It is not recommended to use foam applicators to apply shellacs and lacquers, as the solvent may attack the foam and the applicator can leave bubbles in the finish. A better option would be a good quality natural bristle paint brush. Thanks,

The general rule on nap size is: the smoother the surface, the shorter the nap; the rougher the surface, the longer the nap.
