Product Overview

The ApolloPEX 20-Port PEX Manifold with 1/2 in. Brass Ball Valves is simple to install. Think of it as the circuit breaker for your water delivery system. The installation of an ApolloPEX manifold provides a single point flow control over each outlet. ApolloPEX manifolds are designed for implementation within home-run type PEX piping systems eliminating the need for additional fittings or connections between the water source and the point of use fixture. ApolloPEX manifolds are a key component of the most economical potable water piping systems. Also capable of integration into hydronic heating systems, ApolloPEX manifolds can be secured into place using copper crimps, stainless steel pinch clamps or stainless steel crimp sleeves (all sold separately). The ApolloPEX system is a comprehensive piping system comprised of brass fittings, poly alloy fittings, manifolds, valves, fasteners, tools and tubing designed for implementation in water delivery systems, simple or complex.
  • Single point of command and control of your residential/commercial potable water delivery or hydronic piping system
  • Allows for longer, continuous runs of PEX pipe with fewer connections
  • Most economical piping system available

I got this manifold because it has metal valves that are very easy to open and close. It replaces a manifold that had plastic valves that were hard to turn, some of which had broken turning knobs. This item was easy to install. I had a little leakage around a couple of the valves, solved by tightening the nuts a little bit with a slip-joint pliers. I had originally hand tightened everything. I could have gotten by with the next size smaller but I wanted available ports for possible expansion. I was concerned there would not be enough caps to cover the unused ports. They provided 8 caps and I used 7. I think you can order replacement valves, but I don't see anywhere to order extra caps if you want them. My only complaint is the the sticky labels they provided do NOT stick very well on the textured surface of the black cover. One of the labels fell off after only a couple of days and others were loosening. I would like to have the option to connect water lines to both the top and bottom instead of just one end. It appears that one end is glued closed with no threaded connection.

So far so good
It's been about a month and no leaks or issues. Install was easy and painless. The only downside is the plastic fittings break very easily if over tightened. Over I'm pleased.

    Works, as advertised
Seems good. Installed a couple of weeks ago. Easy to install, no leaks. The mounting bracket is metal, but the manifold itself is an ABS type material instead of metal.

    Cheap and fussy
I debated whether to buy this or build my own manifold. I should have built my own and suspect that I will have to in the future. This manifold consists of four sections of fairly flimsy plastic pipe connected by brass unions to form two trunks. Each trunk has ten male threaded openings onto which are fitted 1/2" PEX adapters. Plastic threaded connections are always fussy to work with and these are no different. Getting everything leak-free was a trial and involved a lot of thread sealant. Because PEX is pretty stiff and curved when shipped in rolls, any way that you connect it, there is some stress at the adapter. The flimsy nature of the plastic is not reassuring. My confidence is low that this thing is not going to spring a leak on me in the future. One of the great things about PEX is that you can get rid of so many connections, reducing the potential for leaks. But, because all your lines terminate at plastic adapters that seal with rubber washers, the result is like connecting up a bunch of garden hoses. Like garden hoses, you have to get things just right for a leak free connection. Margins must be huge on this product. There can't be more than $60 worth of parts. At $100, I might give it 3 stars. At almost $300, I feel like a fool for buying it. It was the only painful part of replumbing our entire house with PEX. But, it is installed and, at least for now, leak free; you can make this thing work if you really want to, but your time and money is probably better spent on any alternative.
