The Home Depot Rental Center at Troy

When it's time to make the leap into a new home improvement project, you might not have everything you need in the shed or garage. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Troy Rental Center for tools, trucks, and large equipment.

Tool Rental
Start your next DIY project with confidence and the best tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Troy Tool Rental Center fill in the gaps in your toolbox with the tools you don't have at home. You can rent the tools you need and bring them back when the job is done. In fact, if you found the tools so useful that you didn't want to return them, we have used tools available for purchase. Compared to the new items on our store shelves, they're discounted.

Leaf Blowers
Try renting a leaf blower to keep up with your yard. Fall will be here before you know it, so have a leaf blower ready to go. It's far less work than raking. It's also easy to use on concrete sidewalks, hardscaping surfaces, and driveways. Clear your yard by using walk-behind, handheld, or backpack leaf blowers.

Chainsaws
Preserve the safety and beauty of the woody shrubs and trees in your yard with a rental chainsaw. As this likely isn't a tool you'll need daily, it makes sense to rent it when prepping your yard for a new season. When the leaves are off the trees, it's much easier to spot any troublesome branches and do basic trimming. We carry both electric and gas chainsaws, so we know you'll find one that fits the job.

Heaters
A comfortable room makes everything easier, so be sure to check out our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep workspaces, outdoor events, or barns warm. They're safer than torch patio heaters because they have no open flame, and they also blow the hot air for greater coverage. We offer propane, electric, and gas heaters in a range of sizes. Pair this with some nice outdoor lighting, and you can extend work or play well into the evening hours.

Truck Rental
To move large tool rentals or anything else, we keep pickup trucks as well as Penske moving trucks on hand, with availability varying by store. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for packing, storage needs, and DIY projects, it's easy to make us your go-to source for moving and transport as well.

Large Equipment Rentals
Handle massive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we have in stock.

Although we're calling out popular truck, tool, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you have a particular tool in mind, please reach out to your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent tools, trucks, or large equipment?

Stop by your local Rental Center to see what's available. If you'd like confirmation before you get there, call first to ask about a large equipment, tool, or truck. You can also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.

How long can I rent tools?

You can rent a tool for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and bigger jobs aren't a problem either. You've got options to rent tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.

When can I bring the tools back?

You can return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean any built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.

Do saw rentals come with saw blades?

Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you buy your own. You'll likely not get a sharp blade when you rent, as most people won't leave one on there when they return it. However, you may luck out and have a sharpened one. As there's no guarantee, it's better to buy a suitable blade, just in case you need it.

Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?

Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Large equipment and select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.

How do I get my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered straight to the job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prepare your rental delivery for you, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't an option, speak to one of our Orange Aprons for the best way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?

Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
