Each Plain Bracket Corbel is meticulously crafted to achieve the highest standards for a traditional and classic style look. Its clean lines and delicate curves reflect its simple but yet high end appearance. Hand carved from furniture grade North American solid hardwoods. Ornaments are used for wooden furniture cabinetry projects such as kitchens islands, under countertops overhangs, under oven range hoods above the stove. A:  Thanks for your inquiry. The top width measures 2-3/4". Below the top measures 2-1/2" but it tapers down to 1-3/4"

          A:  It is NOT 10" deep but rather 7"!! They make a larger one that you'll need to consider. Also, for a "very"heavy shelf you'll need more to give adequate support!

            A:  We used it under a top for a kitchen island with the 7" horizontal and the 10" vertical. I don't know of any reason (other than aesthetic) that you couldn't use it either way.

                    The Pro Decor plain Alder Corbels were very well finished and ready for stain. I ordered five of them for a kitchen island countertop. One of them was not 90° from the top to back. (8”x12”) it was off by 1/8”. It doesn’t sound like much but this is stain grade finish work. overall it’s very good.
