if i'm fastening two pieces of 1/8" thick aluminum, do I need medium or long rivets?
Hello - Thank you for reaching out. It's important to select the best rivet size for the application and pre-drill pilot holes before installing rivets. A good rule of thumb is to add 1.5 times the rivet's diameter to the material thickness. We would recommend medium rivets for your application. why does the picture show half inch long when it says one eigth inch long.what am buying?

1/8 rivet size, 3/16 grip lenth.
From what I understand, the 1/2" pertains to the depth of the material the rivet is securing whereas the 1/8" pertains to the size of the hole the rivet is going through. This hasn't been explained elsewhere but I had to look at a few videos on YouTube.

I purchased steel gutters do I have to use steel rivets only??
Hey Ricco, Arrow’s aluminum rivets should fasten your steel gutters just as well as steel rivets would. In fact, the aluminum rivets should not rust like steel rivets eventually would. And Arrow's aluminum rivets come in white finish, as well as unpainted. One tip we'd give would be to touch up the drilled holes in the steel gutter with paint before fastening with aluminum rivets to help deter the exposed steel from rusting prematurely; you could also spray 2 layers of clear coat to the exposed steel to help with this.
