Horrible Customer Service and Quality of Installation Services
Purchased carpet and installation services by phone, even ordering samples online. Never stepped into the store to initiate our carpet project. Discovered later that the local store ends up responsible for everything purchased online. Our experience with the local store was horrendous! First, we were told my CC promotion was going to be automatically applied. It wasn't. Had to fight with my Home Depot CC and the local store to have it applied, taking hours to resolve. We were made to present ourselves at the store to fix a promotion. Then we were overcharged for disassembly of furniture that the installer never touched. We disassembled and moved all furniture ourselves. Was told they "had to look into it because the installer didn't provide notes." Installer was unprofessional and unresponsive. Ultimately, it took several months to reverse the erroneous charges even after being told twice it was resolved. This took more hours on the phone to resolve. After carpet installation, one room had a highly visible seam. The local store sent the same installer to inspect his own work weeks after we brought this to their attention. They were definitely not in a hurry to fix any issues. The local store tried hard to avoid fixing the peaked carpet seam by stating it met industry standards, even blaming the position of windows, sunlight, and finally the carpet selected, yet no disclaimer was given prior to purchase that the carpet select would be problematic under any circumstance. Our photo speaks for itself. Now this issue took 3 months to resolve and countless more hours on the phone with corporate. The insult, our walls and bordering tile were also damaged in multiple areas. Causing more frustration was the local store would only communicate via text at random times. Their text communication was ineffective, slow, even combative and unprofessional. At one point we just wanted all the carpet removed and refunded. Nails were left protruding through put new carpet. The installer attempted to saw them off to hide the fact that they reused the old tacking boards set up for higher pile carpet. We called corporate several times and spoke to to about 6 employees (not at local store) to eventually get the attention of a regional manager. We had high hopes of using Home Depot for our upcoming bathroom and kitchen remodels. This experience was so frustrating and disappointing we will be taking our business elsewhere. Consider taking yours elsewhere.

Not very helpful and accuse me of stealing
My swamp cooler stopped working yesterday, Aug 26, 2023 so I went into Home Depot to get parts, nobody showed up to help me and I left 1/2 hrs later with what I thought I needed. Something wasn't right. So this morning, August 27, 2023 at 830am I took the old belt in to measure it against the new belt and make sure I had gotten the right one. Well, after I check out at 8:43 Ganae is standing at the exit and tells me "We need to talk about what's in this bag" and then proceeded to grab the bag from me. I was confused and asked 'what are you talking about'? She tells me "I saw you take the package of another belt and put it in here" . I pull the belt out and told her "as you can see this is the old belt" and she kept harassing me about it. I'm like hold on, this is Home Depot, home of do it yourself we're here to help and this person is clearly not willing to help. So I asked her for her name and she refused to give it to me. I walk away and she started following me out the door yelling "let me give your the number, here's the number, don't you want the number".
I have 3 rentals along with my own home, I have had a HD card for over 15 yrs and have only shopped at HD for all of my home repair needs. I am a very unhappy customer.

Skilled staff
I've received excellent help from Home Depot staff. They not only help me find things, but offer suggestions that save me time and money. The Westside store is especially friendly and helpful.

Exceptional service
One of the employees went out of his way to help me while on his way off duty. He spent considerable time answering my questions, even went so far as to lift my purchase (very heavy) and push it to the cashier.
I was very impressed by his work ethic and also notified his store management about his exceptional service!

Adequate experience
We were made to wait after our purchase of over $500 for approval from a manager. Why? It was embarrassing. We have never been made to feel that way before. And why do you need to know what type of project we were working on?

Shopping
The worker are mostly helpful but the female is better. When I wanted all the remaining blocks on the pallet she told the worker to get a forklift rather than have me put them on a cart.

