Phalaenopsis orchids actually enjoy being root bound, so repotting isn't necessary until the roots start growing out of the drainage holes or the potting mix starts to decompose. Although your orchid arrived in a four inch pot looking great with 8 blooms and six large green leaves, it doesn't automatically mean it needs repotting.
I think sunlight, but not direct sunlight...
Hi Sele, Light is easy to provide for Phalaenopsis. It will thrive indoors under normal lighting conditions with indirect sunlight. However, direct sunlight may cause damage to the leaves and blooms.
There are 3 leading causes to bottom yellowing leaves and falling off: 1. Watering issues: too little or too much water can cause plant to lose leaves. Try drenching and watering every other week or when media has dried out completely. 2. Wrong temperature: too hot or too cold will affect your plant. Keep her in 72-80 degree temperature. if you're comfortable, she's comfortable. 3. Aging of plant: some of the old leaves will eventually fall off from the bottom once new leaves start sprouting out. You can cut off the leaves. Spray your scissors with alcohol prior to cutting.
We recommend a 20-10-20 slow release fertilizer or 20-10-20 (water diluted) fertilizer to be applied bi-weekly.
Dear value customer, Phalaenopsis orchids actually enjoy being root bound, the roots need to be compacted and compressed inside their pot. If you like you can repot the orchid in a vase of your choice but try to keep the roots compressed. Once the bloom cycle ends, orchids look wonderful on tree trunks, palm trees or just attached to a drift wood. Always placing the orchid in an area where it will not receive direct sun light. Any other question please feel to email us directly to info@evergraceorchids.com. Have a nice day.
Dear value customer, Yes you can cut the stem off the Phalaenopsis once its done blooming. Next blooming season a new stem will grow out. If there is anything else we can help you with please feel free to email us at info@evergraceorchids.com. Have a wonderful day.
Excellent delivery
Do not remove any of the moss... I have had mine since March 20, 2020 (over two months now!) and it is still as beautiful as the day it arrived. I put several ice cubes on the top of moss 2 times a week. It sits in the same place... light, but no direct sun. After I had the plant for 3 weeks, my 91 year-old husband knocked the table over and both he and the orchid fell to the floor. Both survived !
