Spot on. I have had my posts on my house for 15 years. One rotted out on me so I picked this one up. The exact same design and build. It is solid, clearly labeled for the weights it supports and even had pre drilled holes for the bottom plate. It took the white paint I put on it perfectly and I only needed two coats to completely seal the wood. I am very happy with this post, I have properly vented it and I am hoping to get another 15 years out of this one.

    Poor Quality - Garbage
I bought 6 posts to build a gazebo. After 1 month 4 of the 6 posts have cracks - 2 of them are severely cracked!! Each post should support 3,000 lbs; the incomplete roof ( no shingles yet) is less than 500 lbs. This product is GARBAGE. Who will pay to disassemble the gazebo and replace the posts?

      Do Not Buy
Garbage. Rotted out after 6 years. Avoid this column.

They don't make them like they used to
Not happy about replacing two of the four columns on my front porch only 5 years later. Even less happy to replace them with the same sub-par columns that are way over priced and don't even match the originals. Not happy about having zero options as this was the only wood column available. The cut edges on the old ones were painted and they still rotted. The same thing happened to my neighbor and I expect that it will happen again with these since they're made the same way. Also, the posts need to be cut on both the top and bottom edges in order to fit. You need to try to line up the millwork with the existing posts but the milled area is shorter than the old ones so no matter what, they don't exactly match. HomeDepot needs to carry more options for wood columns. It was either this or convert to the composite style which would have required replacing all of the columns and railings.

Only a 2 year life span
Figured I do a review after 2 years... I looking to replace two columns. I have these and painted them with several coats of paint. These are not solid columns and the glue is separating causing them to slowly split vertically. I'm probably going to buy the vinyl 5-in columns to replace them but I'm looking around for vinyl covered 4-in solid columns for now.

The quality of the wood and construction is less than good for the price. The product is sold as a primed and ready to install and paint. I needed to hand sand the product then fill-in the torn textured wood with a wood filler and Alex paint caulk in order to make it look better. I expect a better product for the price…