Knowledge and Experience
I understand that Home Depot is trying to maximize profit; however, you have sacrificed the type of customer experience that those of us who use Home Depot for its original mission. In the past( Not so long ago) Home Depot hired skilled tradesmen and tradeswomen to manage customer needs in important departments within each store. For example, you could find plumbers and electricians working in those departments helping you solve problems on the job which you are working on at home:
Now, you are greeted by teenagers with their noses stuck on their phones. Granted they are quick operationally to point you to the appropriate aisle if you can name the product which you are searching for specifically. There is no suggestion of alternative remedies or better products.
To test the young Home Depot team member, I asked the associate where I could find a left handed hammer. After searching their phone, with a puzzled facial expression, the response I received gave me a greater puzzled appearance. “Unfortunately sir, I apologize but we seem to be out of stock and I don’t s have an expected delivery date”.
Fighting back the laughter, I thanked them and departed.
Unfortunately, Home Depot has lost the plot.,I am disappointed that you have sacrificed my need for your profit.

lack of assistance
associates will not help like the days of old. females will not help a guy, I'm not here for your looks, I'm here to buy my products and get out fast as possible. females here lack intelligence and knowledgeable layout of store and products

Used item sold as new
I spent an extra hour of my time and 16 miles in my truck to return an item which was sold as new. This was a Husky brand retractable electrical extension cable. The box looked new but when I got it home, ALL of the mounting hardware was missing and there was paint chipped away where there were washers tightened down. I cannot rate the item since I could not use it. When I returned the item there were no others available even though the app said the item was in stock.

Delivery of my new fridge was a fiasco-arrived damaged, now further inconvenience in my wait for a replacement pt it
This has been a huge inconvenience for me along with a major disappointment - cleaned out the old fridge and placed a lot of the food in the garage, rearranged furniture to accommodate the new fridge replacement, so now need to move everything back to the old fridge - just to move yet again when the new one arrives

I’ve been shopping this store for about 2.5 years now and everyone who works there is friendly and will gladly go out of their way to help you. It makes return shopping something I look forward to.

Watch out for bait ‘n switch scams
West ABQ Home Depot ran a bait ‘n switch scam on me. Advertised a Milwaukee tool at about 50%. I bought it along with another item for store pickup. Was notified my order was ready. Upon arrival they cancelled the Milwaukee tool. Being in need I reluctantly chose another item, cost me about $100 more than expected.

Worst experience ever
I purchased a dishwasher from home depot the employee in the dishwasher washer department. The employee entered the phone number wrong unfortunately I did not check the information on the receipt. The info was linked to another person. This person got an email that a purchase was made she managed to cancel my purchase that was made with my credit card and the rest of the items were still charged. This in no way was ok. If I could give less than 1 star I would

Brutal at checkout
Screwed up my 10% off coupon told me it didn’t work with the dewalt items. Found out he input 12 mths financing instead of my discount.
So now I have to go back and try to fix this.
I pay my card in full so financing doesn’t help me any

Inexperienced Staff
Previously, there were reliable and trade specific skilled workers to assist in my decision making for a project. This inspired confidence and achieved positive results.
Now, there are very few reliable staffers who can help. It seems Home Depot has chosen to save pennies by opting for cheap labor. These people have little knowledge or skill in the areas they service.

Checkout Nightmare
I found almost everything I needed except one item. No problem except I had to go over to the other big box to get it.
The real issue was checkout. Trying to pay for the stuff I got was very frustrating. There were no manned checkouts open so I had to self checkout. Three Home Depot employees were clustered around the self checkout area. None bothered to help or even acknowledge me but instead were talking and laughing amongst themselves as I struggled to scan and try to fit my items into flimsy plastic bags that were all stuck together and difficult to manage. Then I had to get out my phone, open the Home Depot app, find my military discount code, and finally scan it to finish checkout. All the while the three employees just stood there not assisting or even acknowledging me or any of the other customers who were all struggling to self checkout.
I’m always apprehensive about shopping at Home Depot because of the ambiguity of military discount application to certain products and not others, and the checkout process.
I think Home Depot could do better.
