keeps your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, all while tempering your heating and cooling bills.
Heaters
If you dislike working or being outside in the cold, check out our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep outdoor events, barns, or workspaces warm. They're safer than torch patio heaters because they have no open flame, and they also blow the hot air for more coverage. We offer electric, propane, and gas heaters in various sizes. Couple this with good outdoor lighting and a jacket, and you can extend work or play well into the night with the extra warmth.
Truck Rental
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep pickup trucks as well as Penske moving trucks on hand, with availability varying by store. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for DIY projects, packing, and storage needs, it's easy to make us your go-to source for transport and moving as well.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.
Although we're calling out popular tool, truck, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you have a particular tool in mind, please reach out to your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent a piece of large equipment, a tool, or a truck?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what's available. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to ask about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You could also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read the Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
How long can I rent tools?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and bigger jobs aren't a problem either. You've got options to rent tools by the day, month, or week, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I need to return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean any built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Do saw rentals come with saw blades?
Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you purchase your own. You'll likely not get a sharp blade when you rent, as most people won't leave one on there when they return it. However, you may luck out and receive an excellent one. Since there's no guarantee, it's better to buy a suitable blade, just in case you need it.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck or large equipment with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Large equipment and select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I receive my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to one of our Orange Aprons for the best way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?
Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
