Looks georgeous, not a project for the meek, getting the right parts not intuitive
I looked at this at (competitor) where they actually had a display (no in-store info at Depot), but bought it at Depot because they advertised 1 week delivery versus 2-3 times that for (competitor)- both same price. A couple of supremely annoying things you need to know ahead of this project that will make it go much better for you: IF you live in a state where there has to be a 4" or less opening between rails or steps (like Michigan), you will need to order a STAIR RISER kit that Depot does not list. I called Depot and the friendly gentleman that helped me finally just suggested I call the company directly and order it direct.... Took the company a day to get me a part number and a price, but I did get it 2 days later after that. this added about $250 bucks to the project. ALSO we had a short install (10 rises) it turns out that for less than 12 rises (kit allows up to 13 I think) you need a shorter pipe (32" riser pipe vs. 49") up the middle to achieve this that is NOT included in the kit. Depot sells it but it will not show up on the website There is one line of small print in the catalog that mentions this but again, no part is referenced- frustrating! So once we began the set up it took another week to actaully find and get the parts needed to finish the project. SO, your stairkit could actually be almost several hundred $$ more by time you actually get the parts you need.... Other things: Don't be fooled by the plastic look- this is a very sturdy, mostly solid wood and metal construction, and beautifully engineered. My only gripe with the product itself is that for the price another handrail option beside the PVC with wood simulated decal on would be nice- a brass tube or something a bit more genuine would really finish it. ALSO- to make Code with handrail clearance you need a MIN. 66" opening- (or 3" dia. more than the stair radius you choose) you will not find that info anywhere on the mfr or Depots website! This caught me off guard as the mfr website shows a minimum 65" opening. Bottom line is when you get done, you'll really like it!
