Questions & Answers
How often must the water filter be changed and wha dose it cost?
We recommend replacing the water filter every 6-12 months. Depending on the quality or hardness of your water, you may need to replace the filter sooner. Model GSS23GYPFS uses an XWFE water filter that you can purchase here: https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-Genuine-XWFE-Refrigerator-Water-Filter-for-GE-XWFE/312928339.
Is the door alarm supposed to be always lit? I don't think it was on at first. How do you turn it off?
To set the door alarm, press the Door Alarm pad until the indicator light comes on. The alarm will sound if either door remains open for more than 3 minutes. The indicator light will go out, and the beeping will stop when the door is closed. To turn the door alarm off, press the Door Alarm pad again.

There is a low humming noise coming from the refrigerator - all the time. What is causing this?
The new high-efficiency compressor may run faster and longer than the compressor in your old refrigerator. You may also notice a high-pitched humming or pulsating sound while it’s running. It’s normal for the refrigerator to run for longer periods, especially when the doors are opened frequently. This is normal operation. For more information on sounds, please review the article titled “Refrigerator - Normal Sounds and Noises Made” on the GE Appliances website. On the left side of the refrigerator, it will be up against the counter, which is 25 1/2 inches deep but on the right side of the refrigerator there is a wall that is 38 and three-quarter inches deep. The space is 38 inches wide.
The refrigerator will fit within the 38" wide opening; however, with the doors open at 90° including the door handle, the required width is 42 1/4". The wall will interfere with the door opening and limit access to the refrigerator. The cabinet depth is approximately 34", while the wall extends 38 3/4". Why is the glass shelf on top of the first drawer slanted or tilted?
The shelf that also serves as the lid for the top drawer is not designed to be slanted. We recommend making sure it is properly resting on the supports and the drawer is not overfilled and pushing on the shelf.
How about a replacement 2 months waiting on a part I think I've been very nice, no help it seems to be out there how about it ge or HD.
