Q:please tell me, is it necessary to remove water from a plastic pond in winter?, New York State
by|May 23, 2022

Answer This Question

A:  I do not take the water out, but do remove the pump and filter to prevent freezing. We have a lot of freezing weather here in extreme northwest Missouri.

by|May 25, 2022

A:  Im from Louisiana and do not have the winters you have, but if the top of the tub is not sealed then it will act just like an ice tray. the water will freeze but not harm the tub,

    by|May 25, 2022

A:  No, i have had no problems in the winter with my pond.

      by|May 28, 2022

A:  No, you do not need to remove the water in winter. This pond is very durable and can handle freezing temperatures. However, the pond water may freeze all the way through in very cold temperatures and that won't be good for plants, fish, or pump.

A:  No! I had rigid plastic ponds larger than this when I lived in Maryland and they did fine leaving water in it over winter!

          by|Sep 18, 2022

A:  Yes, the pond should not be in the freezing weather. You would drain it or use a pond heater.

Q:Can the fish pond be used to grow veggies?

              Answer This Question

A:  YES! There is NO need to drill holes in the bottom or put rocks in the bottom! That way you can still use it as a pond later! Remember though, if you use a tomato stand or trellis put it over the deep places so you don't poke the shelves!

A:  If you poke drainage holes and put rocks in the bottom for drainage, possibly. It is black though and will absorb heat. I've seen people grow vegetables using tires and then lining the tire and filling it with soil.

                by|Apr 9, 2022

A:  Yes, if you poke holes in the bottom so the water can get out.

                  by|Apr 10, 2022

A:  Yes It could be used to grow veggies. I would drill several holes in the bottom.

                    by|Apr 10, 2022

A:  I would imagine so but there is no drainage. You may want to drill some holes in the bottom so your plants could drain

                      by|Apr 9, 2022

                        A:  I would not recommed.

I needed a round pond form to complete our back yard oasis. This one was perfect. It is very sturdy and easy to install. There is nothing NOT to like about this item as it also has 3 plant shelves.

This was the perfect size for my back porch. I love the shelves inside for plants. Make sure you support the shelves before adding water to be safe. I had fun decorating in and around it and it's very easy to maintain. Could easily be put in ground outside as well.

                                  Great Starter or Add On
I bought this little pond to have somewhere to transition the new much smaller fish into my larger fish ponds. My first "pond" was a large plastic pool filled with water for my pet goose to swim in. I slowly decorated by adding large rocks... lights... fountain... then of course you have to have a waterfall!!! Then I wanted FISH too!!! So that lead me to digging a much larger pond for the goose and making a new pond for me.... then expansion. You can't put too many fish in a small pond or it will be a constant battle trying to keep it clean. The best tip I can offer anyone on keeping the water clean is water circulation. If you have a fountain in your pond it's not circulating it enough just sprinkling the water. Use the dual attachment to where it can go up to the fountain and also a hose. Don't add the hose, but just let it spray down into the pond with a little pressure. It will be enough to cause a slight rotation in the pond. You will be amazed how much that slight movement of the water can make on the upkeep and maintenance of your pond. Also use a net and scoop once or twice a month unless you have heavy debris entering your pond. Yiu just need to turn the bottom up in order for the filter to filter it. The bottom pond is a garden tub burried in the ground.
