About This Product
The GE Heavy-Duty Household Water Filtration System reduces sand, sediment and rust from your main water supply. It is a high-flow system with a 40 psi - 100 psi feed water-pressure tolerance. A clear sump allows easy viewing of the filter to monitor its condition and a canister wrench is included for easy filter changes. A bypass valve helps increase filter life when filtered water is not needed. This quick-connect system comes with hardware and an installation kit. It is NSF certified for safety and reliability.

Will this work with a tankless water heater?
The GXWH40L can be used with a tankless water heater.
Is the canister the same as GXWH35F?
No, they're not the same canister as they are different model numbers, they are different canisters.
What micron size
If the FXHTC filter is used, the nominal particulate reduction is 25 microns. If the FXHSC filter is used, the nominal particulate reduction is 30 microns. Please call your dealer to purchase a filter.
One of your responses say, "Neither filter for this system is recommended for untreated water." What do you considered "untreated water" and why wouldn't it be able to filter that? I have well water.
Untreated water refers to water has not been disinfected or is of unknown microbiological quality. This filtration system is designed to reduce sediment and similar particles, but it is not intended to remove bacteria, viruses, or other microorganisms.
So after reading all the reviews and answers my question is, my pump a red jacket submersible that pushes water to my tank. would this filter work for this application?

Can I use this filer on 1/2" copper pipe?
This water filtration system comes with an installation kit that allows it to be installed on a 1" or 3/4" copper plumbing connection. We recommend consulting a qualified plumber for any other hardware.
What is the total depth including mounting bracket?
The overall depth with the mounting bracket is 9".
Does it help lower magnesium levels?
This is just a filter housing, so it doesn't remove anything untI you put a filter in it. Why would you want to lower magnesium? Americans spend tons of money on Magnesium supplements because our foods no longer give us enough.
Our Whole House Filtration systems, including model GXWH40L do not lower magnesium levels.

Designed for installations where a 1-in. water main is present at the point of entry, this filter housing features stainless steel reinforced inlet/outlet and cap for added durability. The large filter size provides 4 times the capacity where high sediment concentration is an issue. Because water quality varies among locations, the WH-HD200-C is sold without a filter cartridge. WSP-50 Reusable Spin Down Sediment Water Filter with Push-Fit Plumbing Fittings 20 GPM 1 in. MNPT 3/4 in. FNPT
The WSP spin down sediment filter is the first line defense to your appliances. It protects and extends the life of your standard filters by removing the large dirt, sand and rust particles before they reach the rest of your plumbing system, including expensive appliances. WSP50 is flushable and reusable. With just a toggle of a switch, it can flush out particles that are trapped in its filter. The best thing is, you dont even need to shut down the water supply to do that. The WSP spin down sediment filter comes with a variety of options in micro size. Smaller microns allow less through, but to get most life and efficiency out of your filters its important to only go as small as you need. Differences in water quality and your water pressure affect the performance of the WSP. The WSP-50 spin down sediment filter is ideal for filtering out course sediment larger than 50 micron. The stainless steel screen makes the flushing and cleaning process very simple, allowing flushing of the contaminants through the bottom of the filter when the cartridge begins to get clogged. This allows the stainless steel filter cartridge to be used over and over again without needing to be replaced. The 1 in. outlet MNPT fitting provides a maximum 20 GPM flow rate and the WSP-50 also features 3/4 in. NPT threads on the inlet and outlet. The housing is manufactured with FDA approved grade materials. WSP series can be used for waste water treatment by spin down the sediment.
